In 1990 when graduating from High School I was asked to leave a personal meaningful phrase for the promo memory... guess what I wrote... yup! ... "No retreat No Surrender" ..." Retroceder Nunca Rendirse Jamas" ... when it was read in our school graduation ... all of my generation buddies who grew up with me and this movie in our mind, erupted in cheers! This is how big this was for us... it fed my desire to learn martial arts... I have seen it many times in my high and low times and even watched it with my son and daughters. Simple story, low-budget, Bruce Lee, motivational, Van Dame, inspirational, unforgettable! 2024 and keeps on giving! Amazing!
What a beautiful ages the 80'! No cell phone, no Instagram, no people walking around and peaking at the phone without looking where they are going. Just friendship, music, dance and enjoy the life!
Also na brains in the 80s, as a kid trains kung-fu at home, dad is a karate instructor, as the kid fails to enrol into a karate dojo, he gets tought kung-fu again by the ghost of Bruce Lee. Gotta love the nonsense, as nobody cared back then I guess.... :D
I grew up in the 90s which was almost the same but with a bit better technology however nothing to keep us literally indoors 24 hours a day, i feel kids these days would rather watch something all day on a tiny ipad then actually go out with friends & have fun causing mischief & being typical kids, god knows what's going to happen in another 10 years
says a guy who watches a video from youtube and comments from computer ....
@@coobalt so? What do you mean?

That’s where JEAN-CLAUDE VAN DAME was introduced to the whole world 🌎 😊
Ok😊
He's doing the bad guy in this movie.

Just like Black Eagle, he was a bad man in that film @@brunococchietto7496

So what, hes right. This was the intro of JCVD
“He’ll eat you up”
“Eat me up? Don’t worry, I’m nobody’s lunch!”
I love that line! The 80’s were so cheesy, I really miss that decade!
Dean don’t hurt him!!!! You hear that punk! She Knows who’s the best!

No CGI, no Matrix bullet dodging, just pure believable choreography. Also had the best ending music. Man, I miss the 80's and 90's!
you miss the golden days my friend ......
so sorry about your great lose

Watch breathing fire it's a good one. Uncle David is the shit.

Without this movie my childhood wouldn’t be the same. 👑👑👑👑
Growing up I never had my real father around so the rare times I did get to see him I got to watch classic 80's and 90's martial arts movies like this one & The Last Dragon, Above The Law, Best of the Best, Kick-Boxer, Blood-Sport, Gym-Kata, Big Trouble In Little China, Karate Kid etc etc which are all 80's and 90's classics. The old school fighting movies will forever in my mind be associated with a sons love for his father.
Q
Love it bro ❤❤❤
One of the first movies i had on Videotapes back in the 80s. Together with China O'Brian. Best Martial Art movies ever. I love the typical 80's music in both movies.
Cynthia Rothrock.
Haha you are seriously oldskool. My older brother got me into this movie & Judo, then it went from there.
Just a heads up. China o’ Brian pre orders are available rn in 4k at vinegar syndrome.
This is not the Theoretical Release of No retreat No Surrender. Hence why it's super corny with extra scenes that make you cringe and the Music is off by a million.
One of the Best of its time but not this version.
2024 still watch and love this movie, good memories.
Yes!

What year is this movie from?.. looks like 82/83
There's no comedy like unintentional comedy. This movie was 80s though and through. Martial arts, rap, break dancing, and of course JCVD !
I loved this movie when I was a teenager! And even today it hasn't lost its charme. Classic! 🙂

Even though it was his first movie, I'd say this was Van Damme at his absolute best. His mastery of martial arts is flawless in this movie.
Lol
His very first movie was BLOODSPORT IN 1988.
@@JeanDavidDesiralong with forest Whitaker and Donald Gibbs.
@@JeanDavidDesirno that was in 1988 no regret no surrender came in 1986.It was Van Damme's first sizeable role when he was cast as the Russian villain
I disagree. Check Bloodsport, Kickboxer or Quest. Even Lionheart, so many more much great display of martial arts. Do a little more research.
Choreography was fantastic for this period. Love the classics! Thanks for the upload. 6am pure enjoyment
"I'M THE BEST, I'M THE BEST". Love it. Hold on to the VISION. Great song, JCVD first showing us in the 80's what was coming
You can tell JCVD was a martial artist in real life. He is one of the greatest actors to do martial arts movies in the 80s and 90s.
In the 80s&90s or all-time.
@@Isaiah-sr2tball time definitely. Hate he doesn’t get the respect he deserves and gets shitted on.

