- Jurong Bird Park is moving!! The entire park will soon ship out to Mandai, right next to Singapore Zoo, River Safari and Night Safari. This colossal enterprise hit the same 2020 snag as the rest of us however, and progress has been slowed down. This is a great opportunity to re-visit the Old Jurong location with the kids before it all packs-up and vacate for a new and shiny future!

They heard you!
I think the government wanted to make western Singapore more attractive to live in but couldn't afford to build a zoo back then

Thank you for sharing your family outing. What beautiful kids you have and your narration was awesome and humorous as well. LOL...... 👍😀
Thank you very much!
Hey I absolutely love your commentary, love your humor, love your videos! It's like I'm rediscovering Singapore as a Singaporean myself through your videos 😂 Stay safe to you and your family during this tough period and I'm looking forward to more of your content. Cheers!
Thank you very much! It’s a nice country you got there, I really like it!

Jurong Birds Park...Welcome to
the place here..u can see all kind of birds. 😀
Shoebills for the win!!
Stumbled across your channel and really enjoying all your videos. They contain the perfect combination of wit, humour, knowledge and offer a completely fresh perspective and appreciation about the great things Singapore has to offer that's often lacking amongst Singaporeans like myself. The videography and editing are great too. There's a lot of thought and effort that you're putting into these videos that the viewers may not notice. Subscribed and liked all your videos in the hopes that you'll keep producing more fantastic content!
Couldn’t ask for more! Thank you very much indeed!!
Thanks for this upload Simon. Jurong BP is one of our favourite SG attractions and we’re really looking forward to seeing the new facility after seeing pt 1 documentary on CNA. Of course after the world returns to something like normal.
Glad I’m not alone watching the CNA documentary. It’s a great peek behind the curtain!
Wow... again, a wonderful video. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
My genuine pleasure!
Just moved from UK one year back, videos are highly informative. Keep going Simon . I am your new subscriber.
Thanks for watching! Plenty to see and do in SG, even in phase 3 of Circuit-breaker!
You have a beautiful video. The Bird Park has certainly come a long way. One of my favourite places to visit to “destress” ever since my visit when it opened.
“Distress” or “de-stress”? 😁It’s certainly a good place to unwind and escape the urban soundscape for a little while.
thank you for capturing the sites and beauty of Singapore! sending love to you and your family
🥰
Great video mate, loving the contents 👍 appreciate your view on our country and keep doing what you're doing! 😄
That’s what I’m planning on doing! I have not run out of places to see, secrets to uncover, or delicious foods to eat!
Very well made video ! ❤️ thanks for presenting the best of interesting Singapore’s spots ☺️
My genuine pleasure! Keep watching, I’ll keep on making!
Thanks for showing all the love for our bird park
The pleasure is all mine!
Keep-up the good work! It's very educational with the spice of fun notes.
Glad to hear it! I learn a ton by doing these videos, and that’s part of the appeal to me as well!
I still want to go back to Singapore and see the birds, parks and the zoo animals
You and me both! I’ll be planning a trip back whenever the new bird park opens!
Haha. Really love your voiceover, man. Great content you got there! Looking forward to the Mandai Eco Park!
Oh yea. Subscribed!
The intro is excellent!! Its well spoken, very concise and captures the essence of ur channel. Keep it up buddy

Most welcome!
Always good video.

Thanks for watching, and taking time to comment!
Wonderful video Simon n family.👍👍👍Enjoy every minute of ur amazing video. 🥰
Thank you very much!
A very nice thing to read, thank you!
As a Singaporean who’s lived 15 years of my life in Canada, I really enjoyed hearing your perspective. Makes me remember to cherish what we have here in Singapore; although I miss Banff! 😅
Ob yeah - Banff is the most idlic version of Canada! If I lived in Banff, I wouldn’t complain about Canada so much!!
@@SimonSaysCanada haha, yes! Except perhaps it’s crazy weather. I was there in May and one side was snowing, and then an hour away it was awesome sun!
Yeah, that’s mountain weather! I love Banff - I need to go back there one day.
another great video Simon. Always love the humour.
Thanks for always watching!
Everyone gangsta till Jurong closes and Jurassic park theme plays.
Also have a good time in our country.
Thank you, Agent 47!
Man, Jurong Bird Park’s level design would make a crazy DLC map!
@@SimonSaysCanada I do not shoot birb.
Thanks for this! Really great goodbye to a super amazing park!
Couldn’t agree more!
Wonderful video about the wonderful place

