Please react to Lee Seung Gi singing in Korean "Forbidden Love" (it has English subtitles) th-cam.com/video/F69_yzzCKpA/w-d-xo.html , Regards from Puerto Rico
My dad used to visit her house as a kid and she would allow the kids to grab a hand full of coins out of the jar for them to get candy. His aunts used to do her hair and makeup.
She even admitted to the audience that she had a COLD before she sang this and yet she went on to sing and KILL that song like NO OTHER.. I just ADORE Her!! xoxoxoxoo .. and to ME, her Interpretation OF the Lyric is just Perfection!!! Right??!!
I saw her at the Blue Note at the end of a tour: her voice was gone, she talked through her songs, and was still magical. The house was full of Japanese and Scandinavian tourists speaking during the breaks between tunes while she chatted with friends in the crowd, but I couldn't bear missing a thing she said
OMG!!! She makes it look so easy. Absolutely effortless. She commands an audience with her stage presence alone. So classy and elegant Sarah Vaughn was definitely one of a kind.
All the birds worldwide will stop flying and listen to Sarah Vaughan. She is the Stellar of all stars and blackholes. Wow!!! I love her. And the comment from you Andy is so welldone gives me goosebumps, fantastic!! I love you too!
I heard her for the first time in 2019 and I call her performances especially this, Misty, pure mastery. And her personality /character estupendous!!!!!!!!
I saw her live in Austin Texas in a beautiful setting. She was Divine. Her rendition of "Send In the Clowns" man, it moved the rafters. I felt her low notes vibrate my ribs and fill my heart. I treasure that memory. I was lucky enough to see Ella and Carmen McRae live as well...hence my extensive collection of jazz singer CDs. Andy, this is a treat for the holidays, and I'm truly thankful to you and your channel. best regards, and take care
"The black Callas", "The Divine One". There have been many attempts to express the genius quality of this voice in words. Ella called her the most "talented" voice, not without ulterior motive. For me, she is the most outstanding female singing voice since sound recording has been invented.
@@christopher6767 You obviously did not understand my comment. "For me, she is the most outstanding female voice since the beginning of sound recording" is my only personal valuation.
Yeah!!! Her voice was breathtaking! Even when she speaks the tone is stunning!!! Rich, smooth, skilled tonal notes. God truly blessed her voice. She was a clear master of voice. I can see why this teacher gets giddy. There is no one today that compares. Sarah, Nat Cole, Sam Cook.....truly devine!
Good Job Andy.....professionally critiquing Sarah Vaughan...Misty....Yes, her vocals, pitch and clarity of every note was perfect....Also, she stated she had a cold...and you can see the studio or stage did not have air conditioning or even a fan.... God bless this incredible artist....
Dear Sarah thank you for your artistry and love you gave to us. This live performance was heaven on earth. What an angel of beauty and loving personality only matched by your voice. I'm grateful to have lived to see you perform and now a lifelong fan of your music. My God this is amazing
I loved your reaction! 😂 Because this was exactly how I felt when I saw this video for the first time. I also had listened to her for years - being a musician and singer myself - poured over and analyzed every note she sang. But I had never seen her perform. This video made my heart melt into a puddle. I still have an almost ASMR reaction to it. Your facial expression captures it all perfectly! You just feel like you’re seeing a beautiful genius of a soul and her great love and knowledge of music. She sang with so much joy. Listening to that kind of joy will definitely take you somewhere - to a higher place. Thanks so much for sharing this with everyone!
I love your encounter! Can't be beat. It made me remember the first time I saw her live, AT THE TROUBADOR! SHE OPENED for Billy Paul. Well, folks, they got up and left when she closed. AND BILLY PAUL HAD A TOP HIT AT THE TIME! "Me And Mrs. Jones."
i love the way she takes you emotionally through the terrain of this song....flirty, becoking, yielding, enticing, vulnerably in love..made my heart go pitter-patter throughout 😄
I had the absolute privilege to see her when I was in college in Pittsburgh. She had the count Basie big band. He barely made to the stage, however once he sat down it was AWESOME! Sarah was incredible. I also saw her in Philly many years later with either a quintet or quartet...results were the same. Love her
Andy! Thank you so much for this master piece!!! I love female jazz performers, but I did not know Sarah Vaughan. I will look for all of her songs, such mesmerizing voice!!!
