"The devil made me do it the first time, the second time l done it on my own." Just one of his many classic lines. In my opinion he was the greatest songwriter in country music. RIP Billy Joe!!!
I'm getting old though I don't think I am...still a kid in some ways and so is Billy Joe. I looked at this video and it took me back to a time that was pure magic in Austin. And I think the music gods for letting me be where i was when so much of the early Austin sound was debuting. Ol' Billy's still handsome but he was something else back then. Thanks for the clip. I'm lost in reveries of Austin nights long ago .
Wow. BJS was a handsome son o' a gun! Great song, great songwriter/singer. I only saw him for the first time a few years ago. Sorry i missed out on his early years! :)
I still think Waylon wouldn’t even be an outlaw if it weren’t Billy Joe. Waylon “Tried to be Billy Joe” then because one article in the rolling stone said Billy Joe was the real hero of Honky tonk hero’s “TRUE” Waylon got all butt hurt and said I’ll never use another one of your songs. And his a career ended over night.
Is eddy on this? I would think hes a kid but i dont know. Anyone jniws if this is eddy let me know plz? Thanx so nuch! Im english and love this kinf of country outlaw rock!

The man could tell a story.
Agreed-the Cole Porter of Country Music.
It doesn't get any better, he could reach everybody with his song and story.
I'm born and raised in Los Angeles... but if country still sounded like this I'd be walking around with a cowboy hat and boots
Even though he’s gone, country music still sounds like this. If it don’t, it ain’t country. Put on the boots
That guitar tone is so good
Billy Joe could turn a phrase like no other!
Oh my, Billy passed. He is with Eddie now. God bless them both.
