    Beyond the obvious intimidation here, that the meeting was held without her parents’ knowledge, consent, and presence are grounds enough for punishment.

    • @thepubliusproject

      Because administrators would tell them how unethical, immoral, and out of line they were. A student can't articulate those thoughts as well, so they target the students.

  • @saudade369

    She doesn't have to articulate what she thinks her first Ammendment rights to be. She only needs to be able to have them and to speak out when ever she feels, it doesn't need justifying to a board member for her to hold her right.

  • @StingofTruth
    @StingofTruth 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    To any student who may get put in a similar situation...
    1. Record it with at least audio recording.
    2. Answer every question with a question.
    3. After the person intimidating, i mean questioning you has spoken, before you answer you should take a breath analyze what they have said then firm a question to answer it with.
    Examples:
    Teacher: you haven't identified what you think your first amendment rights are?
    Student: doesn't the first amendment gaurantee what those rights are?
    Teacher: what do you think your first amendment rights are?
    Student: have you got a copy of the bill of rights? if so i assume you know how to read.
    Teacher: we don't think a protest will be safe.
    Student: what kind of violence are you planning on performing on the students of the school?
    Teacher: why are you opposed to equity/crt/equality?
    Student: why are you racist?
    EVERYTHING they say should be not be answered but questioned. It doesn't matter what it is. Question it. Make NO statements. Only ask questions.
    A learning environment means students get to ask questions. Questions are a way to put people in a tough spot because if they are violating tge law or ethics, or policy they are going to be VERY careful of what they say and are going to be VERY uncomfortable giving answers.

    It wasn't bullying so much as common tactics in sales where you want a specific outcome. (Not to hold a protest)
    Regardless there are a several problems the school board should have been well aware of.
    - discussing (and being wrong about) the first amendment - using scare tactics (cop getting hit by a car, challenging multiple locations, reprocusions, etc.)- no parent notification
    I could go on but there is obviously a problem here with the way this was conducted and handled.

  • @timsimmons9042
    @timsimmons9042 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Of course they will ignore their own improprieties. Most Karen and ken clubs (aka school boards) do. In the recording played I didn’t hear the president articulate a valid reason not to protest. Believing the student should not be doing it wasn’t a reason, just her own weak opinion. And let’s face it, not notifying the parents and having a two on one meeting with a minor was meant to intimidate. I’ve never heard of any board members calling students in for a private meeting for anything. That’s what you have teachers,principals, and superintendents for. This board has definitely overstepped.

  • @mikepierce6092
    @mikepierce6092 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Unfortunately weather this did or did not happen recently is not the issue, the fact of the Matter is no one has the legal authority to question a minor without the expressed permission and consent of the parents, and obviously because these kinds of issues were not addressed as they should have been as it happened , and it was sweeped aside as unimportant, by those in charge , is the big reason why education as a whole is denigrated and poorly presented especially to the youngest of children.

    I didn't heat anything close to bullying. It's called being nervous while talking to someone in authority. I would have been uncomfortable talking to a school board president when I was in high school too. Doesn't mean she was bullied. It happens to everyone. Out society is insane.

    • @VideoRehash
      @VideoRehash 8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      +Stlbr727 listen to the unedited audio, throughout the meeting they frequently discredit this student's right to express, organize, and speak freely, and blatantly ignore her talking points in favor of the exact things she identifies as ineffective.
      If the school board felt there was no serious concern that could be raised with how they handle their teacher evaluations, they wouldn't be so inclined to try to de-escalate this student, but instead would have simply taken punitive action. This is intimidation, poorly disguised as concern.

    I agree with the school board on this one to a certain degree. They should have been admonished for the meeting and apologized to the student. I don't believe what they did deserve that they resign. The girl looks like a snotty-nosed bully herself, and believe I remember the type when I was in school. The scale of what these admins did does not rise to level of having to replace all of them because one entitled kid gets her panties all bunched up. It would have been different if they actually stopped a protest.
    This is how ANTIFA members are formed. She has got to learn she cannot have her way all the time. Respect is earned.
