Multiple thoughts 1) social media is not the only culprit in the current environment of hostility... Jon Stewart said something a long time that caught my attention and that I totally agree with. The start of the 24 hour news channels/cycles started this mess. They need to keep us paying attention and what feeds that better than playing into fears, anger, opinions, whatever. Looking for the drama in everything to keep it 24 hour newsworthy... 2) electric cars- I just bought a new vehicle, I would be completely willing to buy electric if the vehicle that was practical to me was available and affordable. I bought a Santa Cruz because it's crossover functionality is perfect for my life. When that becomes available I'm all for going green. But like Neil said, it's about my own personal needs. I've talked about something similar with friends when discussing healthcare. I'm now saying hey let's consider govt funded healthcare because I am looking at how it affects my wallet. I have done the math repeatedly and on years when we aren't sick and don't have major incidents, I spend MORE total to have health insurance when you figure the cost of copays, deductibles, and the actual health insurance than if I had just paid for the visits out of pocket all year long. I don't care who also gets helped in the changeover to govt funded healthcare as long as I can go to any Drs when I need to and not see another bill for anything ever again, so hey, let's do some practice runs in some cities and see how it works out. So, if people start looking into, how could this actually be better or worse for me directly, there are some things they might really change their minds about. And that's how the electric vehicles are going to go... Once it becomes practical and affordable and beneficial for themselves, people will be on board

So thrilled that Neil deGrasse Tyson mentioned the Scientific Method…I get so frustrated with people that just believe something without any pushback or proof that it has been actually proven or even unproven. I use this method in my everyday life as a Scientist. If I ask what the hypothesis is and is there proof to support it or disprove it, they are lost. That is the whole premise of the Scientific Method!!

ChatGPT states: The opposite of a demagogue-a leader who appeals to people's emotions, prejudices, or fears to gain support, often at the expense of reason and truth-would be a leader who appeals to reason, ethics, and genuine public interest. Some possible terms include:
Statesperson or Statesman/Stateswoman: A leader known for wisdom, integrity, and dedication to the common good.
Visionary Leader: Someone who inspires people through thoughtful ideas, a long-term vision, and reasoned persuasion.
Educator-Leader: A leader who seeks to enlighten, educate, and elevate public discourse rather than manipulate emotions.
Humanitarian Leader: Someone who prioritizes compassion, inclusivity, and moral principles in their leadership.
These terms emphasize qualities such as rationality, ethics, and a focus on the collective welfare rather than exploiting divisiveness.

      @pnut3844able หลายเดือนก่อน

WRONG. They're far from perfect. I've been a mechanic for over 20 years, and every year they get worse and worse. All these electronics for EVERYTHING now, and everything is integrated so that if one thing messes up, it's a whole ordeal. Cars used to be made of steel and cast iron, now it's plastic and aluminum. The companies weren't making any money off of parts bc they made vehicles too well. That's why they switched it up. Also, at least half of the stuff that's electronic doesn't need to be. For example, they took a 20 dollar throttle cable and now it's fly by wire, like a plane. If it goes out, your power drops to almost zero and you go nowhere. All bc they decided to get rid of a 20 dollar part that hardly ever broke, and if it did was easy and cheap to replace. Now that fly by wire setup is 500 dollars or more smh. Crazy part is, IT DOES THE EXACT SAME THING

13:35 - Oh! About this I have a lot to say, 1/3 of men make a living driving, and to reflect on a snippet, people like me who cannot find work for all the 'no' reasons (too old even if I still have 10 years of much productive life, overqualified so you can't get entry jobs or underqualified if you want a more junior job but requires specific expertise, you name it), what do they do? They drive!! I see offers for all kinds of driving jobs which do not require owning a car, such as bus driver, shuttle driver, school driver (I don't include trucks but yea!) and I was about to sign up for one when I got into a program to increase my skills and likelihood to be employed again. This is really madness. Self-driving vehicles will be the main reason for poverty in my age bracket in the next 10 years. And I also know the whole thing about savings but that's also a topic dor another time.

I guess if we really wanted to have less Driving Related Deaths, we could:
    1) Make Cars not be physically able to go above speed limit.
    2) Have Phone OS Developers develop a feature where it is simply not possible to use the phone while driving.
    3) Make the penalty for using the Phone while driving = Jail Time.
With those three, you could probably cut car accidents by half.

Cars are NOT made better than ever lmao. They're made so much worse than ever. I've been a mechanic for over 20 years, and trust me they're far worse than ever.

How they forget Gen-X! Boomers weren't the last gen pre cell phone. Tyson and Cuomo are boomer gen. As far as I can recall, Cell phones didn't exist in 1980 which is the last year of Gen-X.
Guys, stop kidding yourselves, you're old. IT'S OKAY!

Demagogue has only synonyms and no antonyms in either of my thesaurus. The list of those synonyms include: political agitator, rabble-rouser, haranguer, political opportunist, ranter, hot-head, incendiary, malcontent, firebrand, inflamer, troublemaker. Thus, a list of antonyms could consist of words such as: conciliator, calmer, informed educator, cool head, quiet counseller, water carrier, a contented optimist, mediator, peacemaker, pacifier, solution finder.
I suppose taking all those words and making one antonymic word or phrase of demagogue the best choice would be either an orator of enlightenment, a philosophical politician which could be represented as a Marcus Aurelius philosopher king; or a Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, James Madison the thoughtful founding fathers.
Taking things closer to our time, leading politicians who take the time to consider what is best for their nation and it's people as did Harry Truman and Gerald Ford. Or maybe we could just write that the best antonym for a demagogue is found in the example set by three term Governor of New York, Mario Cuomo.

I agree ,but most people don't read or try to find out the what where why and how.Any more!!There's no fundamentals. They miss everything. Because of the thinking. Remember there's 2 sides to a coin.So to speak you need to listen and pay attention .
