Loved your character in the series. I was 16 when this came out and watched it on telly with my old man. Iam now 52 and he is 95 and a proper south Londoner...and we still talk about the show! Shame it didnt run longer...it should have done. Thanks Peter
we have cable TV now, BBC iplayer, Netflix and a myriad of streaming services, terrestrial TV just can't compete, we're in a different age now, I guess it's soaps and reality TV that pay the wages these days
I remember this as a kid growing up in moss side Manchester an as a prospect kid in them these it was hard an only thing u had to to was be yourself an hustle
Thank you for uploading this. I was only aged about twelve when this was on TV. Loved watching the series with my mum. We all used to copy the handshake with each other at school.
indeed channel 4 was fresh and new back then all tv was pretty bad. quality wise compared to now..like the professionals and minder..cameras was crap and no special effects.
electricleg my little bro us3d to pee on the vcr and stick everything in the slot. Although if ever i need a few quid i knew where to look. Was a great series back in the day i did create a playlist for this series. So should help ya.
i heard there was a dispute between the writers / producers / network. so another series was not commisioned, even though all the actors were interested in making more. any truth in this?
Thats untrue. Channel 4 let it go they wasnt interested in another series and gave it to ITV to run with but it was rerun by ITV but showed little interest so it was shelved.
I miss the 1980's
1986?
This should have had run for years it was so good
Good as it didn't
Rocllifliffes babies
I think Thames Downed it so as not lose the popularity of Minder.
This was the logical succesor!
loved this as a kid
Gary Olsen was perfect for this role, brilliant casting for both
When we were skint but happy.
Old SkoooooL ! 👍🏼
And we loved filming it too...happy memories of the Island before redevelopment.

A proper Gem from the 80s RIP Gary Olson a very talented actor that looked so natural in this show
Well said mt
Looked a top geezer Gary Olsen was a pleasure to watch this programme .Brian Bovell was good in it also
Watched it when it was first shown on TV, Wednesday night I think it was on. Looked fwd to it all week
I remember watching with my mum every Wednesday night at eight - the last word in quality tv back then.
Back when TV was worth watching, unlike now with crappy soaps, endless reality shit and (no)talent shows like Britain’s Got (No)Talent.

That last scene the music just went so well, for what was happening to the businessman who cheated Pincy, that would have made a great theme tune.
Thanks for uploading this,i been looking for it online for years. 🤗
Loved this back in the 80's
Yeah how times have changed since then.. not for the better imo.
@@roxdude 1986
Billy always looked so cool man.
Cross between Minder and Only Fools and Horses.
Minder perhaps as it was the same production company but nothing like OFAH.
There are quite alot of similarities to OFAH, the market trader, trying to chat up the two ladies in the pub to name a couple.
Euston Films.
Thanks for this mate 👍🏻👍🏻
Watching this, I can see where Guy Ritchie lifted his characterisation, scripts and humour.
Thank you for posting this.
A London well lost
Thanks for uploading 👍🏻
One of the best!!
i loved this back when i was 16, now the plots seem so silly, it was like a poor mans Minder, but there was fuck all else on with only 4 channels.
indeed channel 4 was fresh and new back then all tv was pretty bad. quality wise compared to now..like the professionals and minder..cameras was crap and no special effects.
@@roxdude And yet...I prefer to re-watch these old series over the complete and utter Shite we get nowadays.
Excellent.
God bless gary rip
Loved this back in the day
rosser man yeah back in tbe day was definitely fresh. shame it got pulled by itv.
I wanted to be them as a kid!
Sad to say..
the Number plate from that Hearse is worth WELL over £12,000¡!!!
You should have told them that!!! 🤣
14:32 - The Queen of the Isle pub, Poplar?
Class I wonder if this could be re made if so who would you pick to play the part ?
In 2021, doubt it. Not allowed to represent real life anymore, alas..
it was of its time 85/86 you cant go back in time before the redevelopment?
I'm guessing the developers have changed this whole area?
? The Docklands ?
@@CARLIN4737 I don't live in England that's why I'm guessing.

good i`ll be watching more ,did`nt really watch back in the day ,the call of the pub was to strong and i did`nt have a VCR. ( now an antique)

Thanks a lot ,recently enjoyed watching the excellent Big Deal from roughly the same era .
What do you mean by 'stacking videos'? (Love British dramas btw)
It's an american term for the procurement of precious metals. So those video are mainly about bullion, shiny metals, many of which are coins.
@@roxdude thanks for the info :)
i heard there was a dispute between the writers / producers / network. so another series was not commisioned, even though all the actors were interested in making more. any truth in this?
bob rew i think itv bought it from ch4 and killed it. so a 2nd series was never made. was a great series back in the day such a shame.
What a missed opportunity. Could of been a long running series like Minder or Only Fools and Horses.
Euston Films also produced Minder there may have been a conflict of interest and only Minder wes recommissioned.
Thats untrue. Channel 4 let it go they wasnt interested in another series and gave it to ITV to run with but it was rerun by ITV but showed little interest so it was shelved.
@@roxdude yep apparently ITV did rerun it as repeats but little interest was shown so it was benched.
In case you didn't know - On the grunmbling city streets, they are working for tomorrow.
It's crumbling city streets

This was sych a good show, well acted, well written and i remember the audience figure was good.......but it wasnt to be .
