Thank you to all the artists that treated these songs with such love and respect, they all truly embraced the meaning of adopting them and giving them another life with a new and hopefully very appreciative audience.
Jaw droppingly, achingly beautiful. Tugs on the heart. The only thing on the covers album that adds new dimensions to Nick’s work with such sensitivity, intuition and insight.
This is my absolute favorite track on the record, and that says a lot, because there are so many great covers. This is my favorite Nick Drake cover ever.
John this is from a Nick demo? Surprised I've never come across it. And yes to another poster, definite Sandy Denny vibe there, but done with the right attitude. Congrats Katherine! In tune with Nick's spirit.
Damn this popped up in my background playlist... i thought it was some kind of sandy denny song i had never heard, i was pleasantly surprised it was katherine covering nick drake, Awesome job, its a shame this generation will be left behind and this crop of talent isn't getting the recognition it deserves
Having heard all of the (excellent) cover versions so far - this is by some way my favourite. Both the arrangement of the song and the visuals sum up for me the essence of what Nick Drake's music is all about. Superb!
Tramp moves on to the end of the street I listen to the echo of his hobnail feet For some there's a future to find But I think they're leaving me behind
The world hurries on at its breakneck pace People fly by in their lifelong race For them there's a future to find And I think they're leaving me behind
The chances, they come but the chances have been lost Succеss can be gained, but at too great a cost For somе there's a future to find But I think they're leaving me behind The wind sweeps up and goes back to its tree The rain flows by and moves on to the sea For them there's a future to find But I think they're leaving me behind
@@gijsmertens6858 OOOOHH oooh oooh ! Nick Drake could ache songs into being that sounded like LOVE and Bruises. You don't need to argue (at this point ) who ached it first.
I love this video. To be honest, it took me a couple of plays to warm to this version despite being both a massive Katherine Priddy and Nick Drake fan. It kinda felt like the song got lost in the arrangement. But after repeated listens, it's all fallen into place and I love it. The whole thing washes over you leaving you with a sublime smile. Still, if you've listened to her on the recent Folk on Foot podcast, she does a solo acoustic version that I like even more. It's more intimate, as you would expect. Anyway, it's all good!!! 💜
Great cover- wish others on the cover album had gone with songs from this little known Nick drake record, rather than the 3 albums, fruit tree, bryter layter and pink moon. From the cover records (called endless colours the songs of Nick drake) this song is among the best. The album is worth getting though I find only about half of the covers to be worthwhile.
The orchestration is amazing: she uses an unusual chord progression. F Ab Eb F x2 Ab Eb F F and Eb Bb F F. The Nick Drake version has a similar melody but his chords are more complex using extensions. Her interpretation is all the better for being different.
I've not heard one Nick Drake cover version i've liked. it's just to hard too get the ambiance of his music to do it justice . Until i heard heard this song yesterday .Not only that this is better than Nick's version I've just listened to some of her other songs Indigo and a couple of others and this lady as the same resonance as Nick She's the female Version of Nick Drake It's a pity they weren't playing at the same time They could have made some interesting music Well done Young lady

Musically, it has hardly anything to do with the original. But the original (a demo) wasn't very remarkable musically either - BUT at least Nick Drake's harmonic style was recognizable ...

I can take or leave most of the covers on this album, but this one is stellar.
I so concur
This is like hearing Sandy Denny doing Nick Drake.
More Nick Drake than Nick Drake. No greater compliment.

Same. This vibes.
My favourite of the covers/interpretations so far. Her voice is so ethereal.
Dear Nick Katherine has done your demo proud an absolute keeper haven't stopped listening since this video was released!!

How good is that! Fantastic.
Katherine is as wonderful as usual

This is my introduction to Katherine, so moving, her voice tugs tight at the heartstrings.
Sublime.
Just stunning.

Waiting for this precious record
What a magnificent hand-shake and warm hug to late Nick Drake. Beautiful and splendid.
Gorgeous!
Stunning and mesmerising.
Oh, what a pleasure to listen to, a beautiful arrangement and video.
pleasure? they must stop violate nick drakes music.....let him just rest in peace...and only listen to his original music please
@@gijsmertens6858 I'm glad that you care about the deeply true and melancholy music of Nick Drake
This is beautiful 😑
Increasingly obsessed by this.
Wonderful.
Wow!!!! Just… wow…❤
perfect🍄
Truly magnificent and moving.
really? please don't violate his original music
Really. This is not a violation, far from it - it’s an appreciation and fulfilment of his original demo - there is certainly room for both versions.

Beautiful song , I'm working it up along with Northern Sky.
Another wonderful rendition

So difficult to cover Nick but this is terrific - surely a Bond-theme-in-waiting?!
Lets hope not.
