Luckily we have 7 custom profiles we can assign, and in this video I will show you guys how to do that. Also I will give you guys a look into what I currently have going on for my custom settings ;)

    Fuji cameras let you bracket shoot with a few different options - AE, film simulation, etc. I wish they had the ability to bracket different custom settings. So each time you took a photo it would create 3 JPEG’s, and you could just keep the one you want.

    I am not sure if the x100v has a Q button (quick menu) but a fourth way is to change the settings in the quick menu and then you can hold the Q button and it will ask you if you want to save your current settings to a custom preset. I have an X-t30 II and I think it is an amazing camera due to its small size while still having enough buttons and interchangeable lenses while sharing many of the X-T4's specs and features and it has a pop-up flash.

    Hey Jay, nice video and interesting profiles. One question: do you use the clarity setting at all? On the film profiles it looks like you have, but hard to tell from a video. I do experiment also with 1 or 2 profiles to have an overexposed film look, but am not sure how to go with clarity. Thanks a lot!

    • @JayRegular
      @JayRegular  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think clarity is great, the only reason I avoid it is because it takes extra processing time in camera to apply the effect for some reason. I would rather push clarity in a third party application or take the image in raw and in camera, apply the clarity after taking the photo

    Good tutorial, Jay. Much to mull over. Found what might be a “bug” unique to XT-4 - cam touch keyboard (when naming custom settings, e.g.) - letter “L” appears in uppercase only, even when typing in lower case mode. Only affects this letter, in my experience. Did you find the same? How can these custom profiles be imported into LR? Cheers!

    Such a great job you’ve done! Thank you!
    I am a pro, so I am used to only use raw and lots of post processing, not because I want but because I need to. But, hey, I bought X100V for my own photos, to enjoy photography again, so I want to get deep into those great Fujifilm simulations that look so good! So, what I understood is that there are only 7 slots, these can be used EITHER as pre-filled with the Fujifilm standard simulations OR modified by the user, renamed etc. I mean, if I change slot no2 and put a recipe in it, I will not have Velvia available in camera any more unless I reset no2 back to it? I got it right? Or do we always have the 7 standard slots available, PLUS another 7 custom slots for recipes?

    • @JayRegular
      @JayRegular  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are only 7 slots in total to work with, if you apply a recipe to any of them you are not locked into using the film simulation for that recipe. You can change film simulations simply by going into IQ settings, and the current recipe parameters should be there for you to edit. Changing parameters will not be permanent, unless you resave the applied changes to the original custom slot the recipe was assigned to.

      @@JayRegular Hey Jay, does that mean if I were to save custom recipes I should save those to C2- C7 with C1 being the one with default factory settings? So if I want to use built in simulations I should cycle through it under C1? Hope you get what I mean, just got the X-Pro 3 and things can be a bit confusing switching from analog to this. Thanks!

      It would be a lot more convenient to go back to default settings if you leave c1 as it was when you first purchased the camera, but there are many film simulations to choose from so if say, you preferred astia over provia, you would still need to change c1 to astia as your "default" simulation

    Will this work on a XT-30

      It should, some settings might be different though

    Is there a quick way to select one of the customs? I know if I go to Q menu and hold Q then they will show up in a little box but it seems to only let me edit them from there and not select them to use.

    • @JayRegular
      @JayRegular  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The quickest way for me is to access the Q menu and the first box on the top left should be for you custom settings. I rotate the rear command dial to cycle through my custom settings

      @@JayRegular oh man, mine was just the regular film simulations but I just found out I could change it when customizing the menu. I didn't know there was a box for the custom ones. Thanks!

    hi
    you have to shoot in jpg if you use the method 1?

      if you shoot only in raw you dont have the settings in lightroom right?

    • @JayRegular

      If you shoot in raw, you won't see the simulations on lightroom, you can on capture one though

    My stupid question.
    Is it possible, through accident, to alter the settings to the DEFAULT profiles? I don't want to screw those up, trying to create a custom profile.

    • @JayRegular
      @JayRegular  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can always reset profiles to their default settings if you make a mistake

      You need to save your settings to custom profile

      I'm not sure if the previous models of X100 cameras allow you to name the custom slots, maybe it's limited to the x100v

    Is it normal that when I use custom film simulation, after every picture I take there's a ''storing data'' time of like 1-2 seconds and I can't take rapidly photos. With the in camera standard simulation it doesnt do that only with custom film simulations, is it normal?

    • @JayRegular
      @JayRegular  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the IQ settings is your clarity setting set to something other than 0?

    • @JayRegular

      That's the problem, if you set your clarity to anything other than 0 it will do that

      @stevenp291288 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JayRegular Thanks a lot for your answer. I guess I can still make custom recipes without touching Clarity and it won't make a big difference on the photos

    • @JayRegular
      @JayRegular  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would just apply clarity in camera after I took the photo, or do it in an image editing app instead
