Hi Anne-Renee, after almost 3 years of working with artificial, I can't wait to launch back into ALL things living in the botanical floral world. I need to reignite a passion for growing and arranging flowers freshly picked from the garden & an appreciation of the beauty of all seasons. Very excited. Warm regards Astar
I just discovered you what a fantastic find!😊 I really like how you create yours magnificent urns and pots. Do you have any episodes just on creating proper resepticals? Can you attach them please?
Yahoo Stephanie, I was sitting thinking about party plans for this year,s decorating for St Patrick's day and your message popped up. This is a great design and I'm not going to reinvent the wheel. I'll just do this one again. So thank you. Cheers Astar
Astar's Place Oh my gosh! You spoke to me! 😃😃😃😃 Thank you! And thank you for what you do! Flowers make me happy and I don’t know why. Your passion is contagious💞
@@royaldiadem762 here is a story of great sadness. I was at the Flower Market yesterday and the I think I was the only person quietly enjoying every bloom and all fragrances they gave off. Not one person seemed to take time or have time to just enjoy the sheer beauty of all the flowers. Now that's very sad! Love for now Astar
@@AstarsPlace its unfortunate! Each bloom and bud is it's own authentic, unique being. I don't understand myself how happy fresh flowers make me. They just do😊🌺💐
This is a BEAUTIFUL arrangement, but can I please make a request? Can you please zoom in on the foam so we can see where the placement of the flowers are in the foam?
Bernardette Avogadro13 Hello Bernardette, thank you for your message. How did your design turn out? please drop me a picture to my gmail as I'm keen to see. Kind regards Astar
Beautiful arrangement! I am going to do this for the Altar in my church for this weekend. Do you think Hypericum berries would work in it. What color would you go with white or green berries? Also where can i find the urns at? The work you do is amazing!
Mark O'Hearn Hi Mark. Pleased you liked the design. Hypericum berries will look terrific. I'd go for either green or white. Regarding the urn, look in garden shops as that is where I find mine. Unfortunately they are usually either terracotta or concrete, weigh a ton and a wash of paint. The effort is always well worth it once design is complete and in location. My chalk paint recipe works great on porous surfaces. Keep me posted with the end result. Cheers Astar
Hey Aster~ Gorgeous... you, your designs, your instructions, your kindness and generosity, your Prestige Botanicals... and your incredible creations. Every single one I say the same thing: THIS is my favorite! ;) Question: I found some urns on Amazon, but they are plastic; and I'd like to "age" them if possible. Down below in the Comments, you told Mark O'Hearn that your chalk paint works well on porous surfaces. How about plastic?
Hi Cheryl, I recently redeveloped my chalk paint recipe and I suppose I should thank Covid for this. If we hadn't been in lockdown and if I hadn't decided things needed a spruce up, then the new improved recipe wouldn't be here to share. Cheryl it is so super easy and why I didn't think of it sooner is beyond me. First up, possibly all my urns now are either plastic or fiberglass. Long gone are the heavy cast-iron plinths and urns and as for the crushed marble - gone gone gone. I'm far to old to be lifting and moving things heavier than myself. Here is the recipe- 1/3 cup water 1/3 cup plaster of Paris Mix to a nice pancake consistency. Add the above to a cup of flat or Matt acrylic paint in a colour desired. Pour and store into a screw top jar. There is more than enough to create a beautiful chalky finish to an urn 23" high x 18" width across opening. When you apply, dip in your brush and stir a bit and then slap it on roughly. Apply one coat & let it dry - which is really fast, and then another. Two coats should be enough. Then to protect, you can use wax. Now the wax you buy is expensive, but shoe polish which is basically a coloured wax works nicely, as discovered. Or sometimes I just use a water based clear vanish. I've used it on almost everything inside and out doors. The other things you can use is sand in the mix which gives a great texture and to colour nothing wrong with a look around your spice cupboard. Curry, Chilli, Paprika etc, or a bit if dirt rubbed over the finished project. The list of possibilities is endless. Tbh, I'd rather use this than spray can paint. Omg I hope I've helped. If you need to talk this through just direct message me on my instagram @astarsplace and I can video call & I can walk you through it. Very warm regards Astar
@@AstarsPlace Hey Astar~ I hope you are doing well these days. Especially as New Zealand seems to be trending downward? Well, I found you because of Covid.... I used to read. A lot. Now I'm watching Astar's Place videos. I love every freakin' one! It's been a while now since I've read a book. But my world is even more crazy beautiful now. Thanks to you! And to Prestige Botanicals! ;) Thank you for this! I am so excited! I've seen several urns on Amazon that I quite like, but they are plastic. And need artistic textural help. (I've been looking at embroidered appliques and carved architectural elements on Etsy to attach to urns and other pots to give them some dimension, etc.) Now I'm going to have to get one or two or three so I can play with your redeveloped chalk paint. Thank you for sharing this! And for offering to help if I need it! You never cease to amaze me! I'll play some first and see what I see. Thank you again for your sharing and your kind generosity! Take good care and stay safe!
@@cherylb6755 the 🌎 is in a terrible shitty state and I'm appalled and left speechless. As for here in NZ, Auckland is still at level 4 with the rest of the country at level 2 which means they can safely move around. Everything is on hold and my thoughts go out to small business owners and people trying to make ends meet. Honestly it's a mess. Covid though, has opened us up to rethinking life and how we can make it a better place moving forward. I'm now into fully appreciating what I have and finding ways of how to spread the joys of all things botanical. My mother loved saying, 'nothing like a day in the garden to bring things right'. I never fully understood what she meant, but I sure do now. I reckon it's the fresh air that puts things right. Like you I too love a good book, but more so playing with vases and flowers. Keep me posted with your progress. Kind regards Astar
