- Any Christian can say that they love the church, but we need to remember that there's a difference between loving your church and loving your ministry in the church. Do you love your church because you love God's people and want to serve them in any way that God equips you? Or is your love only a pretense because you're really wanting to use them to elevate your ministry?

This is so true. Many years ago I believe I heard a word from the Lord which said, "Many people believe they are called to plant churches, but I want to plant my Son in the hearts of many people".

What he’s saying is actually very liberating. It’s hard to explain.. but all of the “big plans” and “big vision” can be very self oppressive, setting yourself up to pursue things that really have nothing to do with what you’re called to. His words here set you free from chasing some vision and call you to minister to God’s people in truth. I find this a very freeing thought, though maybe I’m not explaining it right.
I think you explained that very well, Steve. At least for me. I needed to hear this message very badly today. When you focus on the big vision or dreams you have, you are missing out on the kingdom by not focusing on what is right in front of you and what you are called to do.
Very true, the best vision God gave me now as a young man is to love the other young men and help each other stay accountable and encouraged. Bless yoy

That’s the bottom line! Many Pastors want revival, but they think of revival as going from a small church to a bigger and bigger church. It becomes all about numbers of people instead of discipling those that God has already trusted them with! So they end up with buildings full of milk drinking, and lukewarm Christians, who are still sitting in the same pews for decades, and never reach maturity. When a person truly becomes mature in the faith, it’s not about how many people show up on Sunday, it’s about loving and helping, and putting others needs before your own! When you become mature in the faith, you become last, and the needs of others become first! That is one of the many reasons we can’t reach the unbelievers, because they are not seeing the true love of God in the people that say they know Christ! They are seeing pews full of people that are there for themselves, and not for the needs of others!

@@raymondong349 There is error of some sort in almost all the churches in this country. What you do is be the church! Make Gods word your delight, meditating in it day and night, along with prayer. Follow men only as they follow Christ, proving all things as the scripture directs us to! Be not a follower of man’s doctrines, but Gods truth! Do the things God commands as he reveals his truth to you. Be a doer of the word, and not just a hearer. Allow Gods Spirit to teach and direct you. Keep in mind that not everyone is the same spiritual age! Don’t judge, but love and be an example to them! Stay humble in your mind when Gods Spirit reveals his truth to you. Love builds up, but knowledge puffs up! Walk in the light God has revealed to you at the point where you are in your faith. Don’t try to be more than you are! And remember love is what it’s all about! If you obey what God has taught you, and do his word, and walk in humbleness and love. Others will see your faith and be drawn to you, and follow suit! But if you have a Pastor that is proud, and can’t, or refuses to be admonished. Sometimes, you have to search for another place. But never do anything without much prayer! Sometimes/many times, we just don’t understand what reason God has us where we are! Could be you will be the spark that starts the fire of revival in that church? God bless!

A couple asked for prayers for their ministry. God corrected me as I prayed, asking for Him to guide HIS ministry. We are nothing. It is ALL for His glory, not ours!
We are less than nothing. We are worthless sinners who have violated every law of almighty God, and we deserve nothing except to burn in hell for eternity.

He also said He brought a SWORD that would divide families. In fact if you think He was harsh and not meek, then your understanding of meek in His context is flawed.

The problem is that he is narrowminded and dead wrong. He sees only one way to serve the Lord - the one God called Paul Washer to. He sees every other way as wrong. Yes, a church needs a Pastor to serve the congregation. That is a good a valuable job and ministry. BUT what Washer is completely blind to is that there are many jobs to do in Gods kingdom and they are not all pastors. Some are evangelists (churchplanters) to take the Gospel to new places and then move on. This is what Paul the apostle did. and what Washer is ragging on like a blind infant. Both are needed. St. Paul planted churches and left then with pastors who stayed with them and nurtured them . Washer is blind as a bat.

