    The Sony a6600 has been on my radar for months. I already own an a6400 and an a7iii so I wasn’t sure if there was a place for it in my bag. I figured the best thing to do is to take you with me on an actual day of shooting with the #sonya6600 and see what you think.
    We’ll see how it handles low light, how the in body image stabilization works and what about the color rendering?
    I’ll talk check out the construction, rolling shutter, slow motion and overall ergonomics.

    I like the way you choose the music in each section. Mixing the parts where you speak about the camera and the b roll sequences with photos attached is en"JOY" to watch. I really like to see more videos of this kind. Once again that music selection is awesome, it just refreshed my mood.

    A6600 is the top range of Sony apsc. It’s not cheap, not light. The target market is for those who already have owned many apsc lenses to have longer life battery apsc camera. Otherwise, I would recommend a7iii or new a7c. The new a7c could have very close weight or size to a6600.

    The lack of UHS-II really doesn't help with clearing the buffer as well. They should've added 4K UHD 60fps even if it came with a 1.2 or 1.3x crop and 20mins limit. Overall A6600 is great a solid APS-C camera

    • @TechGearTalk
      @TechGearTalk  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah... no UHS-II is an interesting move. Heck, I would take 4k/60 with a 10 minute limit - just for broll. This is a solid camera for sure - is it $500 more solid than the a6400 🤔

    Thanks so much, again, for this video (I rewatched it today). I have now had the Sony A6600 for almost one year. I love the image quality I get for still photography. The camera is small for what it does and perfect for us travelers. My two issues: menu system is obtuse and IBIS is among the worst for those cameras considered for videography. Still, IBIS is fine for me when shooting stills and I'll use the weebill s when I travel. Again, I love this camera and am committed to the Sony body style.

      @@TechGearTalk Nothing too recent. My last major camera purchase was about 12 years ago and back then I spent about $3k. I want to invest in something that will be future-proof for a good deal of time. I don’t mind investing the money (maybe $3500) if it’s going to be at the top of the charts for the next 5 years or so. But if it turns out to not be truly amazing then I might go with the Sony a6400. I just read this article today which has me a little concerned. I like Sony a6xxx body design most than what the camera can do. It’s sleek with a minimalist touch. No protruding viewfinder head on the top plate. The a6600 design plus factor is that it no longer has a built in flash and the more it is sturdier. It’s a design mark for pro cameras. Also, the larger battery it has now and it’s bigger grip effect distanced itself from the other a6xxx models. I use the a6600 as my get up and go camera along with my Nikon system.

While that and IBIS are the advantages of the camera over others in its series I’d like to see more information about how you set it up, use it, features other than autofocus (a given advantage for Sony cameras) and output compared to other brands.

    I can't decide between this or the A7RIV. Money is not an issue. I'd rather spend money once knowing I have all the camera I need and knowing that any issues with my shots are completely on me not the camera; but at the same time the weight difference really stood out the most for me.
    Is the weight of full frame cameras something I'll get used to eventually, or is this just a pain point many photographers simply decided to just deal with?
    On the other hand, will I outgrow the APSC quickly that I'll want to replace it eventually? Lens selection/availability is my main concern with it.

    • @TechGearTalk
      @TechGearTalk  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So it sounds like you're only doing photography. The weight is what it is, and it's subjective so it's hard to answer. People use a 1DXMKII where as I would need an extra guy just to hold the camera up, lol.
      If you are concerned with wanting FF "later" you can still buy the a6600 and just buy the better, full frame lenses - this way you are good to go if you ever upgrade.
      I need your support if "budget is not an issue" 😂🤣
      Let me know if that advice makes sense.

    • @69elchupacabra69
      @69elchupacabra69 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TechGearTalk Yes just interested in photography right now and your advice does make sense but still undecided. haha
      Actually, I'm a complete beginner and if anything this will just be another hobby (albeit a serious one) of mine mainly to document all the other hobbies I do, so the idea that an A7RIV is overkill does come to mind. But again, I'd rather spend money and be satisfied, than just spend half of that and end up wanting more (or in your words, buy it nice or buy it twice).
      If you were a complete beginner again today, and have no intentions to becoming a professional, how long do you think it would take before I start to feel an APSC camera "limited"? Or is it possible that APSC camera can be "good enough" even for an enthusiast?
      PS: it may not be much, but I subscribed to your channel and patreon

    • @TechGearTalk
      @TechGearTalk  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Super appreciate you supporting me on Patreon 🙏
      To be honest, I would never feel like the aps-c was limiting me as a hobbyist. It comes down to lenses. For example, I shoot all of the videos on this channel (from the studio) on a cinema camera that essentially has a super35mm sensor which is essentially the same size as an aps-c sensor.
      I think the biggest part people don't take into account is size/weight. What I find happens most of the time is that people don't take their gear because it's inconvenient. As far as quality, I could get spectacular photos with an aps-c sensor. Hope this helps.

    I - er - still wonder if the LCD on this is better than the previous 6000-series cameras,which had a problem in sunlight. Hope your detailed review covers that.
    I agree, photo subjects in review vids aren't important, but it's nice to see some imaginative and creative ones sprinkled in there. It is important to see such things as image stab, color, resolution, and even a bit of the lens performance (bokeh, flare, distortion, DOF, etc), esp. if there's a kit lens.
