      If you need a real truck, the only option is double cab. If you need an SUV to carry passengers in comfort, get an SUV. The crew max is a compromise. Compromises are usually not very good at either role.

      Or Crew Max if you plan to off road and will store all your tools, spare parts, larger tire, etc., in the bed and so won't be hauling other stuff anyway.

    I had a 2016 Crewmax that I loved which was recently totaled in a nasty crash. . 3 days ago I purchased a 2020. Double cab because I'm and Outdoorsman a camper. And I can squeeze my hunting quad in the back of that six and a half foot bed. And still close the tailgate. . On my 2016 I had to have the tailgate down. Which made The Back-up Camera worthless. 99% of the time my back seats were up and I used it for cargo and quickly throwing stuff in the back. With the seats up in the double cab there still plenty of room back there for storage. Plus it has built-in storage under the seat for things like jumper cables gloves Etc. Both trucks are outstanding. I hope to keep the snoo on many many years. It comes to a personal choice on whether you need. Bed space or legroom in my case. I don't carry enough passengers. My kids are grown, but adults can certainly fit back there without any problem as witness by you. .

    You know , i just purchased double cab while always dreamed of crew max but crewmax was not available. When I started using Double cab, I realized how stupid I initially was. Double cab is way more practical. More space in the bed is always a win. So many times this extra foot of space in the bed saved my bud. And regarding rear seat nobody ever complained they lacked room in the back. Furthermore this smaller rear door is very handy in tight parking spaces, when kids rapidly open them not damaging other cars. Doubles cab turns out to be more practical , it is just sometimes you need time to admit this

    Double cab, I’m 6’6” and I can still seat someone behind me when I’m driving. Not sure why everyone wants the crew max when for most the back seats sit empty (people) the vast majority of the time. I like/need the extra 1’ of space in the bed. Plus there’s a substantial $ savings with the double cab.

    • @MegaScorpio43
      @MegaScorpio43 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      thanks kevin that's why I'm going to save some $$ by buying the double cab as many people have made the same point as you have but when it comes from a 6'6" person it gives me more confidence that I won't need that big rear seat area. Question though....How is it with you sitting in the back seat? Do you have enough room?

    • @kross1261
      @kross1261 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Steve austin if I was sitting directly behind a 6’6” driver it would be a little cramped. But I’ve been on a couple trips where I’ve had big people sit behind me and I just adjust my seat ahead 1-2 notches (manual adjust all the way back) and their fine. Btw 2007 240k miles very few issues. Great trucks

    • @MegaScorpio43
      @MegaScorpio43 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@kross1261 Thanks Kevin your input is all I need to justify not purchasing the Crewcab version for the extra space. Why? Because very seldom would I ever have a 6' 6" person in the rear seat and front too as there aren't enough of you around. Cool.

      Same. I have the double cab and not a fan of that curbed top corner. They’re getting rid of that weird angle on the new one now. Toyota really listened this time around. Now comes in 6 lug wheels instead of 5, 6.5 bed on a crew max, even went hybrid for the abysmal gas mileage, bed now comes in the hard plastic that the Tacoma’s get, and rear lockers for the TRD Off-Road. Also surprised that the iforceMax engine isn’t exclusively just for the TRD Pro model.

  • @j228rod

    I have the 2019 Tundra TRD Pro in the CrewMax. My previous vehicle was a 4Runner so the bigger cabin was more appealing to me since I don't really need a long bed. When I don't have rear passengers, I fold up the rear seats and most of my boxes, groceries, etc. fit inside so I don't even have to use the bed...

      Randy Jackson I just bought a 2020. I wanted to beat the change. All the bugs worked out. Plus I personally think it’s a great looking truck. Toyota so far builds to last. Not to last 100,000 miles and fall apart. I know the current generation is great. They mileage is not great. But my truck doesn’t stop and restart on its own. Also, stays on all 8 all the time. First year trucks are always the worst.

    I'm not a huge fan of limousine backseats in trucks.
    The Toyota Double Cab offers the most amount of leg room over the Silverado and Ram Quad.
    Ford is sticking with the SuperCab door that's not independent of the first row. Nothing super about it.

    Between tail gate extenders (adds two feet), bed extenders, rack systems, cleats, and roof racks, storage systems, and massive fold up back seat storage. I’m not sure how that extra foot makes a difference. Can’t extend your cab.
    I’d have to sit in both to make the determination, but having that extra passenger room in the crew max seems pretty clutch to me. Definitely wish you could get a 6.5 on it, but here we are.

    The wife wants a cewmax because we have twins and a dog, but I think a 5.5ft bed in a truck is borderline useless, you might as well get a large suv at that point. Plus as others and the video mentioned the double cab is literally thousands cheaper. In the end, I'm married, so it will probably be the crewmax. I do like the room but that bed kinda defeats the purpose of dropping a ton of cash on a full size truck.

    I took the double cab. For me, the bed has to be longer than the cab. I don't like the look of a cab that's bigger looking than the box. And the dbl Cab is plenty big for my kids.

    double cab all the way unless you're constantly giving rides to 7 ft tall friends who insist on sitting in the back seat

      NOT the only reason for a bigger back seat area...