Thanks for watching!
Thanks for another great video, Simon!
As my own SG contract got shut down due to the pandemic, your videos help keep me sane in the never-ending Nordic winter.
I'd love to see a video sometime about insights into how you ended up in Singapore; what you do for a living, how you got an offer in Singapore, and an honest opinion on setting up costs, living costs in general during the pandemic, and how grueling those work days turned out to be after the introduction period. If you have time, I'd sure love to know more about that!
Anyway, thanks for some great and entertaining productions :-)
Best,
Dennis
Hey Dennis, thanks for taking the time to write this! Not sure I want to dive too deep into what I do for a living, especially since this channel is my pressure valve to do something completely different than the weekdays - but we’ll see...
Again, not sure the gruelling days at work are strictly Singaporean - it’s a diverse group of people, and upper management is mostly European, so yeeaaah... Kind of a downward spiral if I let this channel be about workdays...
But hey - we’ll see! I might get to it at some point.
Love your videos! More so the content.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
Enjoyed your video as always.
Had the privilege of working in JBP for 17 years in my younger days. Best career ever!!!!!
Can't wait for the new JBP too!!
That is awesome! Tell me, is that a proper farewell video in your opinion? Anything I could’ve done better?
@@SimonSaysCanada Think u did a fantastic job as usual seeing that this is a vlog and not a full length documentary. Enough juice to get the gist of what was, is and what's coming! A great tribute to JBP and SG.
And looks like your children had fun. Obviously daughter is also picking up daddy's cheekiness! 😂
Await your next video! "No pressure!!" 😂😂😂
Got yourself 1 new sub from Singapore. High quality content, great humour and i do not know about paddling to pulau ubin.
If you are into nautical sports at all, I highly suggest you give SUP a try!
When I first watch it, I thought you were doing a documentary until I saw you with your kids...😄 But is really very good to watch. Well done! 👏 👏 👏
Thank you very much! Just documenting a day out at the old Bird Park!
It's a very nice video, full of compliment and encouragement that i have shared with my colleagues. Thank you very much from the Jurong Bird Park Team!!
Thank you guys!!! You make the sun shine brighter for each person who ever walked through your gates!
Thanks for the entertaining and informative video. Definitely need to visit before they close for the move to Mandai.
Thanks for watching my silly videos and taking the time to comment!
thank you for doing this video Simon :)))
My pleasure!
Thank you Simon, you are awesome 😎

I’ve been trying to catch her in that mood without her noticing for comparison... It did not go over well! 😅
Thanks for sharing ! Great Video. I am headed there on 30th Jan. It is my last chance to visit too, been there when I was little on school trips. Can't wait to visit the new Bird Park in Mandai, it is going to be a huge affair moving the birds. Love all the Zoo, Rainforest Park, etc... Yes I am proud to say we do a job job taking care of the birds and animals in our park, serious business ..haha...
I agree. It puts most Canadian (and American) zoos and animal parks to shame.
Had a one day stopover in Singapore many years ago and spent it at the Bird Park. Unfortunately one day was nowhere near long enough to do it justice. Thanks for bringing back some excellent memories.
Great place to spend the day!
Thanks
Right back at you!
great commentary. haha. makes me feel like visiting the bird park soon
Cool! It’s currently 2,50 SDG instead of 25 for locals, WORTH IT!
have been there before and I really love the Bird Park. I hope I can visit the new Park soon. Shoebill is soooo cool.
Shoebills are IMPRESSIVE!
Mantap betul bung.... Top

Alright! Finally! Where it supposed to be.
The new park should be epic enough
Nice editing, i like your video
Thanks! Check out some of the other ones - you might like them too (or so I hope!)
Well done Simon, another good video!
Thanks Cat! For some reason, this one is on fire!! Doubled the subs and did twice the views of my best viewed video so far... So hard to predict what will work on this TH-cam thing! 😄
@@SimonSaysCanada Indeed, congrats! Perhaps Jurong Bird Park has a very special place in many Singaporeans' heart, and your sense of humour certainly helps promote your video further! I had been there since I was a little boy, and I have a very fond memory of that park.
You should go back before it’s gone! I really enjoyed it there. More than I thought I would.
@@SimonSaysCanada I brought my kids there before when they were much younger. Now they just refused to follow me anymore 😅. Maybe I should check it out myself, going alone.
I approve this plan! Maybe drop the board in Flamingo Lake real quick - that would go viral!
Just discovered your channel. A subscriber now.
Thank you very much, hope you enjoy it!
Love ur sense of humour🤣😂
At the risk of being a little self-serving, if you enjoyed the humour, you may enjoy a lot of my other videos as well! The Singapore Zoo video is probably a good pick 😛 Thanks for watching!
Happy to entertain!
Hello Simon, nice meeting you, I am from Singapore, hope we can be friends on TH-cam 😊
Thanks for the upload. I prefer Jurong bird park over the zoo actually. If you go there before Covid 19, you can see more vultures, eagles and giant bats too! I guess during this period, they couldn't loan those exotic majestic birds because of Covid 19. The best attraction is the place where there is the hanging bridge where the birds fly around you and when you look below from the bridge you see the peacocks walking around. It's like paradise.
They’re pretty equal in my eyes, which is saying a lot for a bird park to compete with crocodiles, cheetahs and pandas!
Thanks Simon, great video. Check out the trumpeter hornbill- the coolest guy in there
I do have shots of the trumpeter hornbill calling out! Very unique song indeed.
Nice👍
Thanks!
Fun fact: I've been here as a child and volunteered to hold a ring for a vulture to fly through :D dream or not it was beautiful!
That is so cool! I would totally get a pet vulture! 😁
Me too tbh all birds are cool
can we keep the old bird park plants and trees after the migration? can we keep the waterfall at the jurong bird park as part of a new park rather than destroy it?
Can we move in and build a micro-society like in the Walking Dead? That would be a great spot, I think!
Super
👍
Welcome brother...
Thank you!

