another fun fact about world expo park - their huss ufo, ranger, breakdance and troika all ended up operating at luna park sydney from 1995 onwards!

I drove the UFO at Canberry Fair in the 80's , was challenged to make it scary , I was able to do that to my riders to their upset stomachs delight 😂

I used to work at wonderland Sydney 97-99 and operated the bush beast among other rides. Loved that place. But you are right. Sunway had no intention to keep the park open.

Oh this made me feel old 😂 spent so many days at Wonderland, and two school excursions to Sega World. Sega was really boring. There was a weird room with soft cushions and tv screens. I'm scared of rides and I thought the roller coaster was dull. So. I have photos somewhere.

Great job! Will never forget the whiplash from the Bush Beast it was a rough ride ut boy it felt like going to Wally's World in Vacation seeing that coaster. Shame you didn't feature the Big Dipper at St Kilda Luna Park which is sorely missed by anyone who went in the 80s and earlier.. not sure when they pulled it out but you can't even tell there were two coasters there now sob

I grew up in the Blue Mountains, and remember when Phillip Hammond started building the Orphan Rocker. (Us local kids called it The Suicide Coaster for obvious reasons). There's a lot more to the story than what was said here.
When Phillip Hammond tried to get final approval, O.H &S denied the final approval, sitting safety reasons. Due to the coaster going along the vet edge of a 300+ foot cliff, they didn't want to risk anything going wrong. The rest of the Hammond family agreed, so they never opened the ride. And, also for the other reasons mentioned here.
I know of this, as my dad was one of the people involved with it not being approved.

Myer Centre Adelaide is the most tired shopping centre you’ve ever seen these days. Half the shop fronts are closed and boarded up. The coaster track’s still up there as far as I remember. No one I know has been there in years!

Hi, I am wondering if you were aware that there was Two Parks around Liverpool Sydney. Magic Kingdom and there was a little privateer Park on Camden Vally Way EL Blanco. Actually sitting here there was also another really nice boutique privateer park on again Camden Valley Way which operated rearly and only when the owners were not doing carnivals. It's was so they can get to see what maintenance services needed doing. So they got council permission to operate as an fairground park 1 or 3 days a month. It was free to attend but BYO drinks and food and that one little solitary mobile bog. She took some damage over the years. LOL

Luna park in Melbourne is probably one of the few still in operation 😅 most others have disappeared. Melbourne show used to have them too but they're gone from it too😢 we know the problem too as it affects markets as well. It's just too expensive to keep them running and public liability is too high. It was the death of the Carraben Gardens & all their attractions. (No rollercoaster, but the chair lifts, mini golf and the water ride)

When I went back in Jan 2008 it was a shopping mall with limited shops and I got a shirt with a battery powered clock and timer

Oh my GOSHHHH Wonderland!!! 🥺🥺 Honestly making me feel SO sad to see those bits of relics lying around in the scrub like pieces of trash!! 😔 Wonderland deserved better than that. F U sunway bastards!!! 😡 lousy NSW government should've stepped in and done something to keep it alive, even if it wasn't very profitable to at the time! I remember there was a period where you'd go and some of the rides were always shut down (one of my favourite rides The Wizard being one of them) citing repairs but the repairs never seeming to get done and the rides just were never started again before the park closed. ☹Have you got a video just about wonderland more in depth? So many memories of the different rides coming back to me right now!! The tassie devil, the old cars you'd drive around connected to a rail, pirate ship, beastie always a fave, getting a headache from your head banging against the side of the seat restraints when the Demon starts to corkscrew while upside down,... rest in peace Wonderland, you are gone but not forgotten. 😭

There are rumours that resurface every now and then about a replacement, but they usually don't come to anything. I know there's a developer who wants to build a large entertainment precinct in the area that would include a smaller theme park named after Wonderland. Hopefully something happens one day.

The wild mouse was not the first coaster at the site for canberra. We had a another, hit me up to discuss, as I rode and worked at Canberry or Canberra Fair and later known Australia Fair. It was better than magic Mountain in Merimbula. Canberra/Anberry fair had also a bucktload of flat rides.

Hey man, thanks for the comment! I did happen to read something about past coasters at Canberry Fair, but couldn't find enough substantial information, so settled on using the Mad Mouse as the coaster I spotlighted from the park.

Wait a minute. You know that both of you are right and wrong at the same time. It's similar to the Scone saga is it this or that. As both can be said and both be right. Even in my extended family it has both way's of saying it. My cousin from WA says it different to the Vic and NSW Contingents and so on. Hell even SEGA back in the day said that they were aware that it's pronounced in different ways and both were right.
