@9:57 - _'Traditionally we use a product called crema d'alba (spelling?).'_ That piqued my interest. Searching around I found crema de alba, a cream, cacao, and vanilla liqueur... from Spain. That can't be it. So, I switched my searches using Italian and found plenty of torrone dei -morti- handi-foil recipes mentioning crema alba. Eureka! Or so I thought. It got peculiar. Every Italian recipe states it's from Campania. It states it's a mixture of sugar and vegetable oils. It states it's difficult to find in elsewhere in Italy. And then the recipes said.... use Nutella. This crema alba is some super secret recipe. Or the owners of Nutella have connived with all of Italy's cooks to replace crema alba. You should next tackle crema alba. I gotta know the mystery. Happy Christmas, everyone.
Is there anything more adorable than Harper serenading Eva in Italian? I think not!❤ The way Harper is completely enamored with Eva is one of the biggest reasons I watch this channel. Well, that and the fact that I'm an absolute "purest" when it comes to cooking authentically Italian. Best cooking channel in You Tube!
I made my own "nutela" with hazelnut roasted and ground with melted dark chocolat and some coconut oil, it became perfect! Much better than the original and without tons of sugar and palm oil. And I love italian torrone! We eat here in Brazil as well, not so much now because I'm 51 years old. Congrats, guys, it looks so perfect and delicious!
Thanks you two for these fun Christmas cooking ideas. This one is a winner for sure and Harper, your musical intermissions were the cutest. Have a lovely Christmas-
Crema d'Alba! I ate it when I was a child, now I'm 63 .. it is the ancestor of Nutella! I didn't know the existence of "torrone dei morti". I am used to "pan dei morti" on November 2nd, which is a good cake with lots of spices.
@@niennaarcturus actually I am surprised it still exists ... Eva has a really vast knowledge of Italian products, maybe she can correct me if I say something wrong. As far as I remember it is a cream of hazelnuts produced in the very well known region called "Langhe" in Piemonte. This is a blessed area, producing lots of very good things : wines, white trifle, hazelnuts and many others. Maybe one day Eva and Harper will visit it and make a video for us! The town of Alba is its Capital. The factory that invented and still produces the famous "NUTella" (they chose this name to suggests it is done with nuts) before it was producing the crema d'Alba. The hazelnut cream was, in the destroyed and extremely poor Italy after the II World War, a substitute of the expensive chocolate. Actually I wasn't aware it is still "alive". I remember I ate it on a slice of bread when I was 5 or 6 years old (I'm 63 now). It was sold in small cubes wrapped in foils.
Just in case someone else hasn't mentioned this... You can buy a silicone candy mold from Amazon, all sorts of shapes and sizes. Silicone molds are reused and your end results just pop out and no more marks from the foil etc. Thank you for this recipe and ALL your recipes. Happy holidays 😁
08:59 Harper's serenade of Calabrisella Mia to Eva reminds me of my dad serenading my mom. I grew up hearing him sing, hum and whistle that tune over the years. Thanks.
Ciao Eva e Harper. Vi seguo dall'Argentina da tantissimo tempo. Oggi mi avete fatto venire la pelle proprio a spazzolino, eppur m'avit fatt' chiagnere c''a calabrisella!!! Saluti da un nipote di cosentini! Siete un mito! Non mollare mai!
Enjoyed the ukulele and loved the banjo. The dish looks delicious. But you can brush on more dark chocolate after removing it from the mold. This will not only cover the engravened word, but you can add a design. Like using a fork for lines or swirls. ✌️♥️🌹
I love you guys sooo much! I really enjoy your videos. Not only for the recipes, but also for the interaction and all the fun. Eva is a real genius. Is there even any Italian food she doesn't know how to cook? The Italian government should name her Ambassador or something!
Thank you so much Eva and Harper for the shoutout here at 0:50! I super love to bake and cook, and I super love watching your channel as well! It really makes me want to visit Italy in the future or US to meet you guys at some point! Thank you again!
Bellissimo video come sempre! Harper con i suoi intermezzi musicali è esilarante! Siete una bellissima coppia ragazzi! Continuate così! Buone feste!!!🎊🎉🎊🎉
I made this. Two observations. 1 do not open the Nutella until you are ready for it or you may not have enough. 2 I took a spoon and flattened out the bottom of the aluminum tray. Thank You and Merry Christmas.
I'm almost speechless and would in fact be totally speechless if I had a mouthful of that gorgeous Torrone Del Morti. I think Eva just cured me of my Reese's Peanut Butter Cup addiction. Eva's sounds wayyyyy better ! Merry Christmas and thanks for all you do !
I'm addicted to your channel!! In case no one else has said it, I'm in Phoenix, and our Amazon carries cream of pistachio. I looked for it a Fry's, no luck. I couldn't find Hazelnuts either so I'm using Macadamia nuts.
Not only do I enjoy watching your uTube videos, I appreciate learning the basics of Italian cooking - ingredients, techniques, history - and I actually have learned how to make some delicious authentic Italian recipes, I am also impressed how you are developing your business model with a variety of products: cookbook, tutorials, gastronomic cooking tours to parts of Italy no one could access without you. The model you have developed will be sustainable because it is based on sound pedagogy ( as the name Pasta Grammar implies) not just flashy, forgettable visuals. You are destined to join the small, elite pantheon of cooking teachers. Move over Julia and Lidia -- here come Harper and Eva. Thank you!
Hidden talents of Harper, revealed! Appropriate skills for your namesake- though, one must wonder if you can, in fact, play the harp as well. 🤔😄 The torrone looked absolutely delicious and made my mouth water. You are fortunate to be married to someone who knows how (and is willing) to make such wonderful foods, and you're both fortunate to eat such deliciousness! Ciao & buon Natale!
Thank you Harper for frailing the banjo! My husband and I loved hearing you play all those instruments! My husband and son have played in Bluegrass bands for years! I’m going to try making that hazelnut chocolate candy one of these days, it looked so good!
Pour and layer that into Easter egg (or even bunny/lamb) molds and you will have fancy Italian Easter Eggs that you can wrap in pretty colored Italian foils/ribbons.
I watch most of your videos since discovering your Channel, I would like to Thank Eva for how You patiently impart your knowledge and guidance (Teaching) and Sharing your unique Skills. Always a joy to watch. I also admire how you work so well together. Harper I liked your segment with the Guitars, you must have a collection. Thank you both. Have yourselves a Wonderful and Merry Christmas. I look forward to the future installments. Bless
it's a chocolate lover's paradise... and very Chrismasy, cause in chirstmas all the candies make giant version of them and this looks like a giant mars or snickers bar of a kind.
Eva's smile is the tell that it is going to be good. The torrone was the delicious feature but Harper's musical interludes were the star feature. Who knew he could play the banjo? Bravo Harper! And Bravo to the best teacher..Eva..Buon Natale!🎄🕊
Happy holidays, everyone! What recipe should we tackle next?
Panna cotta! Super easy, but it would be fun to see you guys make it!
MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎅🤶🎅🤶🎄🍾
I would be happy with toroni del morte variations ad infinitum. Looked so amazing.
Panettone

