The Movie "The Karate Kid" was quite an educational breakthrough in learning what martial arts is all about. But not only that, it also shows you how unfortunately there are people as in the case of the characters, Freddy Fernadez at 3:30 of the video...Alan at 4:60 of the video...and Chucky at 5:60 of the video, I mean who will be very polite and friendly, welcoming the whole bit, but all it can take, is some other rowdy guy to target you as in the case of Daniel with Johnny on the beach and that's where they can turn out to be social cowards because just as the narrator says with Freddy, He's a very nice guy not afraid to make friends, but due to the influence of his social environment he would rather choose that path and make fun of the victim....Just as in the scene on the beach where Daniel is laying there beaten, Alan says to Freddy "You sure pick cool people to be friends with Freddy, like where'd you find this guy?"....However a good friend is someone who will not leave your side if your not in the wrong, but unfortunately, they are far and few between.
I was in 4th grade when this came out. I remember going to the movie theater in my home town with some friends of mine. The thing about this movie is that I was bullied as a kid in my neighborhood by 2 dudes. One lived about 5 houses down and he used to chase me down and the other dude live about 2 blocks away. Charles was the one who lived next to me and one day he came at me with his im going to beat you up crap. I pulled out a BB gun and he stopped dead in his tracks. I never shot him and he never came at me again. He died of cancer yrs later. The other guy I kinda of became friends with years later due to the fact that when we got into high school, I was a tad over 6ft and weighed 245lbs. I was his blocker as the Varsity right tackle and he was the QB. So I hated bullies from the get go. My senior yr I worked for an oil company as a pump jack operator and had just got off work with my oily ass clothes driving my 1983 Jeep to a buddies house. I was sitting at his kitchen table and looked out his kitchen window and notices the freshman kids across the street on the front porch, one looked like Garth from Waynes World and the other like the red headed soda store clerk from the Simpsons. They stopped a small kid on a bike with some groceries in his arms. I watched them straddle the front tire and slap him in the head then let him go. So my buddy and I got in the car and went after that little kid. I told him to stop and got out and said, "what did those guys say to you"? He said they told him they were going to beat him up if he ever came back down that street again. I told that kid he is welcome to ride his bike anywhere he pleases. We got back in the car and started back to my buddies house when there is ole friggin Garth himself with the red headed soda jerk. I told my buddy to stop the car, I got out and I slammed that kid to the ground and stood over him and told him if he ever picks on any kid in the neighborhood again, I was going to kick his ass and his friends ass just for watching. They never messed with any of those kids on that street again from what I know. Doesnt mean they didnt but I felt better about it.
You forgot Darryl Vidal and the big Cobra kai-dude that he defeats in his first shown match. They only had a few seconds of screen-time, but so did Larry B. Scott and he was on the list.
