How do you feel about the Rival? You can get a 10% discount using code 'HOME' in the Crytek Shop: shop.crytek.com/?ref=33518 Small edit: The Romero has 13 shells. Point stands: You're gonna want ammo with the Rival during a match
My favorite shotgun (except terminus with levering) I'm a slightly above average console player and having that follow up shot is a life saver for my at times shitty aim😂
For future reference. The Romero does not have 7 shells at base. It has 13. The store is currently bugged for all weapons that allow multiple ammo types and only shows half of the ammo. Likely due to some weirdness with the two ammo slots for custom ammo. As such, the Romero has more ammo than the Rival. This can be seen with the Sparks, Springfield, Martini, Berthier, and even the Bomblance as well. Any weapon with the capability of taking two different ammo types, not including the Lemat and Drilling, show half their proper ammo reserves.
Just wanted to say that I don't even play H:S, I just live your writing and your delivery so much, I have watched every one of your vids at least once. Your scripts manage to surprise me with awful jokes and your delivery has the same vibe of a 9th grader trying to be smooth with his crush and failing miserably, and I love them both. The effort you put into these videos to make them more than a run of the mill weapon review shows wonderfully and I can't wait to see more. Sadly the algorithm hasn't been blessing you as much as you deserve, but I hope you remember that quality is more than views and likes and that stuff
My Argument is though, that the bow is cheaper than a Handcannon- Flechette and also makes you bleed plus can one tap on medium distances if you master it, shoots also relatively fast, gives you your ammo back & and is quiet.
I discoverd recently that i have more success with the flechette. Especially the Rival works VERY fine with flechette, had nice rounds storming the lair. Its cool that you brought it up now!
Rival flechette with sparks pistol with 1 slot of incendiary is such a powerful loadout. You can kill from any distance and put a lot of pressure on teams as a solo. If your aim isnt the best, you can always bring a derringer as back up. I was happy to see it in the video. Not a lot of people use it from what I've seen. Nice video as always. Thank you for your dilligence!
@Nitsugalego only other weapon that works with the redneck in my opinion is the bomblance. Become one with the blitz while screaming and banjo music blares in the background
Flachette Caldwell Rival is one of if not my actual favourite gun in the game. It allows for a very unique, strategic, almost fencing-like playstyle where you first make them bleed and then have to push your advantage well to get the kill. Blow for blow. Pair that with a long-ammo secondary (Uppercut, Obrez) and you have probably my favourite loadout in the game. OP? No. But very fun, flexible and unique. Edit: And I also really like the long reload since it really forces you to consider your shots. Makes the game unironically so much more interesting to me. Honestly, in this game I love guns with akward reloads in general xd. I feel like thats how this game is meant to be played.
Well I never called it the heartbeat of the bayou before but I think I'm going to now. You instantly put a sound in my head of two rhythmic shots being fired and sounding like a heartbeat.
6:12 Don't play hunt, but the handcannon seems like the prefect little companion for a sniper rifle. Plink em from a distance. Then they star think "alight, this little punk's gonna keep shootin me from her, then im gonna get in an show him what for!" They rush in, and you greet them, with twin barrels of buck. Because nobody expects the sniper to run at you.
I feel its best ammo type is flechette. It turns it into an odd-ball weapon that is good at close-quarters with the only thing beating it being other shotguns within their OHK range (and at that point not much beats those weapons regardless). It is awkward to use just because needing to two tap puts a massive strain on ammo and then the need to reload, and I would argue in most cases a Romero will serve better but if you plan on trying to soften targets or do some sort of combo shot, it works well. A personal load-out I've been trying is the LeMatthew with Rival Handcannon packing Flechette (and slugs in the LeMatthew). Tag them with Flechette then hit them with the Long Ammo, fairly quick and dirty to fight with but retains a good set of options for how to fight.
This is by far my favourite shotgun (though terminus+levering can be fun for incendiary memes). It's cheaper than a *lot* of other options, even with custom ammo, and it's just so fun to use-plus I love me a boomstick. It doesn't leave you totally screwed like the romaro does if you whiff your first shot or there's two guys, and the quick follow-up does a lot for the range. Personally I combo it with a pax-it's decent range, but okay closer up if you don't have time to reload your primary. And I will absolutely back up flechettes as the most fun ammo type. Though I will say they really shine as the follow-up shot for a sparks or something.
