Christian Hackenberg Penn State. He was predicted to go First overall after his Freshman season. He wound up being drafted in the Second Round by the Jets but was out of the league within 5 years.
As an ND fan, Riley Leonard looks poised to steal the top spot on this list from Wimbush after his career is done. Dude can't seem to comprehend the concept of the forward pass after his overhyped 1st Rd NFL draft stock coming out of Duke.
He only had 1 game where he couldn't make simple passes. And that was NIU. Miami OH was on Denbrock. Purdue he snapped and he made MULTIPLE good throws against Louisville. TAMU he did what was asked of him. He has had a lot of bad passes that are simply the result of not being on the same page as the WR which might not even be on him. This is more the result of getting a QB who had zero time to develop chemistry (injured) and like 8 months and zero games to learn a new offense. If you aren't elite those are tough to overcome. he won't be relevant at the next level. But saying he can't make a forward pass is just continuing to be bitter over essentially 1 game and a couple random passes. Hes sitting at 10 total TDs, 2 Turnovers, over 1000 total yards and 65% completion %. He genuinely isnt the scapegoat half our fan base makes him out to be. Denbrock deserves significantly more blame
I think you are confusing Davis Webb with Davis Mills. Davis Mills was the number-one-rated quarterback in the 2017 class who never really made it as a starter in the NFL and is the current backup in Houston. Davis Webb was the 48th-ranked quarterback in the 2013 class who lost out to Patrick Mahomes at Texas Tech and never really made it as a backup in the NFL.
This is why I wasn't surprised Purdy and Browning were good when given the chance. Both were predicted to be first round picks after their sophomore years but then had 2 down years and the talk on them cooled completely. Mr Irrelevant and UDFA. But they didn't forget how to play QB. Just goes to show how many of these guys if given the chance might have been decent QBs.
