I find that “8gb is the bare minimum” is hilarious. I remember being impressed getting a cheap laptop in 2016 with 4gb RAM, dual core Celeron and intel HD integrated graphics. and being ecstatic to finally run Source games at a good res/framerate, really puts into perspective how low the bar is that I’ve set PC specs for myself.
Bruh, my current laptop has a first gen i3 with 4 gb of ram aswell, and it can at least run tf2 in 540p. Have seen a friend with a recent ish celeron n4something and its way smoother than mine on games specifically. Us people with very low requirements are easy to impress

@@SilentAndy The store on Amazon that sells them-- place all of the top of line parts into them and in some cases they get a new component a few week before stores. Hence why they sell them from $7,000 and up.
That Dell is a steal to be honest. Even has an optical drive and came with a mouse and keyboard. Also, 16GB of RAM means that you don't need to upgrade that anytime soon.
The Amazon listing for the Dell did say it was a refurbished unit, so that's probably why the case was a bit dinged up and repaired, they literally took a Dell that had been beaten up at whatever office it was originally in use at on the cheap to flip.
That's how I got a hold of my Lenovo, tbh. I just ended up swapping the processor for an i7 down the road and slapped a 1030 on. Replaced the fans with high speed ones so the case gets decent air flow and It's all been serving me well. lol.
@@ThatWolfWithShades Yeah, used machines make for pretty good budget PCs, it was better before the chip shortage caused GPU prices to go crazy since those are the parts that most commonly need upgrading, but people sell used computers for dirt cheap because the alternative is to just throw them in the trash.

this reminds me of my first gaming setup, which was basically just the home computer with a gpu thrown in. it had an amd a10-6700, 8gb ram, gtx 1050 ti, 2tb hard drive and an evga bronze 650 watt non-modular psu it reminds me of my first system in terms of how bare it looks inside that case

yeah but that athlon system is socket AM4. WAY more meat on that bone for upgrading, lga 1155 the best you can get is 3770k, atleast on an a320 board you can OC a ryzen 3400g on your next payday, plus PCIE 3.0.
Best Buy actually had some really good gaming pc deals this year. I got a prebuilt with a Ryzen 3700x with an aio, Radeon 5700XT, 16gb ram, 1Tb ssd for around $1000

The way this channel brands itself, I almost always forget that these are very appreciably knowledgeable people putting these videos together and there's a lot of knowledge and work that goes into these videos of sucky computers behind the scenes.
i had one of those dells for a while, before i could get parts to build my own. it worked really well, i just had to turn some more demanding games down to 900p low to get a 40fps. having that dedicated gpu is a lifesaver for low end gaming- its a MUST
That's why if you're going pre-built, it's better to go to a store like best buy, micro center(if your in the US), The Source and Memory Express (here in Canada), and even Walmart. You can try it in store before purchase, and there's a real person that can assist you in-store. And if the PC doesn't worked there's a place to return it.
That first PC with the bad install - I wouldn't be surprised it wasn't a return that amazon repackaged and put back on the shelf. I've had that happen quite a few times.

Computers like the Dell are fairly common on, Amazon. Companies will buy these older desktops with fairly decent specs and then upgrade them in some ways, ie storage or a gpu, then sell them on for a profit.
I grabbed an HP Elite-Desk 800 G1 with an i5 4570k, 16 gigs of memory, a GTX1050TI, 256 gig SSD, keyboard, and mouse for 375.99. (Already had a monitor) It still preforms well when playing medium range games like Enlisted and Dying Light.

I love buying Optiplex's because you can never go wrong. Super upgradeable and overlooked by some but they're great sleepers!
The dell computer seems like an ok starter pc for low intensity games such as roblox or Minecraft.
Throw a standard 1650 in there and it will run modern platform games relatively well at 1080p/medium settings in most cases.

I can definitely vouch for the i5 4570. I have one in my Hewlett-Packard system, and it runs games like a charm.
You can get one of these PCs with an i7 4770 for around the same price which allows for 8 threads, while the i5 4570 is capped at only 4.

Computers like the Dell are fairly common on, Amazon. Companies will buy these older desktops with fairly decent specs and then upgrade them in some ways, ie storage or a gpu, then sell them on for a profit.

My son has the i7 with the 3 GB 1030 and he's fine with it considering it's a 9-10 year old PC

I grabbed an HP Elite-Desk 800 G1 with an i5 4570k, 16 gigs of memory, a GTX1050TI, 256 gig SSD, keyboard, and mouse for 375.99. (Already had a monitor) It still preforms well when playing medium range games like Enlisted and Dying Light.
