I agree. I purchased a Gretsch P-90 Streamliner, which was the least expensive of my 6 electric guitars, but is the most played these days. Something about that P-90 sound, with the semi-hollow body, gives me thrills like no other guitar. Lightweight, gorgeous finish, and super comfortable to play & hold.
@@timholtguitar6999 I own 2 Gretsch semi-hollow body guitars, including the P-90 Streamliner, and neither one makes any noise. The P-90 is a bit brighter sound, but it is still my preferred practice guitar. Great value for the money and very high quality finish.
@@timholtguitar6999 Some slight noise from bridge pickup with everything at 10, some gain on amp. Taking master volume down to 9 got rid of it completely, and they're a lot quieter than other P90 guitars I've owned. Would be confident recording & gigging with it, whereas a limited edition Epiphone I had with P90s was a real problem on stage. I tried it on a whim, fell in love, and am buying tomorrow. Just an absolutely sick guitar, let alone for the money.
I’ve seen a few of your videos and why am I just now realizing you’re in Evansville??? I live in a small town an hour away and it’s so cool to hear of someone local doing this. Love the video and love your other content as well, thank you so much
I am also digging that "unique" guitar. Gretsch deserve praise for moving forward and offering these beauties...you can tell they are confident in taking risks with designs. That guitar is gonna be a classic .
Wow!! Great demo. I have watched many on this make and model and this is far by the best hands down. This just keeps it simple ,guitar, cable, amp and player. Not overdone with pedals, effects, backing tracks, production and etc, I have been debating about getting this guitar and I think I might be sold after this video. This guitar pairs well with the amp. Not really totally familiar with Mesa , but this model works well with the Gretsch. Thanks for showcasing.
Gretsch are great guitars! I'm buying my third one now. The Electromatic range is an incredible value for dollar. Very, very gigable guitars right out of the box. And they're beautiful to look at!
Gretsch has been killing it the last 5 years, but only within the last year the Streamliner series got a revamp, and it shows with every model. that obviously bumped up the price of the Electromatic series, but i think it was worth it to inclease the Streamliner series. it reminds me of Squier.
Totally agree..I dont know of another guitar manufacturer that has such a comprehensive selection at every price point..especially with the build quality! I'm selling one of my guitars in order to get me one of these. That sound is delicious..at any price! Johnboy, Bristol UK 👍
P90s have always, always been my favorite and most used. Variation is a fantastic thing! Niwdays there are many P90s to chose from. These sound sweet and smooth. I'll definitely try them.
Very Cool Demo/Review, Thankyou. Found this very interesting, informative and entertaining. Have a couple of Gretsch Electromatics a G5215 and a G5248T. Am wanting a Gretsch Hollowbody, this has influenced me to check out The Streamliner series. With this P90 version interesting me as a point of difference to my other Gretsches. Thankyou. Cheers
I own the full size G2622 Streamliner p90 and I love the pickups on this guitar. Plays great and sounds amazing. Now thinking about getting this smaller version too. Gretsch is making a great product across all their lines.
Played this compared to other guitars around the same price and it is seriously spectacular value. Played Squiers, Epiphone 335, and it feels like a $300-400 price gap in sound/fit & finish. As far as pure specs, the G&L Tributes have the same electronics & hardware as their USA versions, but I like this a lot more than the Tributes I've tried.
That guitar has so much "vibe" and "meat." Love the clean tones in every position. I can see playing jazz riffs on the neck setting. Blues tones are awesome.
That guitar looks and sounds gorgeous. im gonna get one. I have a gretsch pro jet which I totally love but i have been rerunning this video for the last hour and it is amazing. great vid. brill demo. love your enthusiasm for it. i can tell you really like it. all the best.
First one I've watched with the subtitles accidently on. Some funny associations with the guitar sounds. On dirty you get Foreign :) BTW this was on my shortlist last purchase. Love those PU's.
Just picked up this gretsch, and I love it!! I feel bad for my American made strat, as it’s becoming very envious of all the time I’m spending with my g2655t p90….Fred
Nice video, man! And I agree so much about the names!!! Come on, Gretsch! You got Vox Bobcat, Eastwood Romeo, etc., those are great names! Come up with a cool name that is as cool as the guitars themselves! Not Fred, though ;)
