- In this video Kevin and Taylor from Mathers on the Map give a full walk through tour of their DIY home made 2015 Mercedes Benz Sprinter 170" high roof cargo conversion camper van. This Sprinter camper self build out took over a year to convert but it was all worth it in the end. They have been traveling up and down the east coast searching for cool surf spots and are now heading out west.

Hands down, one of theeee best van designs! You made a real home, not a temporary shelter on wheels. So many added touches that commonly get left out of US van designs. A bathroom, a closet, a garage, even pantry sliders. I would probably have preferred a ceiling Murphy to pull down, considering your tall height, but I think you'll both be enjoying this build for a good deal of time. I wish you both the best! 💐

This is one awesome beautiful Van build...so full of sound structuring and yet has an appeal of lite-weight finesse. Very well designed...with emphasis on sturdy and durable functionality. Beautiful van build, very stylish and functional. Your van is among a very few best camper van I have seen so far. Love the interior and minimal gadgets you have in the van. Your "garage" with the built-in surf board storage and battery compartment with room too "grow"... You really think ahead :-). Thank you for sharing this beautiful van.

Lovely van, a real treat to see it! The deck is a great idea. You shade the roof from sun damage, and can mount solar on it, for easy removal. Also, it keeps solar panels cool with air flow under it. Smart. I must make a deck on my RV too. I'll be checking your videos to see how you did that in aluminum and decking. I really like that deck.
Inside layout was smart and efficient. Not too many people use pecan wood, and I find it very pleasing. A hint of pink and green streaking, and its different from the usual boring maple. Maple is the most boring wood. Nice to see a change. It looks fabulous.
That garage surfboard hanger was clever. So was the laundry bin. Nice ergonomics there. Also good to know what size inverter works for you with your level of electronics. Victron 3000 watts seems the match for my needs. Battery bank and solar panel watts are also useful specs.
You like the Keurig coffee machine? I find a small steel French Press to take up much less room. I was tempted to get the Keurig but there is too much eco waste, too pricey for the cups, and too large a footprint and uses up power. French Press has none of these issues, so try one sometime. Or a stovetop Espresso maker, small Italian one.

That sink is nice and the top when you put the water on no noise that's what I'm talkin about good job.. instead of those cheap motorized top dispensers that makes so much noise loud buzzing noise..
Thank you!! The water pump definitely makes some noise but it’s not bad, an accumulator would make it even more quiet, something I’ll consider in the next build!

I gotta say...i was ready to move into that tent, elephant topper...ha. Nice touch.
This is one of the best build I have seen. I would only want to change one thing. Having to make bed everday is tough. I would have less room for the garage but to hang a bed over the living room. Just use a winch to lower the bed and you have a bed.

Wow! Smart, brilliant and beautiful design layout. Yes it takes up space, but I wouldn’t either like to live without a toilet and shower in a van build. I never quite understood why people choose not to have a toilet and shower in their van or those who build a toilet that they pull out from under the countertop or cabinet. No way I would live with that. Three walls and a door to have some privacy in the toilet thank you

@@MathersOnTheMap you’re welcome. Did you guys ever look into a skoolie or bus life instead of a van build? I mean like you could’ve had an enormous extra amount of space in a skoolie and made that maybe feel even more of a home I guess. The only things I would take into consideration is fuel economy, more things to break on a bus, more maintenance and the larger vehicle itself. You almost have to have an extra set wheels towing behind the bus

Try it first. Shower inside can be a waste of space when you van open the back doors and use a curtain. On this build it works because you convert the bed to seating.

The design and colors are beautiful. I love the dining/living area. It's huge and the cushions look comfortable. I can see spending a lot if time around the table. I also like the bathroom door.

Really very nice build, especially first time build. The bed/dining combo was especially creative vs dedicated bed. Would be interested in hearing an update, after living this design, on their feelings on sacrificing the traditional garage space vs their design.

not the most entertaining . . . They LIE!! There videos are GREAT and V E R Y well explained 👍🏻👍🏻👌🏻 They are so calm and still easy to watch and fun to watch. 🤗🤗🤗 There tips for where to stay overnight are cool too. Maybe they come to Bavaria once, of course NO SURFING then, but a lot of hiking and ice cold mountain lakes 😉😄😄 Kevin explains well and they are both much fun.

Fantastic build. I am looking at doing something similar for my first build. I Iove the fact that you have the raised rear area which allows for both storage underneath and the convertible seating / sleeping area instead of a fixed bed. As well as boards I would also like to store bikes underneath. Please could you confirm if you think there would be enough space for 2 X bikes with front wheels detached on one side?

oooohhhhh I love this!!! I had a 66' Shasta Compact travel trailer that I installed a 2x2' shower with frp. Anyhow I realized when I was on the road that visiting cities and parking on roadside was not possible with a travel trailer. Seeing that it was 10x7' on the inside I have decided to convert a van and try it again (transmission blew after my 19th state).
