I never get tired of listening to the snippets of Ariel's guitar skills ... I really hope to get the chance to see him live one day! Not seen that Collings before so it was very interesting to hear the sounds he pulled from it. Those pickups seem a tad smoother than P90's to me. Cheers TGM
I think he gets that smooth tone on any guitar you put in his hands. Watch him demo stuff on Carter Vintage Guitars channel and you’ll see it must be the player.
How he effortlessly plays sophisticated stuff on either tuning. Either with his fingers or combination of slide and fingers. All kinds of wonderful chords and partial chord movement. My brain can't wrap itself around that in standard tuning, much less going back and forth like that.
Great video, many thanks Ariel. You're great at this - as well as a guitarist and songwriter! Sooo much better than the usual oh-so-cool interviewer-led interviews we have to put with. And good to see Dan Steinhardt from GigRIg yet again providing elegant solutions!
So yes, Ariel's playing with this is unquestionably amazing. But honestly what really blew my mind were the tones he was getting. Goddamn did he have his bases covered.
Yeah Star Wars he snuck it in!! Ariel pick of pedals is not like most setups and I can take that into when I build my little train pedal board but then he's like nothing too crazy y'all well except I have 3 pedals underneath my train pedal like that won't cost you no more. hahah thanks big bro Ariel God Bless ya heart and all your parts!!
I could listen to this man play all day through just his straight clean (ish) amp. He really has got an extraordinarily refined touch on the instrument. However, I just cannot see the appeal of those first 3 pedals that make his guitar's low strings sound like a wet fart through dampened cardboard underpants.
Ariel is amazing. He is so refined and esoteric, I wonder if there are any women at his shoes or does he only appeal to the the guitar playing anoraks.
What a vocabulary on the guitar, everything is so classy and tasteful.
"I'm fortunate to be using" .....this guy is class.
That Collings guitar almost made me cry. So beautiful, so warm, rich playing!
Yes me too Gracefull tone!
I could listen to Ariel's playing all day long!!!
Was lucky enough to catch Ariel and Josh on their recent UK tour. Sounds as good live as he does in this vid.
Damn', I knew this guy was great from the Andertons videos, but his playing in this video is off the charts...
Gabriel Moreira You gotta see him live...
He always knocks me off my feet. So unique and surprising.
For me a complete new and wonderful world of guitar playing.
I love how he just zones out for a minute at 2:26 and plays. Ariel is one of the greats!!!
I love your playing/musicianship. Been playing guitar all my life for shelter and food.
The low end on the collings 🤤 sounds so rad!!
Ariel is a beautiful musician/artist. Love his whole vibe. He certainly has paid his dues. Well done!
Well that was the coolest one of those I've ever seen. He is such a monster player
Great stuff Ariel!
Love the slide rendition of May you never lay your head down
I appreciate the high quality video production. (Aswell as the obviously amazing Ariel Posen taking us for a cool ride)
The small play through of ‘May you never’ at 15:32 was stunning
I caught this... what a beautiful version with a slide...

Thanks!

Wonderful player, seems like a nice guy too👍
So enjoying this guy!
WOOF. I need that Broadcast pedal in my life.
API TranZformer GT kills that

Thanks so much for sharing. So tasteful.
Look It's" Ariel Slidewagon " again ! Great player,I'd love to see this tour !
Ariel is the real deal.
Legend! Love that board
Great video, many thanks Ariel. You're great at this - as well as a guitarist and songwriter! Sooo much better than the usual oh-so-cool interviewer-led interviews we have to put with. And good to see Dan Steinhardt from GigRIg yet again providing elegant solutions!
Nice version of "May You Never"....good one Ariel....
Thanks for the great post!
Wow, first time I've heard this cat. Very special player.
So yes, Ariel's playing with this is unquestionably amazing. But honestly what really blew my mind were the tones he was getting. Goddamn did he have his bases covered.
That clean tone!
Such nice playing.... ♪
Very underated channel
Tastiest player around!
Really really great stuff
Pro trick: you can watch series on InstaFlixxer. I've been using it for watching a lot of movies recently.
@Riley Easton yea, I have been watching on InstaFlixxer for since november myself :D
@Riley Easton Yup, been watching on instaflixxer for months myself :)
16:49 holy moly
dude can play! and that Collings sounds great!
Love the John Martyn ‘doff the cap’!
but the amps? tell us more about those lovely amps.
I like the look of those quartermasters.
lot of fun
Great Video! Congrats!
The Collings...oh my.
Ariel, I love your tones. I notice you switch between slide and fingering chords. How is your action set in order to accomplish that??
Medium high.. he uses 17 to 19 gauge strings turned down to C
The grohlsh strap locks are awesome , I wish I had known about them in my youth to save me replacing all my guitars with strap locks
Amazing!! Specially the playing!!
WINNIPEG ROCKS!
Seems he likes really warm tones.
Time for an update!
Oh my god he's so freacking good
16:43 and onward. it should be illegal to have a tone that good. Especially that antique.
Playing a John Martyn song is very hip ;-)
His pedals seemed set up for the non-Standard tuning? Sounded so much better with the Collins
MONSTER player!
Yeah Star Wars he snuck it in!! Damn straight I paid good money to see this.
Beautiful,,Thanku
he looks like Paul on 'hey jude' video clip
Ok. This is how to play guitar
I love how he frets notes above the slide.
come on, this is just joey landreth without glasses!!!
If someone could tell me what's going on musically between 9:01 and 9:20 that'd be much appreciated :)
Just a light bit of pentatonic shred
Swindon massive
What capo does Ariel use? Thanks 15:20
It looks like a Paige capo
“Let me tune that up. You guys paid good money to see this” 😹
Anyone who uses an Octahive and a Broadcaster, knows good tone 👌
wtf? 0.19's strings?!
Tuned down a couple of whole notes. Then it is another thing.
The heavier the gauge the better for slide imo
Tuned down to C
16:46, anyone else's face go into guitar gurning mode ?...
What size is his pedalboard?
Rrouth99 if it’s the same as a metro 24 it should be 24”X8”.
I could listen to this man play all day through just his straight clean (ish) amp. He really has got an extraordinarily refined touch on the instrument. However, I just cannot see the appeal of those first 3 pedals that make his guitar's low strings sound like a wet fart through dampened cardboard underpants.
Go see him live. You'll understand.
Ariel is amazing. He is so refined and esoteric, I wonder if there are any women at his shoes or does he only appeal to the the guitar playing anoraks.
His playing is absurd. I feel offended
I thought that was Star Wars ! Ok !
He's got a distinct sound...even on 'clean' mode, its distinctly fat and full...
I loooooove Ariels playing sooo much, but his tone in this vid...I just couldn’t connect with it:/
absolutely ridiculous musicianship.
Meaning?...
He's such a good player but I'm 5 mins in and every tone sounds like fuzzy brittle ass
To me it sounds fairly dark, I wouldn’t think that would cut so well since it’s so low end sounding
Fine player. But I'm sorry - a lot of the settings on that board/those pedals sound sh*+ ...
Dude ditch the octa hive. its awful.
