The 3 series looks the best, probably drives the best and sounds the best in all trim levels. The 5 series looks like a Camry and the 7 series looks like what would happen if Geely made a 7 series knockoff.
The 5 series has a lot of qualities, but I find it still too long & large. Therefore I think that the 4 series is the right combination of the 3 and the 5. And in the electric version it has better autonomy than the 5. In the end, what we are waiting for is die [elektrische] Neue Klasse 3 series.
3 series definitely looks good, the other Bmws have very questionable design. No matter how good they are, you have to look at them. Audi and Mercedes have far better design at the moment. Such a shame.
Thank you for the detail. At the early part of the review you ask whether you need a Roller or Bentley if you can have a BMW7. Clearly you do not unless you are a footballer or other celeb for which they may be essential equipment, possibly even tax deductible. I think the question emerging is whether the drive to make cars more premium is missing the point; there is just so much to go wrong now. Toyota have always done reliability which I prise over ambient lighting and all the other goodies which are going to stop working after a year or so. Dacia have it right with manual wind up windows and physical locking buttons. The rest is froth.
In terms of exterior design, only the 3 of this potpourri convinces me, but it is too small for me. Unfortunately, the 3, 5 and 7 all have this cheap, unsporty and uncomfortable touch-only catastrophe on board. The 2 and 4 Series were already technically outdated (infotainment wise) when they were released. In other words, BMW is now also a total failure and my last G31 was probably the last from BMW for the time being. That wouldn't be so dramatic if AUDI & MB weren't also withdrawing completely from the premium segment.
yea, completely lost the plot with their design. Waaaay waaay too much going on! I miss style.. Clearly not a thing anymore.. Just bombard with too many features and textures, and thats apparently stylish..

3 Series seems to be the right balance. But if I was buying just for myself, would go with the 2 series M240i :)
Same car, different configuration, BMW Canada sold 1er as BMW Concentrated, 135i brilliant commuter.

Man the line up is a disgusting sight ugly and uglier except the base 3series which is sad

China and USA are the main markets for BMW nowadays, so get used to these ugly cars, we're never going back again.
