    I was wondering how I was gonna store my open stock and now I know. Thank you very much. Great ideas to. I have a set of 30 neo color 2 I bought like 6 yrs ago and haven’t really used them. So I decided to watch some videos on them after I added 17 more colors open stock. I plan on completing my collection in the weeks to come. I’m new to bible journaling so just seeing what people are doing. Thanks again

    You can also stamp an image then color adding water w/a fine tip brush to soften....beautiful look. Try it on your cactus stamps...

      I have the box set. I can say I’ve never used them all. Now, I’m on to Copic. Don’t waste your money. Buy what you need and will use. I also really want Daniel Smith watercolor crayons, they make these look like cheap crayons.

    I also love the Neocolor IIs! BTW: Have you ever tried making green with yellow and black (instead of blue)? You can do this with any medium: makes some richer greens than you can achieve with yellow and blue. Just a little tip, no extra charge :D

    Thank you for making my Tuesdays exciting again (I have to admit that I check TH-cam a few times to see what kind of Tip Tuesday it will be)! I actually bought a set of Neocolor ii but never really got around to playing around with them. After watching this, I'm going to make a point to try to make a watercolor galaxy with them and see how it goes. I've been trying with distress ink, but haven't been able to get it as dark as I want. And once I get a better feel for them on regular/watercolor paper, I'll give them a try in my Bible!
    Ah, complete set syndrome, yes, I have that as well but am trying to limit myself a little. Between inktense and Neocolor ii, I was very tempted to get the full set at once, but the price tag and the fact that I've never used them before kept me back... So here's to learning about the medium and slowly building up to the full set (at least now that I have used the Inktense pencils more)!

    So pretty ....soft colors....what is the difference from watercolor crayons and neo 11 crayons....love how you
    use the stencils...❤️❤️❤️🎨 Tip Tuesday's are very helpful..fun how you show examples and compare the products!!
    Thanks...susan

    • @LindseyDecor
      @LindseyDecor  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There isn’t a difference except that the Neocolors will probably be more pigmented than cheaper products.

    • @LindseyDecor
      @LindseyDecor  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use Neocolors like watercolors so you might want to go for those since you can use them so many different ways.

    • @celestesherry779

      LindseyDecor thanks for your help! I just couldn’t decide what to get. I have the Kuretake watercolor 24 set and was deciding between more watercolor sets or Neocolor 2s.
      All your videos are great and I enjoy them.

    Regardless you never dip a watercolor pencil in water! If is the fastest way to destroy it! No matter how careful you think you are moisture gets into the wood.

    I think the Neocolor 2's are lightfast. Another reason they coast more than some others like them. I believe you have to go to the Caen Dache web site to find out anything about the lightfastness of the crayons. Don't quote me on that though. I've only seen it or heard it from other TH-camrs. I have been wanting some of the Neocolor 2's. I just can't afford them right now. Soon I hope. They look soooo fun. TYFS

    Do you use a fixative and varnish after? I use these on my acrylic on canvas paintings for extra marks and interest. However...they do smudge! So, I'm trying to understand the finishing process for painting and using these crayons. thanks!

    Lindsey, have you used Dina Wakeley’s Scribble Sticks? How do Neo Color ll compare?

    • @LindseyDecor
      @LindseyDecor  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven’t tried the scribble sticks since I figured they’d be very similar to Neo Colors and I liked that color range better.

    • @LindseyDecor

      Some fine art stores carry them but you can’t get them at the big box craft stores usually.

  • @nightangel0515

    These definitely look like fun. Question: After you're done and you know that you're not going to do anymore, is there a way to set the project so if it should get wet it doesn't activate the crayon?

    • @LindseyDecor
      @LindseyDecor  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You could try sealing with an acrylic sealer spray but I’ve never tried that in my Bible but I know some people do.

    I bought a pack of Lyra crayons which are basically the same, but if you leave them in the heat, they will melt. Do these? I ask that because of the traveling. That’s a wonderful thought. Don’t know if the Neocolors are different in that way. Also, I tried for the first time to use a stencil and Matte gel medium and a distress crayon for color and it flopped. Do I need to use texture paste instead? Or is it just practice...I tried doing hearts on my bible page. I didn’t use a palette knife either....maybe I got it too thick...

    • @LindseyDecor
      @LindseyDecor  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I started with the Lyra crayons and they are very similar but I like the pigmentation of the Neocolors better. The news don’t feel quite as soft so they might be more resistant to melting but I’m sure they’d melt also since they are a wax pastel.
      Texture paste works better because it’s no as liquid as gel medium but I’ve used both. I try not to go over the stencil too many times and apply it thinly so it’s less like likely to ooze.

    You NEVER dip a watercolor pencil in water. You can weaken the wood therefore the pencil will be destroyed.

    • @LindseyDecor
      @LindseyDecor  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As I mention in the video, I’m careful to not get the wood wet...only the pigment part of the pencil touches the water and I haven’t had any problems with mine doing it this way. But like I said, do at your own risk 😉