I'm jonesing for the Gunmetal center block with the Fidelisonic P90's on it. But I'd really love one in the London Gray, so I'm kinda holding out for next year's models to see if they make that happen.
I have one of these Streamliners, but have real issues with pickup hum, especially in overdrive/high gain situations, which makes it almost unplayable in gig situations. Been like that right out the box. Wondering whether others have suffered the same, and what can be done?
Good sir, excellent review and playing. How would you compare "Fred" with a Sheraton? Which one do you think sounds better? I know they are very different guitars but I am thinking about buying a semi hollow so any advice should help. Thanks!
I think it depends on the music style you're playing. For ultra-clean, I would probably lean to the Sheraton, but if it's more gritty, the Fidelisonic pickups are really nice.
Yes I have a g26 27 TG Grinch with three pickups two Taco switches and five knobs I've been trying to figure out what the knobs or any extra Taco switch I know one knob is a master volume but if you could either come up with a diagram or a video on it so I can more understand what I've got and how to play it I would appreciate it have a good day your friend Howard
I have the same guitar in white. 3 volume knobs, 1 master tone, 1 master volume. The forward switch (towards the headstock) controls to neck and bridge pickups like a normal two pickup design. The rearward switch is for the middle pickup only and in the up position isolates it from the neck and bridge PU’s. In the middle position it adds it to the mix, giving you all thee at same time. In the down position it shuts the middle PU off. A bit confusing but fun to play with all of the different sounds for sure.
between this and the G5622T which is the best? i already have a electromatic pro jet and really like the design of the G5622T, but the p90s are calling me...
The guitar unlike traditional gretsches having a centerblock is a take on an es335 (not a gretsch) with p90s played thru a 60's fender pro reverb. The only reason it still sounds like it has gretsch genes (despite it has a centerblock) is because 1. The amp was a boutique clone of an amp originally voiced for es335s and 2) the physical shape of the p90s in it preserves that great gretsch tone when played thru the Filmore amp. (Or does so after the recording of it was edited).
I love your down to earth approach on your reviews. Not a bunch of BS. Sounds like you are talking to a bunch of friends in the room. 👍 I like those pickups but I prefer a stop tail bridge. Do they make one like that?
They look like "staple" pickups, which were Gibson's answer to Gretsch/DeArmond "dynasonics" - they use magnets for each string (like strats and telecasters), rather than slugs magnetized by bar magnets underneath them, like P-90 and humbucker pickups. The "staple" and "dynasonic" pickups have more clarity than P-90 pickups. I'm new to this just now today, and was trying to figure-out which kind of pickup this is, still not sure - they sound great in any case!~
Their names are almost Ibanez insane. There are certain Gretsch guitars I eyeball here and there with an eye to possibly pulling the trigger if there's a sale or whatever. But I can never be certain of the name. Then starts the Google search hell, which I then usually opt out of altogether, because Google is painful nowadays. I wonder how many chances they missed with me and others with their robotic names.

Fantastic review
I just grabbed a set of these to put in an old Eko Cobra in fixing up
Damn, those first few notes at 10:52 blew me backwards and I went flying .
I agree with the guy giving the review - this is a great guitar, at any price - but especially at this price. That's why I've just bought one.
Great video, definitely gonna pick one up!

BTW this was on my shortlist last purchase. Love those PU's.
I love the look of that guitar.
The bridge PU is further away from the bridge compared to a junior hence the smoother top end. I like it !
You are THE DUUUUUUUDE! Nice review and totally agree on the long names. lol
Excellent review, thank you
Thank you. I got tge no t version

my Gretsch's 2622t Biggby still trying to understand the tone knobs lol nice video
Hi Fred, thanks for the Demo. Do you find it neck heavy?
I had one of the earlier models without a Bigsby and that wasn't neck heavy at all.
They should just call it Streamline.Fantastic guitar for a little over £400 ive seen on some online websites,i am tempted very much
I can't wait to strum the pluck out of mine. On it's way. Village amber!
What amp are you using? Seems to compliment the Gretsch very well.

Cor, do they really have a finish called "London grey"? ...might get one to wear with my top hat and tails...in black .
@@giulioluzzardi7632 They really do and you’d be quite debonair.
