    Absolutely agree. The full-frame options from all the manufacturers, Sony, Canon, Nikon are creeping up into the 3,4,5 thousand USD range, which is completely crazy unless you can make $200 from your camera every day.
    If you can't make a sharp, well composed, well exposed picture with an A6600, then spending another $3000 won't help you.

      Yeah exactly mate, APSC is good enough. Full Frame is getting better and better but more and more expensive like you said. I’m sure the new flag ship APSC from Sony will be nuts but expensive, then the ZV 10 model will still take great photos.

    I love my a6600! The jump to the full frame equivalent in lenses is incredible- typically a full frame body alone costing more than an apsc body+ a few lenses.
    Thank you for sharing your a6600 content- as many on YT are using full frame we often forget how incredible the a6xxx really is.

      Couldn't agree more! I use the a6600 every wedding with the sigma 56mm, its so small and light

    Used to shoot photos professionally with large canon ff cameras (5d mkii/5d mkiv). been wanting to get back into taking photos for fun and I can't bring myself to want to haul about my gear. the 6400 with a nice compact lens seems perfect.

    sony apsc is already good enough for most people, a6400, a6600 and a7iii has similar result in video and photo, we should spend on apsc and good glass instead of jumping to full frame where money is a big issue... i used a6400, absolutely love the quality and photo, for video it's good but i would love to have ibis...

      Yes mate, if your not making a good amount of money with you camera you should keep the cost low, gear doesn’t matter

      @@gerardneedham Sorry for long reply, where I live (near Riverside in Calif.) There are maybe two camera shops and a few Best Buy stores. Checking with them yields almost no stock, so I mail order from B&H and Amazon. That covid crisis really messed things up. Just a note: I got into Sony due to the a6000 series looking like a baby Leica. Love the rangefinder aspect of the camera. The hump was OK for SLRs (my two 1979 Nikons) but didn't see the need in mirrorless.

    The 6600 is great but priced so high you could get an a7iii second hand for the price. The 6400 or the 6100 which I have, are better value propositions. I got the 6100 followed by the Sigma 16 and the 56mm 1.4 (excellent lenses) for less than the 6600 body alone.
    The three camera’s share the same sensor, same processor, same AF, same E-mount lens system, and flip-up screen. And for everyone who doesn’t colour grade their footage, the a6100 will give you the same 4k video at 24 and 30 fps, with 120 fps at 1080. If you want to colour grade, you can also do so by turning down colour and contrast manually before filming.
    Yes the 6600 has a more solid build and IBIS but at the end of the day the photos coming out of the a6xxx will be identical, and the better photos will be taken by the better photographer rather than the more expensive camera. IBIS is expensive, but steady hands come free. It’s all about not pushing the camera down when you push the shutter button. Also don’t forget that IBIS doesn’t solve the problem of subject blur. If you take a picture of anything that’s not a stationary subject while using a slow shutter speed, the subject will be blurry which, unless this is desirable for artistic effect, will results in unusable photos. In most lighting conditions with a fast lens like the Sigma primes, you will need a faster shutter speed in the hundreds or thousands of a seconds anyways in order to avoid overexposing. In such use the IBIS is superfluous.

    I currently use the A7Riii for landscape and astro. But considering adding the a6600 as a second body for sports/wildlife and or B cam. The reason I'm not choosing the other APSC in the Sony lineup is because of the battery. The a6600 uses same battery as my current full frame.

    • @gerardneedham
      @gerardneedham  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I can’t imagine having 2 different battery types ahahahahah

    Great video mate 👌🏼 I have a question I want to buy 6400 or 6600 if I can afford but I am worried about that I buy them now and few months later new one comes out do you have any idea when the new ones will come out I am new to Sony camera I have no idea

    • @gerardneedham
      @gerardneedham  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There will definitely be a new Sony apsc come out for sure but like the a6400 is still a great camera compared to the a6600, so the a6600 will still be a good camera when the new one comes out, as will the a6400. If your just after photo a6400 is a good choice, a6600 for video as it has IBIS

    I’m not a professional, but I use my a7iv and my a6600, depending on the situation. At the bar/restaurant or around town, the crop body with a 16 or 30mm 1.4 prime is just so easy. Sometimes when I’m out with my dogs I bring it for low hassle too. Also most people don’t talk about pixel density and the ability to crop in, with a 24mp crop sensor over a lower pixel count FF option. I like the FF when lighting is low or I want to use an excellent zoom lens.

    • @gerardneedham
      @gerardneedham  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah a6600 will always do the job, the sigma primes make the a6000 series in a way

    Did you just say you're not using manual focus over autofocus???? I edit Raw so I need manual still.
    I still use manual focus when I'm doing editorial shots for publications they don't take jpg.
    A tad bit confused by this statement. 🤨

    How does the dynamic range compare to the A6100? Would we get a little more by upgrading 6600?

    • @gerardneedham
      @gerardneedham  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tô be honest I thinks it’s the same sensor so would be the same, but the a6600 has better autofocus, frame rates, 4K ect

      I think 11fps is a good amount, like in the surf I shoot with the a6600 and never feel I need more frames, just having a good v90 as card is key

    I want to buy a new all-around camera that works well for both filming av taking photos. Right now I am struggling to decide if I want to get the Sony a6600 or Canon EOS 90D. I currently do photography as a hobby but would like to possibly do small projects on events and possibly wedding photography. Possibly also make some videoes for TH-cam :) Which one do you recommend for me? :)

    • @gerardneedham
      @gerardneedham  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A6600 for sure, you can pick up a bunch of small good but cheap lenses for the e mount. If you want to go canon the canon RP is a good option