Thank you very much for choosing this live recording. Sarah Vaughan was sensational. A beautiful song, with excellent musicians and a great singer with incredible tuning, she looked like an opera singer. Fabulous.
My favourite song and a legendary singer. But you didn't give enough credit to the trio. Master musicians. AND the pianist's use of tremelos and crescendi to articulate the words/verses. So tasteful they were following her like hawks. Unbelievable. And thanks for the video I liked it a lot.
Yer awesome. what a beautiful heart you have mister, singer/teacher. I Love sarah Vaughan ,wow what a heart and singer. I"ve loved her voice for years and years... in my view rap and hip hop can NOT stand a chance in the Light of this and so much more. I discovered Sarah a few years back and it was like finding a diamond. She is fabulous and such a loving personality and a master of her craft. Thank for this reaction of her and live even! May I suggest you review and react to a live performance of Colm Wilkerson Bring Him Home Les Miserables 720p. Another master at work that will leave you in awe. Thank you
Only the Great One herself could give such a magnificent performance. It's sheer perfection. That phrasing, the timing, only Sarah Vaughn could do that. There'll never be another "DEVINE ONE".
Sarah Vaughan is one of my VERY favorites and I enjoy listening to her so much but I do believe that I enjoyed YOUR reaction almost just as much!!!!!!!
Andy Davis: thanks for the wonderful, informative comments, what an incredible voice, performance. Just incomparable. No modern singer comes close to Sarah Vaughn's mastery of phrasing, tone, technique. Bravo.
I had the same reaction the first time I heard it! It floored me! And to think that she did this live is amazing! I fell in love with Ms. Vaughan after watching this live performance! ☮️🖖🏽
Listening to Sarah Vaughan sing live is The Sh*t ! When she sings live, there's so much going on that you have to go back repeatedly and hear what she's doing with her voice. The full tone and richness and that VIBRATO ! Also, the layer upon layer of different sounds all happening at once. As a voice teacher, I don't know if you can even teach this type of singing ?! It's called a Phenomenon !
Thank you for posting this, Andy. I knew this performance of her, SHE IS the best singer/performer of all time. Many of the singers in the world (some of them, great performers too), consider her their guide.
I discovered Sarah Vaughan i]about 1966-67 when I was 18 and she instantly became my all-time favorite singer. Another of her songs that I recommend listening to is “Star Eyes".
When she was first working with bands, traveling, and performing, the guys called her Sailor for her cursing and rough language while playing cards, partying and hanging out. They loved her perfect pitch, and how she sang like an insturmentalist might interpret a melody or lyric. She's unique. Thanks for reacting to her. I get to hear it again for the first time through you.
Check out Vaughn's performing over the rainbow, she was younger then, but the phrasing and feeling unparalleled, she already got it then, endowed by nature with a divine talent
Amazing, Simply wonderful, the recording of his voice makes my soul vibrate. Her unique voice tends to keep me completely relaxed and cheerful. I love her
That was such a beautiful performance. So pleasing to the ears. Loved your dissection and reactions throughout the video Andy. Keep it up my Jolly dude!! 🤟🤟
La Divina, Sarah Vaughan, inolvidable, entrañable... magnífica! Gracias por incluir a viejos intérpretes para que las nuevas generaciones conozcan que no todo empezó en el Siglo XXI
Luckily, I don't think we'll ever have to face a situation in which we were asked to choose only one interpreter to listen to for the rest of our lives, but if such a case arose, I would instantly stick to Sarah Vaughn. She literally blows me away whenever I listen to her. It's not just her technical mastery and her mind-blowing artistry, it's the truth and originality in all of her performances. I have also enjoyed watching Andy Davis: his comments, his facial expression, and his honest reaction to a true angel of music make me feel he's a warm-hearted, knowledgeable gentleman. Thank you.
I love how you agree that she may be the best performance and singing ability I have heard in a while. You explained every beautiful part of her voice!
It was love at first sight for me. Actually never heard of her. I saw John Holiday on Voice singing this song and I fell in love with his voice. Now Im in love with both
