This speaks to me. It reaffirms a feeling that there is no real division between believers and unbelievers. A science based rational skeptic is just as available to spiritual insight as one who identifies with a church and a doctrine. It reaffirms the feeling that reality is fundamentally paradoxical, and our rational minds will never grasp that reality. For those of us who did not grow up in the Christian faith which parts of the Bible would you point us to as the best guides to Jesus's message? Thank you, Marshall and god bless.

Any one of the Four Gospels, they all share basically the same story, I would recommend Matthew or John. Matthew is the first book in the New Testament. I would recommend John, the Gospel of John is probably the single most important book of the bible, as it tells you how to transform your life through Jesus Christ. When I was an athiest, I will admit I would have scoffed at this books, my reaction would have been "is that it?". I would encourage you to read these Gospels many times with humility, I could never find God for many years because I thought it would hinder my intellectual pride, the truth is, the only thing separating you and God is your Ego, Pride itself, not your intellect, when you begin to extrapolate the teachings of the bible to world history, and take an honest humble look at Christ, there is 0 conflict with anything intellectual, infact real intellectual pursuit can only begin once we find god. Prayer is one of the best kept secrets, the greatest gift. Pray before you read scripture, ask God to reveal himself through these words, ask him to humble you and reveal your sinful nature. Ultimately this is what worked for me. You cannot reason your way into God, it comes from perserverance, love, prayer, humility and faith.
I hope you will join the kingdom brother :)

    Personally…
I was raised in a religious home, of which though dad had his fault as do all people… regardless if they are religious or not.
    But dad was in my opinion a true Christian, though overly religious in some respects… but when someone needed help, he was there to support;
Of which I recall he even built a home stead for a needy family.
    However…
I was not like my dad, I was a quiet introvert… but I was very observant.
Nonetheless, because I was different from most kids even at church, I was rejected… and eventually left his church.
When I eventually left home and moved out of state, Christmas time I became homesick and homeless, but knowing I could not go back… I began to reflect on why I felt homesick at that time… was because Christmas revolved around Jesus.
Of which I began my own search for “God” but without influence of others.
And though I encountered a church which seemed to have a unique “message” and though I agreed with their beliefs… they still lacked one element of which the Bible brings forth… “LOVE”.
And a person of my character, I was not able to handle their attitude.
Now I still tend to believe that religion has its place, and there are many good-hearted Christians…
But as any sect, religion or otherwise, there will always be hypocrisy and dishonesty.

Commenting before I watch, if you think you've "outgrown" Christianity, then either that's not true Christianity, or you're not really growing. Christianity is about a personal relationship with God, a constant journey to be more and more like God. There is no end to that journey, to that growth.
9:20 it's ironic you would mention the parable about the sowing of seeds; it seems to me that your target audience are those seeds caste amongst thorns to be choked and killed by the weeds, producing no fruit.
13:20 you must keep in mind that the Holy Spirit is alive and active, and has guided Saints into a better understanding. These things aren't "second hand", but Scriptural wisdom being revealed by the Holy Spirit.
15:00 you're taking a too literal a meaning from the parable of the sowing seeds. The seeds are the Word of God, we are the soil, and just as you can prepare soil for planting, so can you prepare yourself for the Word. We receive salvation through grace, but its not independent of our own actions. You can't live a sinful and unrepentant life and expect grace.
Final thoughts: I don't know the point or the meaning of this video. You say it's about "outgrowing" Christianity, yet you claim that growth is relative and not really true. It seems to be aimed at pulling people away from Christianity, yet you use the Bible of sayings of Jesus to support your points. You rightly call out the majority of churches that feed their members only milk, and you're correct that most American Christians would choke on the meat of the Word, however, you're very misled on the destination of your journey, and your conclusions about what Jesus meant. There is only one apostolic Church, that has an unbroken line back to the Apostles, that has 2000 years of wisdom and guidance to offer. Saints and desert Fathers have prayed and devoted their lives to Christ, and were much blessed by the Holy Spirit. To anyone reading this, I recommend the Orthodox Church. They don't feed you milk and honey, they except much from you, and they have much to offer.

