Many years ago I led a weekly radio broadcast called "Pink Moon" . This Song Is the one I love the best. Beautiful version... as all the other songs anyway.
I can't get enough. Drumming is so sure of itself and dependable but done with a light hand. I love when the bass moves briefly down to C before it settles firmly back into D. The synth colours the song in beautifully. Yep, I love this!
I quite like the krautrock drums but probably you're right and the overall style doesn't match the song well. It feels like a remix, not a cover. I'm on defense with the vocals too, Nick sings it so well that nothing seems to come close.
Upsets comes from unfulfilled expectationIs- let go of the expectation of a “Nick Drake song” & you will have no upsets. Personally, I have heard OF Nick Drake, but am not FAMILIAR with his music. It has come to my attention by several of creative musical artistic talents who I AM FAMILIAR WITH are covering his work, & I REALLY ENJOY WHAT THEY ARE COMING OUT WITH, so I have nothing but admiration. I am sorry for those who are frustrated that it is not the original, but then that’s WHY it is called a TRIBUTE! TRIBUTES HONOR the STORYTELLING CRAFT by RE:Integrating the story with NEW VERSIONS of the NARRATIVE through a dramatic retelling. Storytelling comes in SO MANY FORMS; for me I wish ARTISTIC EXPRESSION was less about a known MARKET-ability & more about the CREATIVE PROCESS- for example, wouldn’t it be GREAT if PAINTERS created new VERSIONS of Nick Drake songs…more INTWINED, CREATIVE WEBBING of STORYTELLING through “distinct” mediums could Re:INVIGORATE the AGE OLD HUMAN CONNECTION TO STORY & CRAFTSMANSHIP (releasing the binding ties of commercialization, Market-evaluations, & superficial socialized subjugation of “this is not that”, therefore “unknown” & so un”LIKE”able; RATHER we might CONNECT THROUGH IMAGINATIVE INDIVIDUAL SELF EXPRESSION of the HUMAN EXPERIENCE through valuing the fact of re:IMAGINED creative expansion! I look for-warding communal expression in this ANALOG ways & means, because the DIGITAL either/or “0/1” is such a BINARY judgement system of accept-ability perpetuated by an audience of MARKET-able critics. A community of encouragement & critical ANALYSIS, which does not superficially disregard the NARRATIVE because it was not told through YOUR “known” STORY, but ALLOWS ACCESS into the DEPTHS of HUMAN EXPRESSION connected through SPIRITUAL ingestion …not consumptive disregard to what is newly being SHARED. 🪭 of 🗝️🚪that open🪄🪆 or 🪅 as 🪞🎁 to 🎉❣️ ☸️⚛️🆔☸️☯️💟☮️🕉️🍄✡️
This is pretty good. There's still that cosplaying/karaoke vibe that Aldous hides behind. But this is decent stuff and a return to form for Aldous after a few years in the wilderness.
I'm also disappointed at Aldous' recent work, but her highly theatrical approach is defninitely not the problem for me. 'Horizon', for instance, is a masterpiece in my view. It's more that I miss the feeling in her vocals and the minimalism in the instrumentation as of late. I still love her first album most, which surely wasn't devoid of a peculiar persona, with that bizarre archaic accent all the time. Wonferful art never the less. A true artist needs an edge somehow.
WE NEED A 40MIN VERSION OF THIS...NOW
Precisely! :)
So many to thank for this version, John, Aldous and all others in the production team. I really like it. All that on an old Nick Drake song!
This is a rather cool interpretation of one of my favorite Nick Drake tracks. Never thought a krautrock arrangement would suit his work so well.
Nick Drake...❤
Such a beautiful version!
i just listened to this 200 times in a row
When I read the names John Parish & Aldous Harding together I had to stop and watch. And it was well worth it.

Great version! B
Love this !
The vocals are great. Nick always went with mood, and silence in between the spaces.
That drum track kills the vibe for me.

What’s with THE random WORDS in CAPITALS ?
Motoric beat like Krout rock Neu, interesting though
Nice..🤘
Does Aldous know PJ?

"So we cover Three Hours by Nick Drake, but it's just Spiders by Wilco. Annnnnd go!"
Wilco meets Neu!
Martin Hannett gets his hands on Nick Drake.
I fell asleep
…..
Pink Floyd vibes
Kosmiche
leave Drake alone
Cool vocal harmonies here but the rest, ... metronomic drumming, retro synth bubbles, just so annoying. Ruins the original vibe.
Rip off of Wilco''s Kidsmoke. Now listen to that.
Not to my liking
