  • Bruce out on one of his Permissions with the PARD008LRF (kindly provided by Djure of PARD Europe) demonstrating two different IR lasers, namely the N1000 (100mW) IR Laser Pointer / Illuminator from TheNightVision Store: www.nightvision... and the Syrius XTL VCSEL IR Laser (with central diffuser and 42mm lens) by Ian Sorril of IR Light Builds from / ir.light.builds and Blackwood-Outdoors: www.blackwoodo...
Note: Audio interference (e.g. using LRF) is not audible while using the PARD008LRF, only on recordings.
    His tips are:
    1. To direct stronger add-on IR at the mid-to-upper area of your eyepiece view, if flora (grass or bushes) in the foreground causes whiteout, leading to the distant view being lost / blacked-out.
    2. Additional IR is not required with the PARD008 or 008LRF out to airgun / FAC Airgun / Rimfire ranges (better to carry a spare 18650 battery or two for the PARD instead).

Very helpful to see the inbuilt IR vs a high end external IR. Cheers from Australia.

Thanks bud, that's what we wanted to do - help folk see what you really get, to help folk decide for themselves, though of course as you extend the range add-on IR becomes more necessary.
Lots more hopefully-useful videos to come...
      Cheers. Russ

@@RussDouglas222 out of interest how do you feel the Dark Engine stacks up compared to the Sirius XTL at say 200-250 yards.

@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK I haven't used the Syrius myself yet, this footage was recorded by Bruce; so you'd have to compare our two videos for now... But we are planning other add-on IR comparisons using the PARD, including with a very new/compact/inexpensive IR Laser torch Bruce has on order.
      Watch this space for more.

@@RussDouglas222 I've a Sirius XLT inbound now for the 204 Ruger / NV007. Saying that the smaller/lighter dark engine is appealing for my 17HMR / NV008 LRF. I don't need two lights..... More of a want 😂.

I have to say that I am really impressed with the onboard ir on my NV008 lrf. When focussed, I can easily id quarry out to over 300m in open fields. I have the PBiR L too, but haven’t had to use it in anger yet.

hi, the units of the N1000 should be 100mW (mili Watts not MW = mega Watts) :-), but this is only detail, it would be interesting if you try use different IR light for example with 915nm and 940 nm spectrum, in my country are some animals sensitive for 850nm spectrum, but great tests, thank you

    • @RussDouglas222

      Happy to help everyone Aleš.
Bruce tells me he checked and over here "mw" or "mW" are both valid.
I haven't seen any 915nm illuminators over here, but 940nm torches are definitely more covert / discreet, although they're around 25% less efficient/effecticve with NV sensors.

The interference is only recorded during playback when the battery is quite low.
Watch my recent videos, the quality's fantastic when at air rifle ranges you can clearly see every detail of your prey.
This footage was recorded at 200yards, with a small, light, self-contained rangefinding unit; I think it's pretty damn brilliant myself.