I love this movie by Bruce lee

This Version of the movie is the worst. This is not the Theoretical Release, Music is off, dialogue is off, certain scenes were just killing the vibe. This film was made to be fun and serious. This is just a cringe edition.
Early Van Damme - cant beat it - he was a fresh faced up and coming in this. Great movie.
he didnt took cocain at the time fuck cocain
The last part I repeat three times just to hear his friend remanding that he will make it by saying NO RETREAT NO SURRENDER. What a good friend😊😊😊
💯 Even a low budget film can hit the heart. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 i love it.
With real talent
Well said ‼️‼️
2024 and still amazing

This is one of my all-time favorite movies that I still want sometimes to this day-especially with Jean-Claude Van dam starting in it 💥💥💥
Best martial arts movie ever , also teaches you why you wanna learn martial arts not for black belts but for life ! Like how Jason defends his dad and friends. Salute to the Filmmakers
For some of us, a lot of us! Bruce Lee will never die !!!
Rest in power Bruce Lee

This may have just been the best, aged, 80s cheese I have had the pleasure to consume in quite a long while!
The 🧀 is strong with this one.
Man Ohh Man, This One Bring Back Memories. 1985!? Oh Yeah, Sweet Memories 🫵😉
I remember watching this on BETA. Only part was missing in this movie was the date scene with Jason and his girlfriend. The beta version didn't have the long extended versions; like the bed scene with the dad. Van Damme in his white suit; the brawl with his dad, was my favorite scene. One of the best fight movies growing up in the 80's.
You are correct. There are two copies of this film. The US version has all the extended scenes and the UK one doesn't. They both had different soundtracks too.
@@stephenmillergbluk version was better quality...With a much better soundtrack
This movie, bloodsport, lionheart, and sudden death are one of his greatest movies that he's ever done.
Personally I think his best role was as the villain in Iron Eagle..Not as good a movie though.

Man, I remember renting this VHS at the video store when it came out! I really miss the 1980s. Cheesy acting, but the action was great!😊 Jean Claude was just a kid!😄
Wow, this version of the movie had extra scenes I'd never seen before. Thank you for posting!
It is missing a whole scene with Kelly from the original. It is before the party and why he bought her the rabbit.
@@some1776You sure? I thought that scene was cut from the original too?
This version is not the Theoretical Release hence why it is cringe to watch. The original movie was way more serious and had a better Music score and edits. I've seen this move over a hundred times and know it like the back of my hand. It's a classic but not this one.
I love this film, Bruce Lee using his Ghost powers to open a Can of Coke - Priceless.
Ive been looking for this movie since the 1 time I saw it when i was 7 or 8 years old in either 1986 or 1987! Thx for posting this
"No retreat, no surrender" - great fun, action movie - a young JCVD, and a bullied chap that rises to prevail makes this flick worth watching.
Wow!! That was a great movie. I never watched it before it’s my first time. I always liked JCVD movies anyway. Great actors all in this movie. Love Bruce Lee movies also. Thank you for sharing this one. God bless.🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️

What an amazing film! 80s charm at it its best!
I love this movie. Watched it so many times as a child. I do agree on most the scenes that were cut from the movie.
What scenes were cut?
Childhood at its best
First time seeing this movie, and I must say it’s a classic❤️❤️❤️
This movie is awesome, it combines the popular 80`s musik, kung fu and breakdance, I love it. The fighting is some of the best out there,
Memories! Good stuff!
Damn it that was as good as it was cheesie.

The movie that introduced us all to the one and only Muscles from Brussels JCVD 👍🍁1985 shot in Seattle.
I loved when bruce taught jason the lessons now that was flawless he is the best karate king ever no one can get any better then him his kicks are so fast and his so so flexible and bendy like a worm
Another Bruce Lee-inspired film. I love the LEE DA GA training scenes.
Definitely a B movie, but with A movie fighting scenes! Yes, the acting’s a tad corny, but I LOVE this movie! So much room for a sequel, I wish they did make one!
There is a sequel just different actor in it
This is and will always be my favorite movie.
Outstanding soundtrack! 👍💪

Kurt McKinney's Los Angeles Police Department application was accepted the same day he was cast in the lead role. He turned down an opportunity to become a police officer to pursue acting.
Thanks so much for uploading this. Showed my 8 and 6 year old kids the intro for the laughs but they ended up watching the whole thing and loving it. This movie has zero budget but a TON of heart.
This movie was always so corny but the fight choreography was so ahead of it’s time.
So underrated! Such a great film and Bruce in his first appearance spoke with such great confidence! 🏆
Bruce died in 1973, genius.
@@GymChessI think he was talking about when the fake Bruce lee first appeared in the movie he showed up more than once

