Old video so nobody will see this but...Lenovo Thinkpad X230. Personally I have an x230t which has full touchscreen and an ips panel, the regular x230 can be had under the $200 budget easily.

@@drnsells3036 If you need a decent machine for longer periods of work e.g. database or CRM it's a good laptop. @@drnsells3036 Hey! I have the AMD model and I want to say that the Intel+AMD combo is excellent. Skeleton 11223 You're well aware that Chrome OS is going to have OFFICIAL support from Google right? And there are normal laptops a size of a Chromebook that can't have their parts replaced.
The majority of people suggested a used laptop, because the majority of people who watch this challenge are smart enough to realize that chrome os is horrible.
I have a chromebook with a mediatek processor. It's a Lenovo c330 and it's much faster at browsing the web than all my friends laptops. I guess the Celeron n processors must be garbage.
You realize that Chromebooks are meant for schools, where you don’t need a good processor to get things done, because it’s for schoolwork, not gaming or video editing.
if you think that laptop is heavy, you should look into the Dell XPS laptops from around 2009. my dad has one and it has two full size GTX 285's in it, so imagine the hulking size of that bastard

if you want to do video editing check that it has at least hd4000 series graphics, most of those programs require the extra features included with that graphics bump (from experience, I rock a Elitebook 2760p) Photoshop works fine in HD3000 series though.
Great video as always Austin. However you forgot to mention that the Elitebook is extremely upgradeable! Take off that underside and you can access everything. You can even replace the cpu with a 4 cores 8 threads i7. That makes the machine a real beast!
Nice to see used as an alternative shown off, and especially nice to see the Elitebook. I got one with a second gen i7 and dedicated graphics for just over $100, and upgraded the cpu (yes, a laptop with a socketed cpu). Imo, as long as you don't care too much about having something thin and light, it's a much better option for price/performance.
Old laptop FOR SURE I got a free dell from my school, and poped an ssd in, and it works flawlessly. Sure, it only gets an hour of battery life, but when it comes down to that, or a really sad new laptop, I'll go with more ports, bigger screen, full and good felling keyboard, and a solid CPU any day of the week
In 200$,the best one you got is the older one.why? Because (from a PC guy perspective) the old guys are good whenever you are attempting to use'em.Dozens of ports,a frickin' sata input(if you get the DVD drive out) and being so cool with the old school style.
I would recommend getting a old laptop that was expensive when it was new I have a Lenovo x1 carbon 4th gen from 2016 with 8 gigs of ram a nvme ssd and a 6th gen i7 works very well got it refurbished for like 350 bucks like what Austin did with the streambook
That Hp elitebook hands down, i dont like celerons at all as those are too slow so yeah the elitebook hands down, much more expandablity and 100x faster :)
The best $200 laptop is a used Lenovo T or X series. Now in 2022 a T450 - T460 would be about right. I recently got a very lightly used T450 with 8GB RAM, a great battery and a stock power adapter for $115 then up graded to a 256GB SSD - so for a total of $160 I got a top-of-the-line 14" laptop with the best build and keyboard in teh industry that will tear any new $300 POS to shreds.
I got an open box Chromebook for me and ended up getting one for my wife too. Fast. Great battery. Bad for games but I have a Switch and PC if i really want to game.
Yes! My comment was read to go with an Elitebook for $200! My entire day is made and my Elitebook for $200 which only weighs 3.8 pounds, 12.1 inch screen has an i7 8gb ram and 6 hours of battery life and a touch screen! There is just no contest for the price.
One big advantage for the Elitebook is the docking station feature, I use it with my E5420 on a day to day basis and it is absolutely fine! I did upgrade mine with a 240GB SSD, still holds up pretty nicely! 3583 in CPU Mark, around an i3 6100U or Pentium G4400
