My mind is blown. Between this, several other POWERS songs, and Classic from The Knocks w/POWERS ... I'm kind of stunned. Distinct instrumentals, chords, and melodies, throaty singing that isn't mixed in at max-volume, variations in vocal delivery and style. Influences from parts of the 70s, the 80s, the 90s, and the early 2000s. This is music if music had continued to evolve as it had, instead of taking the decade-long detour to blandness chosen by so many bands, artists, and genres. It's bizarre that this kind of music is stuff you have to go looking for, and you very well may not find it if you don't know where to look. Long live alt-music, and whatever it is that makes POWERS create music like this, please let it influence the rest of the industry. Don't want everyone to sound like POWERS, but their understanding of what makes real, good, music, and the distinct sound of a band rather than a band making sounds is desperately needed.
