Many moons ago I only had a motorcycle as a vehicle for two and a half almost three years. My trip to work was 37mi one way. Didn't have enough money for a car so I got the bike new and was the only bike iv owned that saw all temps including sub freezing. Thank God for Fuel injection. Conditions like Rain, hale, sleet, snow wore out almost everything at least once, most things multiple times, just from wear and tear plus continuous cleaning in my apt living room at night. Got a house closer to work at a point where many things needed some addressing before it fell apart. 40k mi in the first year and a half. It was saved be the shorter trips the next year and a half before I finally got a car. Was a little over it as an only ride and took a bike break for a while but 80k later she did good. Just wish I could have babied it like all my other bikes before and since had been, so it wasn't so worn from milage and conditions, it racked up fast. Still in good shape just very used and hard ridden. I'd probably do it all the same, was never an easy decision or thing to do, but proved to myself and everyone else for that matter that it could be done.

@@thepodbaydoorshal Hard on body and bike. Bundling up in winter with the layers it is boarder line under control with such little movent in the body and limbs. Quite a bit like the Michelin man attempts a motorcycle. Also easy to see if someone takes care of their bike well or not because milage runs up on them hard and fast and if you aren't keeping up with it it shows big time

I commute year-round on my (only slightly) modified Triumph Speed Triple, which puts out 188hp. If it's raining or cold, I just throw on some Gore-tex gear. My commute is only five miles each way, and it's never a case of having to sit in traffic, since it's either a quick highway blast or a winding back-road. The way I looked at it, I could have bought a used Honda Civic, or a brand new super naked for the same price - the decision was obvious at that point.

I daily my bike too (little ninja 250) and I do it mostly because of traffic lol. My colleagues waste up to 30 minutes each day in traffic. I want to break everything while it's under warranty. 😁 So far they have warranty replaced the electric fans, exhaust servo motor, servo cable, rear passenger foot pegs, and they may have to replace the whole system. So far I have only paid for gas , the 500 mile maintenance, and a set of new tires. I'll buy my third set of tires in a few months.

I bought a surron in 2021 and man what a fun, I commute 50km a day and have the chance to ride only offroad, just 1-2 km road, and now that it's upgraded (more than 20hp now and more expensive as my FZ07 bought new Xp ) it's a hell of a fun commute, and as you say no need for cofee ^^, some mornings (like now, cold rainy and mudy, I really would prefer to take my car but after 1 minute on the bike I smile and think to myself " how the heck would you prefer being bored on a car following all the other cars" Now I wish I had a tenerre 700 instead of my FZ07, but damn is offrad maintenance expensive, even on a e-dirt bike. I commute 30 miles one way in very heavy traffic on my beat up old 2005 GSXR-1000 with around 93K miles. Bike's a bit modified as it started life as a race bike back in my club racing days. Once it finally dies I'm looking at one of these beasts. Always been a repli-racer only guy but this bike is close enough along with the better ergonomics (I'm 58). Now I have to decide on whether to get the V4 or V4S. Not sure the S is worth the extra money. Prefer the black fork tubes and don't need active suspension. Why did you go with the V4?
