Hi Dave! Thank YOU for the kind words and for watching my friend! Happy to send any of my spreadsheets to you if you'd like, just email me at "the3gunguy@gmail.com".
Whew!! The cost is crazy. I can buy a lot of Hornady Eld match grade 147 grain ammo for what the equipment costs. My MPA PMR PRO 2 loves it. I always hear people saying they save money by reloading their own ammo. The recovery time to start saving $ after the initial investment would take forever even if you shoot alot. Is there a huge accuracy difference between factory match ammo vs reloading at home for people competing? Other than that and to stockpile I'm struggling with justifying the investment into the equipment.
Hi Brent! If you're just competing to have fun and for great comradery, then I totally agree with your thinking around reloading. If you are really wanting to compete, then reloading your own ammo, with the time and cost considerations really does make sense. I did a video a while back comparing my 6.5 Creedmoor reloads to many off the shelf options and the results were pretty interesting (th-cam.com/video/RIhtoJDP1F0/w-d-xo.html) . Again, just plinking and/or casual competition, you can shoot factory all day long and still end up with good scores. Thanks for watching my friend!
@@The4GunGuy Thanks for the quick reply and the video link. That's exactly what I need to research to see if the ROI is worth it for me. Great content btw!
The Giraud case trimmer is amazing. Yes, it's expensive but worth every penny if you reload a lot of 223 or other necked cases in bulk. Great content! Sub'd!
Happy you sorted things out with the SAC die. I ran mine with the mandrels from day 1 - like you had some issues with the quality but they sorted it all out for me. Switched from the Giraud to the Henderson - just a little faster for my workflow. May I suggest the AMP-Mate - makes life so much easier to throw 100 cases in and just let it run. Try the SuperTrickler yet? - Really slick - great if you like tinkering with settings (which I do). It does make me appreciate the simplicity of the AutoTrickler. Great videos - this and your 2022 review. Love it.
Hi S F! Great feedback my friend! My buddy had the AMP Mate but said he gave up using it as it didn't like the smaller cases (GT, Dasher, BRA) so I didn't go there. Glad yours is working out for you though. I had ordered the SuperTrickler, but cancelled it when I saw some issues popping up...Again, glad yours is working...Probably give it a year or so and then jump in on it. Thanks as usual for watching the vids and providing great feedback!
I shoot 6 and 6.5x47 so it took the same settings as my creedmoor. Good to know about those other cartridges. On the supertrickler - absolutely wait - especially since you already have an auto trickler. Good stuff.
I’ve been reloading for about 8 months. My setup is in the mid grade level. Still don’t have a concentricity gauge and not sure it’s necessary for beginners. I’d probably be better off with some more practice before diving in some of the more advanced techniques. Of course, when it comes to reloading there are many opinions. Great video!
Another great video!! I have reloaded for handguns for a couple of decades now and am changing to all long guns now. I am taking the opportunity to upgrade some of my older equipment to some newer stuff geared more towards more precision reloading. My wife got a kick out of watching this video as she noticed that I had “acquired” much of the same gear that you have on your if I were starting now list. Now, if I can keep her from seeing the receipts!
@@bhiggy12 Yeah, it's best to be honest with the spouse for sure! I'm so lucky (as it sounds like you are) in having a wife who supports my habit...I mean hobby! I always tell her of the big purchases and how they'll help me and she seems to understand. Thanks for watching my friend!
This is a really good topic because I am there now..the best stuff is I'd say $1300 +- $200. Per and there are 5 maybe 6 must haves if this is your thing....
Hi Kenneth! Yeah, I think you could get in with a $1500 budget if you really whittle down some things. The press is a big one for me because I didn't want to have 4 presses laying around, so I just went right to the one I knew I'd be using forever. And I would definitely use good dies or it's all for nothing. Thanks for watching my friend!
This is a really good topic because I am there now..the best stuff is I'd say $1300 +- $200. Per and there are 5 maybe 6 must haves if this is your thing....do you have a rifle that you would recommend for prs production
Feel like im looking in the mirror, my equipment started off very similar to yours and has ended up about the same. Only thing i need now is the giraud and ill have pretty much top tier equipment in each category. I will say I really like the SAC headspace comparator. Used the hornady for a bit but the SAC for just a little more was definitely worth the change especially for the alpha dasher.
Hi Marksman_92! I think most folks have taken "our" journey for one reason or another. The Giraud is well worth the price and I agree on the SAC comparators...I tried using them, but the headspace for 6mm BRA just didn't seem right to me so I went back to the Sinclair. Good luck on your continued journey and thanks for watching my friend!
Is there a way I can download that spreadsheet? I want to get into reloading and I’m looking at the Area419 press and also SAC The seating die and all SAC dies, do you really think they worth it? I rather cry once and I prefer to have the best of the bes. Thank you
Hi GA! IF, you're going to eventually shoot something like F-Class, then I'd say go with the 419 press and SAC dies, if you're focusing on PRS, then I WOULD NOT spend the money and go with the Forster Co-AX, the Whidden sizing die, and the LE Wilson bullet seater with the press. NOW, if you're going to hunt as well and need to load various cartridges quickly, then you may want to look at a turret press, which will make things move faster, but not sure if the accuracy would be there...MANY people will disagree with that last statement, and I have NO proof of it. Hope this helps and thanks for watching my friend!

Hey Force! Nice setup on both options. I would do more research on the zero press...I've had great reloaders with less than favorable things to say about it. BUT, if you're set on it then go for it and let us know! Thanks for watching as usual my friend!
@@The4GunGuy oh really?? Well darn! I have read a lot of good things on accurate shooter but i haven't done a TON of research. Honestly the area 419 die is partially because the guys at alpha rave about it since it's release. I know forster is releasing the coax-XL so you can use the larger dies so that will probably take a lot of stock away from Area 419 on the press market! Always love your stuff brother!
You lost me on Widden being entry level cheap!! Lee is entry level and cheap!I have seen match ammo made with Lee! You should delete this video and start over with ACTUAL entry level equipment and leave out the crap like tempilaq and steel wool. Give me a break….. and runout really is NOT a factor in accuracy yet neck tension is…. I have found it to be a moot point. I suppose a Barrett is an entry level rifle …. 😏
Hi Ragnarr! I believe I pointed out that there were lower cost options regarding the sizing die, but, my point was that even with the "entry level" equipment, I recommended the using certain equipment such as the Whidden and skipping those lower level dies. I did give an example of a buddy using a lower level die. Runout above a certain threshold can and will affect accuracy and glad it hasn't affected your accuracy. Thanks for watching!
Great breakdown. As a spreadsheet guy, i really appreciated this.
Thanks Bryan and thanks for watching my friend!
