My son and I are planning a build like this but were not building a rat rod, were going to build a finished hot rod because we want to show people that they can have a finished out hot rod for alot less money than they think. Were starting with a 63 chevy cab and a 76 GMC 4wd frame. I've never been a fan of finned bed sides but they are growing on me and a friend of mine has a 4 door 60 rambler that he's been asking me to come and get to do something with so I might come get it and take the quarter panels and rear door skins off to make bed sides with, When we get to the paint were going to use Flat International Harvester Red just like the O.G. The goal is to build a tradional hot rod out of parts available and just laying around just like my granddad did in 1947 when his Army Air Corps enlistment was up.
