Tactile is the James Brand done right, imo
There is a good reason to run at 61 HRC rather than Larrin's suggested 63 HRC protocol: there is a protocol to heat treat magnacut without cryo that avoids retained austenite, and it ends up at 61 HRC. This reduces cost and you still get a ridiculously tough and rust resistant blade.
This is the knife that changed my EDC from 1 knife to 2. I carry a larger locking knife as my main, and now carry this for the extra slicey-ness also. Enjoyed the review!
For someone not great at sharpening higher edge retention means a lot. Now that I got a guided system it’s not quite as important but still very nice not to have to sharpen very often.
Thin grind, textured scales, great steel, made in the usa, and you can disassemble it. Tactile is killing it👍

I picked one of these up while watching your review of the Rockwall because it looks great and it was 100$ less but still uses the same materials. I was very pleased with the fit and finish, and the “action”. This thing is awesome at cutting almost anything a reasonable person would cut with it.
Man the Bexar actually looks better to me than the Rockwall. How fun that they make them after cities in Texas. Loving what Tactile is doing over there. 👍
I love the Baxer and carry it often in my fifth pocket as my second carry. Easy to pull out in front of clients if you need a knife and not scare them.
I see comments like this all the time and its so crazy to me. Are grown adults genuinely afraid of pocket knives?

@@gabrielbaker2667 apparently. I've definitely been told that it comes off as being overly aggressive or that they don't like being around knives. There's definitely people who think of knives as if you're carrying around in AK-47.
I made a leather knife slip with a pocket clip for my Bexar, and it's still thinner than a standard bugout. lol This knife is freaking amazing.

The 'Titanium is titanium' line got a chuckle from me. Well done! Also, since finding your channel 3 months ago and getting into knives I have bought 9 blades now. From $50 to $250. Now I am setting my sights on ones in the $350 or so range. I think I've been corrupted. :)
I plan on getting one eventually. I love slipjoints but hate hunting for ones hard to get (I'm looking at you GEC). This one seems readily available. Also Tactile Turn is awesome. I own a lot of pens from them
When you do get your hands on a GEC, it's worth it. Fit and finish is literally flawless.
I like your comment on the price being deceptive to "those not in the know". A new Camaro is much more likely to be stolen than a new Land Cruiser, and they started out 80K!
Even at lower hardness, Magnacut yields edge retention on par with S35VN, but with higher toughness than M4 and rust resistance in the LC200N range. It’s nice to see on a super thin blade like this.
Yes! Agree... smaller knives can be left with a harder Rockwell C (e.g. 63), but Magnacut is going to be pretty decently tough still at this hardness. Even with a small thin blade like this one, I'd like to be able to cut a zip tie and not worry about chipping.
I have a Rockwall...so naturally I need the Bexar now.

I spend most of my time on a college campus, so I have to be pretty discerning about what I carry. Lately I've been carrying a Cold Steel Lucky One with a Rike Hummingbird as my backup. The Bexar, and even the Rockwall, would be perfect for me.

Tactile says they only get raw material (titanium) and ball bearings from outside the US.
They even machine their own screws
I agree that A knife that thin would benefit more from extra edge retention than it would toughness. I’ve got magnacut on other knives and love it but Honestly I’d rather have 20CV on this one
You got it backwards. You need the extra toughness to avoid chipping with low edge thickness and low edge angle.
@@CKshouta I guess I didn’t think about it from that perspective. I guess that makes sense too. Either steel I’m sure it will perform great though.
Traditional Pocket Knives has the grey as well as the black DLC in jigged Ti. I’m grabbing one of them today, I just don’t know which one yet.
That knife has one of the better looking lanyards on it.
A very good review. Even if I like big ones like the the Espada XL by Cold Steel very much - I think, perhaps more as a fetish - this here is a completely different thing to me and of course for different use cases. At the moment I do have a Victorinox Spartan Wood as an EDC. But I will catch this one here, too. As I really like the minimalistic aspects. Its a beautiful and impressing small knife!

Looks like Tactile Knives quality is not good and their qualitiy control all over the place but not able to capture the issues. Forums post are everywhere of issues like blade wobble, bad blade centering, blade scratching the handle, screws loose or even stripped etc For a price point like here this is an absolute no go. Looks like Tactile knife is more like a fortune cookie, very different to their pens ...
