  • Visitor numbers are at an all-time low as the COVID-19 pandemic forces zoos around the world to shut their doors. But as Singapore’s circuit breaker ends, how are Singapore’s wildlife parks preparing to welcome back their visitors? How will they cope and find the funds to keep going?
Inside the zoo, its oldest living Sumatran orangutan, Charlie, gets ready for his close-up while Quincy the Amazon parrot disrupts a livestream with his raucous singing. Behind the scenes, an endangered Sri Lankan leopard arrives at the zoo to help repopulate his species. But the veterinarian team must find a way to check his reproductive health before he meets his mate.

I honestly think this would make a great series. I imagine there would be quite a lot of interest in knowing what goes on behind the scenes of the Zoo and learning a bit more about the animals.
Edit: I kinda thought this was a one off thing (hadn't reached the end yet). Anyway, looking forward to more in the series!

I do believe animals in Singapore zoo are well taken care of unlike those in poorer countries like Indonesia, Pakistan, etc. In Malaysia the zoo even asks people to donate money to feed the animals in the name of adopting one of the animals.

was wondering zoos can tie up with wholesalers and farms to purchase "ugly" fruits and veggies to save cost.

I love our zoo very much and it is thanks to the dedicated teams working to put together such an ecological zoo, tied to the primary school syllabus. Teachers can find endless source of resources by exposing all our senses to such environment The other wildlife parks also need the government to keep them going. We learn to appreciate and educate our children to care and be kind to all living specimens.

@@TheFatmerrill actually they do. In the Singapore zoo they actually put signages up to remind us to not feed the wild animals as they can sustain themselves with the forests near mandai (all under conservation, dont worry)
In fact, today, some guests were "harassed" by a couple wild monkeys for food. Even snatching soda cups or plastic bags.

  • @panzersouth

Why no plans to vaccinate all animals in singapore zoo ? All animals should be vaccinated. This is to "protect" them , "protect" their family . Beside, after jabbed it just feel like "only a flu" . Those animal who do not jab will be "barred" for work, mall and need to pay their own medical bill . Remember the key word "protect" .