I’ve heard that once or twice, yeah. I don’t have the same voice, though! 😛
i love the video buddy
Which one is your bird?
👍👍
✌️
Hope you didn't miss the Waterfall Aviary. Easily the most impressive display in the entire park
Through the years, it's an extremely popular dating spot xD Hope the new mandai one can at least live up to it haha
We did miss it! Kids got too tired to keep following me around - but I have a mind to go back by myself and check it out one more time!

when is the new jurong bird park going to be completed?
Everything I can find says 2020... Hopefully it would be before 2021 ends?
@@SimonSaysCanada cheers Simon
I was a bird keeper there 20 years ago
Did you enjoy it?
Thanks for bringing back Coco B ware. He’s already 63?!
Koko B. Ware never truly left!!! I’ve seen him pop around the north American independent circuit every now and then! 😛
Jurong Bird Park may be replaced by Universal Studios Jurong (Harry Potter Theme Park and Jason Bourne Stuntacular), because there will not be enough space to house more items in Sentosa. Similar to Uniqlo Tampines 1 going to be shifted to Uniqlo Tampines Mall.
Hmm. Not sure how I feel about this info... We’ll see how it goes.
Not true. Sentosa is actually being expanded and land reclamation will connect it with nearby Pulau Brani.
I've only been here twice
You may have time to go once more before it moves!
Hii.. New subscriber.... woww... your videos are so beautiful ❤❤❤
Thank you very much! Welcome aboard!
@@SimonSaysCanada are u in Singapore ?
Unfortunately not - had to cut my time in SG way shorter than I anticipated… But I’ll be back one day!!
@@SimonSaysCanada okay brother.... my heartiest congratulations for your valuable work ❤❤❤
Remember our founding father Dr. Goh initiated the bird park in Jurong. Birds are less expensive compared to zoo big eaters. Also show the World how environmental friendly can be within a Industrial Park.
It’s the beauty and the love that comes through. If costs were kept low, it certainly does not show! Great initiative by Dr. Goh ❤️
Well well well, Dr. Goh also stopped the another Oil Giant Mobil then to acquired Sentosa to be refinery plant. In the early years, Sg got so little option when it got booted out from the Peninsula. Nevertheless, he decided to keep it as a leisure place for local. He then instructed our EDB officers "No means no, to Yankee Oil Giant". Another of his contribution is our $illy dollars. Not even LKY believe we could survive in our own currency terms. He made it.
Sounds like a historical character i definitely should know more about!
The last time i was in bird park was a few weeks ago and it rained so hard my T shirt is so wet
I saw the penguin head fall down at there back
Same! But the rain is so warm in SG, it’s like taking a shower!
Ang daming magaganda Ngayon kisa noong that was 1985 pa.
What?
I didn't know the bird park is moving until now.
I was wondering what they were building around Singapore Zoo, checked online, and that’s how I learned. Would have already happened without COVID.
So do I
Great move! Should have been done a long time ago. Now it’s a one stop destination for animals AND birds
Indeed, a good plan!
Looking forward to collaborate with you in your next project :)
Which one? I always have a dozen projects brewing 😛
you recorded this on iphone ? 🤩
I did.
Now Jurong’s getting less and less green. Progress = sadness
Yeaah... Hopefully they keep the trees up.
@@SimonSaysCanada Hey simon, I lived here more than 20 years.. unfortunately they almost never leave the trees up when they demolish something. where I stay in singapore, it was really painful seeing 40yr old trees that shaded whole roads getting mowed down for train stations that are seldom used..
hmm waited so long , there a tortoise and turtle museum in orto nearby
Indeed! Working on that video next :D
I been there before.
No way, me too! 😛

Does anyone know when will the bird park actually move to Mandai?
No hard date yet, as far as I am aware. The work in Mandaï seems far from over, as the moment of this writing!

When could I say the same? 10 years? 25. 😝
@@SimonSaysCanada I have no comment as a Singaporean. As, I haven't been Jurong bird park for 10 yrs.
A cassowary tried to kill me once, a very dangerous bird. It was nesting at the time.
In the wilderness? Where? How? What did you do??
@@SimonSaysCanada Perth zoo, if it wasn't for the fence, I'd be gutted. It ran straight at me and jumped kicking. The cassowary has a long knife of a toe. No doubt I would've been in trouble. I could see the large eggs on the ground, I'd panic if I saw one in far north Queensland.
It was so fast, and never has an animal tried to do that to me in a zoo before. It weaved between the trees at fast pace, I would've had no chance.
Damn! Glad you are still with us!
