Musician Ditches Apartment Moves into Van Full Time - Nomadic VAN Life

- In this video Daphne gives us a tour of her 2015 Ford Transit 250 high top cargo van that she converted with her boyfriend into a DIY camper van for full time living. She moved out of here New Jersey apartment a few months ago and has been living the Nomadic lifestyle. Daphne is able to travel and teach music remotely. As a musician the floor plan was designed around her keyboard and allows an open space for her and her dog. This build out has a Natures Head composting toilet, Renergy AGM batteries, 2000W inverter and a Weboost cell phone booster. There is a 40 gallon fresh water tank as well as a grey waste tank. There are solar panels on the roof and a propane system for cooking and heat.

This is a very well built & designed van, the ideas are genius, like the propane box, & toilet box. And finally someone has built a real full kitchen in the van...I knew these vans could have an oven & a decent sink!! Love, love, love her van!!!

Really nice build. You might want to rethink your water tank location. When it’s full that’s 320 plus pounds sloshing around over the left rear wheel and it’s got a high center of gravity. In a perfect storm if you have to make an abrupt maneuver at highway speed that van will flip over. At a minimum you’ll probably get tread wear much faster on that wheel. Consider centering it flat over the rear axel and maybe add baffles.
Weight distribution can be important

Me to we’re in the same boat I would love to live this life someday. BUT I’d have to try it out first by renting a camper van before I commit. I’m a full time employee so I would be in my city most of the time. Good luck take steps to make that day dream comes true if you haven’t already.

I love this van build because as an amateur musician, I am thinking about doing something similar. I have a keyboard, guitar and two cellos (electric and acoustic) and I'm wondering where I would put it all if and when I get my van. I love the slide out drawer for the keyboard. I also love that she has an oven (I love to bake cookies) and a bathroom that has both a shower and composting toilet. All I need now, to get a van and have someone help me to build it out, especially when it comes to the electricals and plumbing. I would probably need to look for an econoline van, cellos are big and bulky. I also have 2 cats, so I'll need space for their litter box as well. They usually sleep on the bed with me.

_I love it, and it was very well thought out! When you pull the keyboard out, my jaw drop! That Bosch water heater is so good. The secret is to put a timer on the power side. I use a timer for mine, which has 6 timers; 5 minutes, 10m, 30m, 60m, 2 hours, and 4 hours. If you hit the 10 minute time one, it heats quickly, and the hot water will stay hot/ warm for hours. Hope this helps._

Thanks Sui! My problem is that my inverter starts smelling bad and smoking slightly after only 3 minutes of use?
Use of the water heater I mean. The inverter is on all the time for the mini fridge which draws almost no power

U need to do a series or a little sit down before each video where they tell you a little backstory on the person showing the van why they van living now.? Plans etc etc

Very impressive young woman! I'd love a small van like this as opposed to an extended length one, but there is no way I'd ever be able to fit all the features I want into it. A full wet bath with a cassette toilet, at least a 5 cubic ft fridge and a 6 ft bed are must haves for me and unfortunately all that isn't going to fit in a short van chassis.

*I was coming to see the layout because most newer vans like that are all built out the same, so I wasn't going to watch the whole thing. But she is an absolute joy to watch, I enjoyed every minute of the video and love her home, and furbaby!!! 💜🐾 You guys did a great job with the build and it's really well thought out. And I think the little touches, like different wallpapers ( 💜 the designs), the boards on the back door, the windows and the window box over the kitchen cabinets, just so many details make it feel like a real home. And I love the metal idea for your surround around your stove. And you have so much kitchen area for a small van. And you managed to have a bathroom.