I personally love to pair the Rival with a Scottfield and use close ambush tactics. If I’m caught out at distance, the Scottfield is my pride and joy for either aimed shots or suppression. Something about firing buckshot by surprise into someone’s ribs at four meters is always so fun. Even better when I say “Hi there!” through VOIP.
The correct response during that last clip while you were on fire was: -First Kill- 'You're a legend' No... -Second Kill- 'Now I'm a legend' lol honestly though I could barely see and you 1 tapped both of em, great video and clips!
Remember, flechette pairs well with the mindset for pumping 2 shells into somebody. Unless its a far range most of the time that hunter is not going to be in a good spot, if they didn't die to the second shot. It happens way more often then it should but ive hit someone before they turn a corner, only for them to pop out and die to the second shot. And honestly, handcannon with flechette doesn't gimp the range too much, so you might not kill them in the second shot, but they probably die to bleed shortly after
Buckshot Rival and FMJ Conversion never let me down. An occasional whiff here and there, but fanning gets the job done as the last resort. I started playing 10 days ago and tried out almost ever shotgun, til I finally arrived in the DoomGuy fantasy and been grandslamming lobbies for couple of days now 😊
The Rival Handcannon with flechette is one of the best sidearms in the game if you've got quartermaster or your main weapon is a 2 slot. It doesn't matter that it can't one tap a hunter if my opponent is already wounded, and even if they aren't; very few sidearms can 2 tap a hunter at 20 meters in the time it takes a nagant officer to cycle 1 shot.
I don't know why people hate on Flachette. I use it in my "warm up" loadout which is a spectre/flachette and caldwell pax/FMJ. You tag them heavy with the bleed and then chase with either another shotgun shot or shoot through their cover with FMJ. It puts so much pressure on people and usually follows up with a secured kill.
I always use Flechette Rival with a poison hand crossbow and run antidote….it works amazingly well but you have to be ultra aggressive, my 2 regular team mates run rifles to control the long range engagements
The Rival and the Specter are probably the best Cost/Value Shotguns at the moment. They cost like nothing and mostly kill after 1 shot but can shoot another time pretty fast.
I probably have more kills on the Rival and Rival HC than any other shotty in the game. Using Quartermaster to bring the HC with some long ammo rifle is probably my favorite loadout in the game; it gives you the ability to stifle pushes and push buildings in close quarters with the kind of instant lethality that rifles lack unless you're an aim god.
Shot a guy through a fence at point blank range with flechette, got a hit marker, shot him again, got no kill... the lack of pen and that experience is why I'll likely never use flechette again on the double barrel
There is a good reason for the "pennies" having a 5. Crytek is from Germany. And Here in Germany we Had the "Deutsche Mark" before the Euro. And its little coins we're Not calles Cents Like today but "Pfennige". Which translates to Pennies, and there also was a 5 Pfennig coin. So i guess this is Kind of a German Easter Egg. I think the Leaves around them on the coins were also on the coins. Greetings from Germany.
I keep seeing Home realize how slept on flechettes are. Maybe one day people will find Spectre flechettes & realize just how far away you can kill people
The rival having the least amount of ammo (drew with the crown) and the fact that you so often have to rely on that 2nd shot to put your enemies down always feels so bad to me. I could bring a romero and reliably one-hit up to 13 people, or I could bring a rival and have to 2-tap about 5 before running out of ammo. That said, it's my go-to for flechettes!
I believe that the penny shot is actually half cent coins so that's actually a .5 not a 5, granted that could vary well be something that I completely made up and convinced my self of so take it with a grain of salt.
Am I the only one who thinks you should be able to grab two types of ammo for the rival? It functions the same way as a Romero like you can fish out the shells and pop in whatever else
You dont have to make anymore weapon guides Home. I'll still support them, but I've fallen in love with the Drilling. No other gun can compete. I've only played without it once this past week and that was to finish a pesky sparks challenge
i love the rival but it desperately needs a new variant or something. been using it for so long i need something to spice it up. would love to see a “swift” variant with an extractor that speeds up the reload at the cost of one of your shells if you do a partial reload. make it only available for the hand cannon for balance if it needs it i don’t care, just gimme something