Right on! I see the true servant of God in this man. We can be just so so so deceived by the so called ministry in the name of Jesus while in its essence making itself an idol. Amen, I felt alone in my view until I heard this.
I love Paul’s heart and I believe I understand what he’s communicating. My only rebuttal, or question rather, would be, shouldn’t our ministry and mission efforts flow from our love for Him? Not to say we shouldn’t love those who we are called to, but Kingdom mission, preaching, advancement of any kind, if it’s to be successful in His eyes, should be because we are so deeply in love with Him, as opposed to our love for the people. Our love for those we serve becomes a by product of our first love. I was just meditating on this this evening. Matthew 7:23 also came to mind

This is so refreshing to me. Of course we’ll love people when we love Him, and way more effectively as we focus on Him. But I’ve been seeing a repulsive amount of idolizing love of people over loving Jesus. It, like literally everything, is under Him. He is the highest. Everything was created for Him and through Him. He is ALL.
Loving Christ is loving others! Of course it’s important at times of struggles and trials to be reminded why exactly we ought to pour into one another and that is because it is what Christ would do and because we love Him we should want to respect and honor Him by continuing to love others.

Same!!! Our former Pastor was so UNLOVING and so controlling it‘s disgusting... He idolized himself and his own visions instead of actually serving GOD and dying to himself for the Church!
I think my previous pastor was a narcissist. He about drove me to leave a little church I’ve been to for 18 years. He only was there 2 years. I discovered that he was getting messages offline on sermon websites. There was no power behind his preaching. Thank God that he left the church before I did. Our new pastor and wife are very loving and will pray for you on phone, at your house, in church or when your walking out the church door. If you need anything, they will get it for you.

The entire lockdown not one call has been made to me to see how I am doing, he has bought so much division in our church, I am asking the Lord to lead me, cause being in this church under his leadership makes me feel like an outsider. And to be honest, everything that you have mentioned is exactly the state of my church right now.

It's so heartbreaking when the pastor wants the congregation to worship and comply to everything they say rather than being led by God. I've been asking God to lead me to a church where it's not man centred but God centred.

If you love him, then you will feed his sheep. That's Jesus simplifying it for Peter and for everyone else who would listen. I pray that God would open all of our hearts so that we wouldn't wait for our pastors to feed the sheep but that we would take the initiative to feed Jesus' sheep. The command to love is a command to all for all.

I am deeply convicted and I found the answer to my restless mind and this was it. I've been having fellowship with believers but wasn't ministering to those who are lost. Praise the Lord for using Sir P.D Washer to preach about this.
Wow. First 60 seconds in and I'm blown away. Pastor Washer is never afraid to do surgery. What would I give to be under his discipleship. Best I can do is yield to the Holy Spirit first and then apply his teachings in my life.

Context is everything. I'll need to remember this. People misuse that quite often to guilt others into agreement with whatever their "vision" is.
That's exactly what I was referring to in what I said people often do with God's word.
I really want to see this man in person. He's challenged me like no other and I have absolute respect for him, cuz I see the holy spirit working through him. He recognizes what we are, dying men and women who are just getting by through the sheer grace of god.

Definitely a good to point to bring balance. I think it may be limited tho as it seems to focus only on one of the five fold gifts of ministry. Very true that pastors carry a very heavy responsibility and shouldn't forget the "why" behind pastoring, but there are also people who operate as apostles, prophets, evangelists, and teachers, all potentially feeling their part is the most important. Even the Apostle Paul got rid of John Mark because he was whining about home. But thankfully Barnabas took the time to mentor John Mark and help him grow (eventually writing one of the gospels and becoming useful to Paul later). Both gifts were on display with Barnabas mentoring the difficult and Paul facing unimaginable persecution as he planted churches across the gentile world. Definitely a good word tho and very much appreciated to help remind those of us who are in pastoral ministry not to elevate the operation of the ministry over the purpose of the ministry which is to encourage, exhort, reprove and rebuke to help grow up the saints to be strong and powerful 🙌🙏

I had to repent . There has been something between me and the lord to the point where I almost didn't want to sing praise n worship any more because sometimes I would have encounters with him and other times it would feel empty and I was praying for an answer to why ,, somewhere along the way I idolized singing and it became my God more than the God I was singing to and he will share his glory with nothing or no one simple as that ... I think God for the rebuke he rebukes those he loves.. and godly repentance leads to change amen
This happened to me. He rushed through so he could sit with the big boys. I never returned.
Are you a lukewarm Christian. Don’t let the faith you stand in disappear. The enemy wants you to think you are a loser. Well your
not. You are a child or God. Stand on His promises. And on His salvation. Jesus loves you. Amen
