Just a helping tip, it makes less of a mess changing your oil if you take the extra 5 mins to take the skid plate off...it's only a few extra bolts.

ok so I have a 05 660 grizzly all auto electric. it only has 1200 miles, and when I loaded it up on the trailer after riding I noticed it was leakin oil on the trailer. the highest water I went through was up to my ankles when resting on the foot rest(were the brake is and supposed to be when in riding position. so I don't think the water is the case, however I do not know for sure. I am home now, and fired it up and let it warm up for 5-10 mins and there was no dripping coming from any where. I then checked the oil and it was low. so I guess 1st what could of caused my oil leak? and 2nd what type of oil should I put in my quad and where should I put the new oil in? sorry if this is a stupid question. TIA.

if its engine oil its 10w40 or 10w30 and it goes in the dipstick hole. I would check the drain plug for leaks, the crush washer may need replaning

its definitely engine oil. black and dirty as all sin more than likely from the dirt on the skid plate..... dosent have a gassy smell to it which is good..... I will look at the drain plug and the crush washer and pray that's whats wrong and hope its nothing serious. it surprised me as I have not gone through deep water or had it for that long.... this was my 2nd trip taking it out...:( do these things have any weak spots or known fails or sorts of stuff like that, that we should be looking out for?

the oil leak may also be from the last oil change, it may have been on the frame or skid plate. and that quad is a good dependable machine unless it was beaten before you. and also water can get everywhere quickly plus it may have come from the belt cover

that's what my pops was saying, is it could be from the last oil change. Some oil got collected or something and it just some how stayed on the skid plate until it got warm enough from a long ride. in my mind I think that's kind of hard because the different terrain. I have a 03 yzf 250 4 stroke and I have fallen in creecks and for a second my bike will be almost completely submerged until i get it back up and it will be 100% fine. In addition have seen videos of guys running these grizzlys through rivers until only the top half is above water. yet when I get one the first little creek I go through messes it up. Just saying that makes me think either its a loose bolt or like you said washer or this leak has been going on for a little.

where are the weakspots on this quad for water? ive seen videos of people completely submerging them at times. with no add on snorkel