TH-cam actually is quite demanding compared to what it used to be. I mean, you could watch it on a Windows 98 Celeron machine back when it was flash based.
The 8470p is much better when you get the one with the 900p screen resolution, it comes with Radeon graphics, I was able to play GTA at 720p with about 40-60fps
I got a ProBook 6570b for free from my school's ewaste dumpster. Slapped a SSD in it, doubled the RAM from 4 to 8 GB and its a decent laptop. Only issue is the TrackPoint will stick if you push it too far in the upper left direction. When it does stick, all I gotta do is put pressure on it to the lower right direction.
My old school offered computers to the students at a “low” cost but when I looked at the online listings for the same computer they were 160 USD but they charged us the “low” price of 280 USD plus 100 USD cases that cost them 30 USD on amazon.
Exactly. So many ppl hating on the Chromebook but I picked up a cheap one just to easily take back and forth with me to class. It fulfills it's role excellently
As a college student who personally loves Chrome OS, if you have a science or engineering major, prepare to get a second computer or don't bother with a Chromebook. They're *fantastic* for lightweight tasks, but unless you *really* wanna start digging around under the hood, just get a used old computer and throw a lightweight linux distro on to get a little bit more performance out of it.
austin, i like your channel since unlike other tech channel you review low end laptops. keep posting and maybe try to play old games on them like rise of nation, age of empire, or others. and try linux (maybe) on them. thanks.
I had the same elitebook, but with radeon gpu, and it can run almost anything from this era really well, like bioshock infinite, csgo, gta v or whatever
Got the EliteBook 2570p. It's the 12.5" version of what he presented here. Paid around $230 for it with a Windows 10 license (I run linux mostly, but I need Windows for office stuff and I was getting 3 years warranty if I got a Windows license). Threw in a SSD and another 8 GB of RAM so it has 12 in total. Also replaced the optical drive with a drive caddy. It weighs only about 1.6 kg and the only real disadvantage is the battery life. Otherwise, it's really serviceable - this series actually has a socketed CPU, and the back cover just opens right away. All service information can be found on the HP website - along with videos showing how to do it, I was kinda surprised. Had it for 6 months now and to be honest, I kinda love it.
I buy Lenovo T430 for 15k inr. And this laptop is completely awesome. Not refurbish but still love this laptop and i just upgrade hdd to ssd (obviously)
I recently bought the samsung chromebook 3 and it works rather well for my needs. I'm not a heavy user and I understand the limts of chromeOS. After having the chromebook about a week I'm pretty happy I switched to chromeOS after windows killed my old laptop with the latest update. Being on a fixed budget due to disablity this little guy works. No viruses and that's pretty nice. Good video Austin as always.
I have a Chromebook 15 and a refurbished Elitebook with Windows 10 (8GB ram with a 100GB SSD). I use both equally. I prefer my Chromebook for serious movie watching like Netflix because it has a full 1080p screen which is gorgeous. I use my Elitebook for basic web browsing and TH-cam. I also got a cheap external DVD drive with it, which works well too (I can't do that with my Chromebook). Mostly I use my Elitebook for when I need to use physical media/burn CDs or DVDs. I got both for about $200-250 each. I will say that my Chromebook does have better Wi-FI and monitor tech and battery life, while the Elitebook has better sound tech (HD audio, which sounds much better with headphones) and access to different browsers other than Chrome, and other installed software like Itunes. My Elitebook also has that cool retro Windows 7 sticker on it, so there's that too! My verdict is to get both!
I bought a ~$350 (¥39,420) ASUS C101pa Chromebook. It has a Rockchip RK3399 ARM hexacore CPU (ARM). It has Android app functionality and it's very responsive. One thing I did with it was install Crouton, which lets you install Ubuntu Xfce and use a functioning desktop. It's totally worth it in my opinion!