I agree with your analysis here. At first, I couldn't figure out why YT even brought this relatively obscure video into my feed. But I see such a desire to know God here. The pain that many of us have known when humans have disappointed us or we have misunderstood God's love and majesty.
To anyone watching this, please pray to God for a soft heart, discernment, and wisdom. Then go to His Word. Jesus is the way the truth and the light. There is no other path to the father. If you don't know Jesus, this feels confusing and harsh. But when you know Him? He laid his life down for YOU. He loves YOU. There are troubles for us in this world, but He has overcome the world. Let his love in.

This channel was likewise recommended to me but it's not christian, the person is following another Jesus. They have a video "you are Christ", it's cloaked as growth but the aim is for one "discover" their divinity. They call it nonduality i.e there's no separateness, all is one, it's been know as pantheism, panantheism and is nothing new. Christians, stick to the basics for growth, read your bible, pray; hold on to the faith that was once delivered to you and prove ALL things. Jesus is Lord and he is separate from his creation.

Former Orthodox here. I can tell you with 100% certainty that most Orthodox aren’t even ready for spiritual milk, especially cradle. It is a relatively new phenomena to see upper middle class, highly educated Americans converting to Oethodoxy. They may “know” a lot intellectually about the church, her history, theology, and the like, but they have little to any idea of the Orthodox phronema. When you say “the church expects much of you”, you truly aren’t exaggerating. However, WHAT the church expects of its members is not maturity in spiritual matters, But rather blind obedience and adherence to law and ritual. Exclusivity runs the show in Orthodoxy to the point where even those who refuse to venerate icons are pronounced anathema. Give me a break. The practice of hesychia is kept from the laity, monasticism is put on a pedestal, and cults of personality rally and develop around highly unstable individuals in these communities. I could tel you horror stories of some of the goings on in Ephraimite monasteries just as a small example. Some saints are great, while others are utter monsters. There’s a vast divide between laity and clergy, clergy and monastics. Each one operates as a separate tier or step on the “ladder”. This creates gate keeping, spiritual abuse, spiritual anxiety, and ultimately it creates a barrier between Jesus and His people. Orthodoxy is not unlike any other sect of Christianity in that it has vastly changed over time, and yet it acts as if it and is not it has the answers. According to Dositheus’ confession Protestants and Catholics can’t even rightly be called Christian due to their not being under a canonical Orthodox bishop. This is utter nonsense as I hope you can agree. At the end of the day we are all off in areas of doctrine and dogma. The irony, however, is that Orthodoxy talks about humility being the greatest virtue and yet it can’t even muster up the courage to admit it could be wrong in certain areas.

Jesus says "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Nobody comes to the Father except through me." It's not about any church or religion. It's not about becoming anything by our own power. It's about Jesus. You don't become Christ as Jesus said it is finished on the cross. We have no need for other Christs.

    • @michaelallen1154

@NickGKiefer - explain to me how it is that the very last words that Jesus uttered to the disciples were that he expected them to go and convert non-Judeans into believers (Peter seems to echo this in Acts 2) ...however, in Acts 10, Peter has to be goaded into preaching to Cornelius and immediately following Cornelius's conversion and is actually surprised that the entire thing occurred. Peter undergoes an inquisition in Jerusalem by the other apostles and "those of the circumcision" in Acts 11. Here's a real problem that adherents of biblical inerrancy have - there is obviously a disconnect in this narrative. In a former profession, I was an investigator and something about this doesn't square on analysis. If this was part of a case, I would absolutely know I had received false (even if just "doctored") information. This brings up more questions than it answers. How did this never get addressed by Jesus while he was in the flesh if his plan indeed all along included Gentile converts? Ultimately, these two positions cannot be rationally harmonized - unless, of course, you are starting with _"the Bible is inerrant because it says it is, and so I have to invent some mechanism in my mind to make these two diametrically opposed narratives square with each other"_ - those two narratives being (1) the great commission of Matt 28/Mark 16 and (2) the fact that Peter and the apostles are confused, yea... even surprised, about the fact that the holy Spirit had now come up on the Gentiles for their conversion, even though that is exactly what was prophesied in the great commission and repeated by Peter in Acts 2.
An attentive, non-biased person (one who has no stake in maintaining biblical inerrancy) looks at that and sees the glaring chasm between those two narratives and realizes that they could only have happened as a result of a redactor's oversight.
