I love it. Every time I hear it, a massive elephant walking about comes to mind and I'm filled with joy. Gotta love Calvert as the ringmaster too. What a character he was. Very Zappa-esque with that horn section.

Zappa-esque is true when you consider billy the mountain and oh no LOL

Superb track from Roye and the boys. As previously mentioned, the Tab In The Ocean album is a bonafide prog classic and Remember The Future and this album are bloody good too. The horns on this track always remind me of t.v themes in the 70's. Exceptional stuff.

This album flooded the discount racks in the states in the 70's for a while. Never heard of them before and picked up Nelly. She was heavy but it was well worth it! Thanks for posting!

@mechanicojoe - So nice to hear some of the younger generation is discovering and listening to real music! There is hope yet. In the words of Marc Bolan, "Rock On!"

As great as this song and album are the best moment that Nektar had was when they sounded like serious competition for Pink Floyd. During that era -- with their first US release (and actually their third album): "Sounds Like This," was released and the long musical track "1-2-3-4" set the incredible pace. Two albums preceded this LP and were only released in England and Germany: ("Journey to the Center of the Eye," & "A Tab In the Ocean") and then the 2nd US release: "Remember the Future," which was incredible and also Pink Floyd-inspired. After that, commercial record companies got wind of them and their first success in the US was the "Down to Earth," album above which is a little more commercially accessible. Then came "Recycled." By this time, their intense lead guitarist and founding member Roye Albrighton left because they were mutating from progressive into a more pop-progressive band. The album "Magic Is a Child," was the nail in the coffin. Breaking up in 1980 Nektar returned to form somewhat in 2001 and has been recording since with synth legend Larry Fast. In 2007 lead guitarist Roye Albrighton returned and the real Nektar started to taste sweet again. In its original inception Nektar was fabulous and the only band that even came close to what Pink Floyd was doing. It's too bad they lost the momentum in the mid-70's.

@morpheus1x Remember how many awesome records were found in the discount racks in the 70's? I remember finding Live in the Air Age by Bebop Deluxe, as well as Recycled around that time. Can't believe it's so many years later, and modern music has been reduced to such a shell of its former self. Anywho, cheers, and thanks wormpiano, Corky.

Just a beast of a song. Someone stated it was there "Sargent Pepper'. That may be an under statement. They hit there groove on every song on this album. Just a monster.

Yes there's been many changes in the music industry but I do enjoy the new technology which gives us instant access to just about artist plus its allowing the young generation exposure to those greats. never dreamt my 10 yo and i could sit down and enjoy Nektar together with the click of a mouse!
    Peace