wow you guys did an amazing Torrone 😍 great job!
Thank you!!! ❤️
@counselthyself OMG that sounds like a great version!
Eva deserves an academy award for keeping it together during the cheesy musical interludes. The chocolate loaf does look good.

Hi, can you please share the measurements you used for your "nutella"? Approximate is ok. I'd like to try it. It sounds delicious! Thank you!
Ma che carini gli intermezzi musicali di Harper 😍
So who knew Harper was so versatile with ukulele, banjo and guitar?!!
More musical interludes are in order😎. Amazing culinary creations. Good stuff always!!

The look on her face was so sweet when he did that❤️
...and all of a sudden he whips out a banjo, a BANJO! Love it.

Aww, Harper...you were serenading Eva🥰
Loving Evas face when Harper is playing the banjo. Amazing
I’ve only ever had the packaged La Florentine brand Torrone - but homemade looks incredible! The Nutella puts it over the top 😋
Harper plays the banjo? And his banjo was the perfect addition to waiting for this ITALIAN dessert. I honestly never would have anticipated that!
I’m impressed by both of you. Harper’s musicality and Eva for her cooking and teaching brilliance. Buon Natale a tutti!❤️

Calabrisella Mia! My mother used to sing this all the time.
Prima gli struffoli, mo il torrone dei morti. Che meraviglia, da emigrato, mi sembra di essere a casa a Napoli. ❤️❤️❤️
