    Well bushing or bushing less? Mine S&W Series E has a bushing, my only mistake was not getting it in stainless steel and without a rail. Was told the rail aids against muzzle flip and makes the gun stronger. I don't think so, also it's uglier with the rail.

    Was never a big fan of ambi safeties because the weak side can inadvertently get bumped off safe during carry, but as you pointed out, I guess you can always check to make sure it’s on safe. Not a deal-breaker, but just not my preference. I like the look of that Kimber too. Nice piece. 👍🏻

    • @lovemym16

      It doesn't need the thumb safety anyway. It's got a grip safety, and even that isn't really needed. Plenty of guns with no external safety. So long as the trigger isn't pressed your good. And if you're following the safety rules that won't happen.

    Well sir, I agree with what you have just stated about an ambi safety. I just purchased a Springfield Armory 1911 Ronin which I fell in love with from first sight. The only real issue I have with it is that I'm a left handed shooter and this doesn't have an ambi safety on it. I'm going to do some checking to see if I can get one installed that won't void my warranty on this pistol.

    I think that if we have to draw a 1911 from the 3 o'clock position with a hurt "strong side arm" If we had the time to get to that step you have time to get the safety off on a single sided safety... I could be wrong. But its not difficult to disengage it with the left hand only. Just my opinion but I wouldn't be opposed to those low profile ambi safeties at all.

    One thought for the 1911 fan boy LOL, if your running a standard barrel consider going with a spring-Co dual spring, that make for a very clean pick up of the round in mag, but make a nice cummfy shooter for the geriatric shooters. LOL (easy shooting on you girly hands LOL) but seriously they make a nice difference.

    I removed the ambi-safety from my Sig STX and replaced it with a right-hand (left side) large extended safety. The extended safety forms a nice shelf for the thumb while shooting. I thought the little ambi-safeties were too fidgety and the left-side one bit into the thumb during recoil because there wasn't enough area to disperse the energy coming through it. The extended safety is much more comfortable, and more positive. And if I shoot left-handed, it's very easy to swipe the left-side safety with the left thumb.

    I'm left handed and I don't have a 1911 yet hoping one day I will be able to get one in the future. But even if i wasnt left handed I would still want an ambi safety on it because of the very reasons you stated. If you are defending your life you can not guarantee that you will be shooting strong hand only and never need to switch to support side and you have to be able to get the gun into action with either hand and make that transition as smooth as possible and not fumble around with your gun when your life depends on it. That is why I believe every person that Carrie's a gun for self defense should learn to shoot accurate with either hand.

    I'm not a fan of the 1911 ambi safety. It digs into my hand when I shoot target. Mine came with an ambi safety, I changed it with a GI safety. I trained in the Military with the GI 1911. Ft Lewis WA. So I'm used to the GI type safety.

  • @pepelepewpewpew8573
    @pepelepewpewpew8573 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I respectfully disagree. I have no use for the ambi safety being right handed. I will never use it and I have had it bump on something when in my holster and knock the safety off. There are of course more safeties on the 1911 so I do not feel that it would cause a NG but I have drawn mine from the holster at the range after the safety was knocked off and it took me a second or two trying to sweep the safety off wondering what was happening before I realized it was already off. As you know a couple of seconds in a gunfight may cost you your life. My opinion for what it is worth. $.01 if that.
