I've listened to about a dozen of those famous and historical recordings, and to me this is the golden standard of Beethoven's 5th.

The tempo is good. Bernstein seems to draw out every note somehow. Others rush through it. Good understanding of the music. The brass is great. Overall a great rendition
Just so we're clear, this is Karajan, not Bernstein, and this is indeed the best performance ever recorded

La mejor versión de Karajan de esta sinfonía es la del año 1962 (publicada en el año 1963) con la misma orquesta es decir la Filarmónica de Berlín. Y digo mas, esa versión tal vez sea la mejor que se haya grabado en la historia.
Sí, opino lo mismo. Su mejor grabación de estudio y, en mi opinión, la mejor de toda la historia es la de 1962. La de C. Kleiber (VPO, 1972) compite con la de Karajan solo en el primer movimiento y en el incio del tercero... en el segundo movimiento y después del tercero se desmorona. Furtwängler (¿VPO?, 1954) compite con la de Karajan en el tercer y cuarto movimiento.
En cuanto a performances en vivo, creo que nada supera a la grabación en vivo de Karajan en Moscú (1968). Una extraordinaria segunda opción de grabación en vivo es la de Furtwängler WWII (1943). La de C. Kleiber en Chicago (¿1978?) creo que es un desorden total...
