I am an American. Many Americans and some former elected-government officials are worried that pre-industrialized, under-developed authoritarian countries (like the Emirs or Kings of the Near East & Middle East, So-Called Socialist or Communist states) are going to steal Industrial-Revolution applications (i.e. technology) from America and become more economically (i.e. trade) competitive. Forget that. The truly industrialized civilizations of the real modern world are the ones who will surge pass countries like America, England, France, and former states of Holy Roman Empire. They don't even have to "steal" or "reverse-engineer" other developed country's technology. They will develop their own industrial applications or find a far more practical way to use and trade (i.e., sell) the things they have created. While America spend its precious efforts and resources on making machines of mass destruction (i.e. weapons) other truly industrialized countries make useful consumer products that people actually want to trade for. In turn, these industrialized countries create good-paying jobs for their own people and other people. God forbid peace and prosperity will infect the whole of the world. Even Israel will no longer need American weapons. Probably not.