hi can this play fornite and genshin impact? my asus no good at playing game :( 25fps!~
That Hp elitebook hands down, i dont like celerons at all as those are too slow so yeah the elitebook hands down, much more expandablity and 100x faster :)
that laptop i use for esports games it runs them all on 720p low 60 fps +
please reply, is the battery good?
so u can use it for gaming because im planning to buy one

Fuck celeron
Austin-making a video about cheap laptops
Me-watching on hp elitebook
Think about it, have you ever seen Austin and Michael in the same room before?
The best $200 laptop is a used Lenovo T or X series. Now in 2022 a T450 - T460 would be about right. I recently got a very lightly used T450 with 8GB RAM, a great battery and a stock power adapter for $115 then up graded to a 256GB SSD - so for a total of $160 I got a top-of-the-line 14" laptop with the best build and keyboard in teh industry that will tear any new $300 POS to shreds.
Bro make another one of these videos for the current time
I got an open box Chromebook for me and ended up getting one for my wife too. Fast. Great battery. Bad for games but I have a Switch and PC if i really want to game.
Do video about old thinkpad pls.
He's bought an older hp elite used by the military. There is a card reader on the display port side
I’m early so let me make a poem:
*Clears throat*
Roses are red
Violets are Blue

AusDaes 😂
AusDaes better than Patrick....
Yes! My comment was read to go with an Elitebook for $200! My entire day is made and my Elitebook for $200 which only weighs 3.8 pounds, 12.1 inch screen has an i7 8gb ram and 6 hours of battery life and a touch screen! There is just no contest for the price.
Which model? I'm curious, as I went with a Elitebook 2670p second hand when I bought mine
Freeman's Freedom I have an Elitebook 2760p
I am blown away
The Elitebook also has a SmartCard reader, a fingerprint sensor, and a SIM card reader. I'm not kidding.
When You updated to W10, the fingerprint sensor still worked? That wasn't My case
me watching this on an hp stream: 👁👄👁
One big advantage for the Elitebook is the docking station feature, I use it with my E5420 on a day to day basis and it is absolutely fine! I did upgrade mine with a 240GB SSD, still holds up pretty nicely! 3583 in CPU Mark, around an i3 6100U or Pentium G4400
The camera angles are so lit!
But can it run....
TH-cam I know really demanding
Yes
TH-cam actually is quite demanding compared to what it used to be. I mean, you could watch it on a Windows 98 Celeron machine back when it was flash based.
It actually is
My school has a ton of those refurbished ones except without the nipple! And yes even those are refurbished
I literally have that exact hp elitebook but mine only runs windows 7
The 8470p is much better when you get the one with the 900p screen resolution, it comes with Radeon graphics, I was able to play GTA at 720p with about 40-60fps
I've got a probook 6470b for 130dolars
with an i7, docking station, 8gb ram and a new battery
I got a ProBook 6570b for free from my school's ewaste dumpster. Slapped a SSD in it, doubled the RAM from 4 to 8 GB and its a decent laptop. Only issue is the TrackPoint will stick if you push it too far in the upper left direction. When it does stick, all I gotta do is put pressure on it to the lower right direction.
I have that same elitebook but 1600x900 resolution, core i7 I absolutely love it! Cost was 225 CAD$ way better then a chromebook
2017 Acer Chromebook 15 review would be nice!
My old school offered computers to the students at a “low” cost but when I looked at the online listings for the same computer they were 160 USD but they charged us the “low” price of 280 USD plus 100 USD cases that cost them 30 USD on amazon.
damn
Wonderful review Austin.
The chromebook is really useful for schoolwork I recommend them to any college students that just want something for school or easy task.
Unknown Error879 why you fucking your computer bud.
boy my laptop is an 9 years old lenovo and it has not crash down even once through out those 9 years
ps only 2gb of ram and 200gb hard disc but it works fine
that samsung chromebook looks like a atom netbook
I’m early... let me think of a joke..
Why do ducks have feathers?
*To cover their buttquack*
😂
😐
😂
Wait a second, my school uses those Elite Books 😂
austin, i like your channel since unlike other tech channel you review low end laptops. keep posting and maybe try to play old games on them like rise of nation, age of empire, or others. and try linux (maybe) on them. thanks.
BUT WILL IT RUN CRISIS?
Aditya Aurora I AM A GTX 1080
This laptop in video will on low fps
I had the same elitebook, but with radeon gpu, and it can run almost anything from this era really well, like bioshock infinite, csgo, gta v or whatever
No
I play rivals gta 5 cs go far cry 4 in this elite book
Cool🤘🏼 for budget
Where can I get that hoodie?
Filipe Borges did you try the Nintendo store in New York????
Switch Dog do they have a website?
I buy Lenovo T430 for 15k inr. And this laptop is completely awesome. Not refurbish but still love this laptop and i just upgrade hdd to ssd (obviously)
Harsh P where'd you get it from send me the link for it
What about the SC slot on the EliteBook? You didn't mention it,
I’m looking for a laptop that I can play sims 4 but get iTunes and Netflix Hulu what would be best?
Donalds
I just broke my laptop so I don’t have any other option rn
I recently bought the samsung chromebook 3 and it works rather well for my needs. I'm not a heavy user and I understand the limts of chromeOS. After having the chromebook about a week I'm pretty happy I switched to chromeOS after windows killed my old laptop with the latest update. Being on a fixed budget due to disablity this little guy works. No viruses and that's pretty nice. Good video Austin as always.
Thanks for promoting the elite book.
Does anyone want to buy mine.
THE FLASH Berry, is it a question, or a statement?
No
Yes
I'll give you a dollar.
Me
but can it run google docs at 30 fps per century?
that's 40 fpc
Anonymous fpc
Read it again
But

The light on the top is something we need for every laptop.😂
2:40 my laptop exposed and It was pre owned...
Elitebook!
You should seriously use the colorful backgrounds way more often. I never see that anymore and it’s a wonderful change.
Hey guys this is Austin.
This is a TH-cam channel Austin is this guys Hey.
That’s my line (kinda) My line:
*_HEY GUYZZZZ, THIS IS AWWWSTIN!_*
Elitebook 8460P is very good laptop for programming, put SSD in it. Plus you can upgrade the CPU.
The old and fat hp laptop we have the exact same ones at school
they're pretty nice. Even more if linux is on it tbh
it is sooooooooo heavy though
Guys this Austin is hey
Austin says "Hey cows. Cows say "Hay, where?"
But can they run pong?