First time I saw Jean Claude Van Damme! I knew he was special because he was exciting to watch! I think this was his film debut. Not quite sure but I think so. Dude had moves that were different and more advanced than anything I had seen up to that point besides Bruce Lees stuff. Bruce is the man but Jean Claude is pretty cool to watch too in his own way!
@@flat_earth_forever I don't think he had his movie fighting style quite totally worked out just yet in this flick. He was still a bad mother hubber lol! Not a bad first effort, that's for sure!
Almost positive Black eagle was his film debut but he had a very small role this was the film that made people notice him in Hollywood and the rest is history
@@davemeads859 Ok. You are probably right. Ive never seen that one, but will look it up. Thanks for the correction! As far as I knew, No Retreat No Surrender, well was the first thing I saw him in. You're right, it doesn't mean it was his first film.
@@primusmoss-ln6jc glad you took my comment the right way mate wasn't trying to call you out or be a dick about it I just thought you might be interested in seeing Black eagle tbh it's pretty awful but hopefully you find a copy and enjoy it 👍
@@davemeads859 Naaah, I ain't like that. He had 4 roles before No Retreat. Between 1979 and 1984. Small bit parts and some uncredited. He made Black Eagle after No Retreat. He made Black Eagle just before he made Cyborg according to Wikipedia. It's interesting stuff. Thanks for making me a bit more aware. That's what this forum is for in my opinion. 5:31 The very first time we see JCVD’s

It’s been dubbed as the ‘JCVD Kick’ for some time now and we can see why.. but yeah man, this is the first time the world book as exposed to JVCD and him performing this awesome move.

Let's be honest its not a good flick in therms of acting is actually horrendous and borderline amateur but the fighting, the music, the spirit and the way it captures the 80's vibe touches our hearts and it pumps our veins with excitment,so fuck it its extremely enjoyable. This movie is very interesting. Fantastic one.
Thanks for uploading this film, still watching in 2024, this brings back my childhood memories, I miss the 80s growing up as a 8 years old kid, people were much more friendly, life wasn't so complicated but muh more simpler!
Loved this movie as a kid. I prefer the European versions BGM to this one. Also big boy credit to JCVD and Kim Tai Chung on playing bruce lee.
The way he played Bruce Lee was too funny😂
I STILL LOVE SO MUCH THIS MOVIE
Rj: can i give you a hand
Jason: yea sure, don't expect me to pay you much though
Rj: no sweat, I'll just have my accountant bill you 😂
I feel old just watching this, but this was JCVD's Debut Hollywood Movie, for goodness sake! Great era for Hollywood martial art movies (greater soundtracks too!), pioneered by none other than the Grandmaster of Disaster himself, the late and great Bruce Lee.
its like i just watched this yesterday but 30yrs ago.
This movie had me laughing so much for the corny dialogue and acting but you cannot deny the fight choreography was leagues above Karate Kid which this movie was obviously inspired by.
Van Damme as Ivan the Russian had me rolling with his face expressions in the final act fighting the three team members and Jason!
This time it’ll be different …..Russian!
Dean: You see punk? She’ KNOWS who’s the BEST!
You're absolutely right, the acting was one of the corniest i've ever seen but the choreography by far surpasses all three of the karate kid movies.
Nice not to see only "fan boys" cmnting.. I agree - close to satire.
But still better acting than the 2nd and 3rd movies 😁
JCVD as the bad guy works well and i also liked the breakdance kid and the bully introduction. Just 80's vibes 🙂
Van Damme was actually born and raise in Belgium. He is already on the rise after this film.
This was actually a Hong Kong production filmed in America. The director is the legendary Corey Yuan. That's why the fights are so good.
One of the greatest movies of all time.
A Classic Martial Arts Movie 🎥
I wish I had a dollar for every time I watched this in the 80s. I loved this movie
I was jus a kid when I first enjoyed this movie.. it's still a great flim💯
In the first combat sequence, Jean-Claude Van Damme jumped off another villain's shoulder to perform a flying kick. It was supposed to hit Timothy D. Baker's upper chest, but Van Damme repeatedly struck Baker in the face, knee, and throat instead. Baker later appeared as a character witness against Van Damme in a lawsuit filed by Jackson 'Rock' Pinckney, claiming that the poorly-performed kicks were largely due to carelessness on Van Damme's part, and that they continued even after Corey Yuen told Van Damme to be more careful.
What up with eating ice cream sitting on top of him, still very good movie Jean Claud Van Dam was the best 👌 ❤❤❤❤
