Weird randomly started watching old hands yesterday on a youtube bender and the man himself comes out with an indepth interview for the very first time which is rare for tom durr dwan.

Great interview and I appreciate what Lee Davy tried to do with his questions, but would it have killed him to ask about his biggest pot win or loss and the hand history of it, or a poker question like it?
It’s obviously worth it. If you see stress and exhaustion then your playing the wrong game. He doesn’t regret any second of it because he loves the game that’s him. He’s doing what he loves to do and making a fantastic living off of it. And I doubt he owed money he was probably staked by paul phua, so that in itself is great insurance against any swings he had playing at nosebleeds. If part of that arrangement was to help expand triton poker then it was one hell of a deal-Triton poker is awesome Phil Phua Is a super Relaxed great individual, Dwan will always be fine, People just like hearing about dwans losses Just salty human tendencies where bad news travels faster-Doug polk was ectastic but was he ever there when Durr stacked some of those asian businessmen? How many times did durrrr win against these guys? Even if he was only up a little bit in those games and was staked in those games by backers like paul that game is colossal he is up at least $2-million to $10 million. He’s a grown man he is not about the limelight and publicity whatever happened out there if he lost and had to grind back its all good or if he won a bunch and then lost a bunch what does it matter? has alot of means of support given his networks with other high stakes card players, paul, he can handle himself. All i know is he is one heck of a cardplayer and undoubtedly the best cash game hold em player of all time. he is an icon. The man is fine living well and doing well even 2 yrs ago when this interview came out. And my phil phua take on it, on how everything went for him is all rumour because iv heard all the rumours so what Im guessing to be the worst case scenario likely didn’t happen even in that case its really nothing hes doing just fine. Have you ever seen him talk about how much he has won off of others? He keeps to himself he doesn’t boast about his wins like ever. he hardly talks about how much he has won ever. Because he stays out of the limelight doesn’t mean somethings wrong-Macau was where the game thrived and there was alot of money to be made. ALOT.
I think this interview was actually pretty great. Tom is definitely very intelligent. I do however dislike that he deviates away from struggle of being a poker player. 1 major issue would be the money. I know for a fact that their were instances in Macau where he was really struggling...Let's not forget how he disappeared from the scene for a long time after black Friday. Too many unknowns that I wish poker players were brave enough to share: LIke the struggles and realities of poker/gambling. I feel that we were mislead by all the High Stakes Poker we used to watch. Please let me know what happened to Eli, Ted Forrest, Viktor Bloom..and all these players. Even JRB say's he has a backer... Poker has a lot of harsh realities.
JRB sucks, Viktor Bloom still plays high stakes. Nobody mislead you. You didn't hear from players after black friday because alot of pros had the majority of their roll in full tilt. Jungleman admitted he had 60% plus of his roll in full tilt when black friday happened. They had to restart.
It's better as a hobby than a profession I think. I'd hate to play for a living. I guess some people don't have a choice. You can see how much he's aged, and I can't say I'm surprised. Seems like more than half of pros go broke eventually.

Yeah, old HSPs are rewatchable gold. It was actually the most fascinating poker-interview I've heard. Content like that is more fascinating than having players on Rogan. High stakes poker had some of the greatest players to ever play the game on the show. Its arguably the best poker show of all time. But if you take Gabe away, it would never be the same. Gabe is one of a kind, a good heart and good human being. Amazing humor and poker knowledge. Brilliant individual in general as well.

Dear Triton Poker And Mr. Phua,
Australia has been given the finger both in stale casino games, no house games allowed without licensing and heavy taxing and no house games allowed, thru legislation and access its un-managable.. Please make sth East Asia and Australia a priority for short deck for the reasons provided. so that we not stuck playing 1/2 til we die of boredom. This video talks about how hard it became to find decent action or good games, we need this. Best wishes from the little world down under.
As an intp I relate to him asking why
