As a Chinese Canadian, I really appreciate what 88rising is doing for Asian representation in North American pop culture, and the unique art that comes out of that. I started listening to Joji and 88rising around this time last year, and it's been exciting to see them continue to grow and explore new ways of building up that culture.
In much of Joji's music, he seems to be having an internal dialogue with himself. I thought it would be fitting to bring back my "twin" to explore this concept with a duet arrangement. Thanks so much for listening!

The fact this is played on cello, I just lost control lol. I frickin LOVE the way cello sounds SOOOO MUCH. Violin used to be one I obsessed over but as I grew up, I loved cello's deeper feel. Frick. Sadboi song became even sadder and classical.

is it depressing to someone else when i admit that i genuinely enjoy music like this? i feel so alienated to my own boyfriend partly bc of this, my mom who's always thought that i was weird from my upbringing and.. it's just that i've always been struggling with this kind of thing with everyone to actually fit in.. but this kind of music inspires me, compels me.. it really resonates with my soul. i really can't explain this thing to anyone else.

I ended up quitting violin when I was young and no one stopped me and now I'm sad I never learned enough and I'm now an adult who is too busy to relearn.

I recently got a cello, and I've been wanting to play it for years. I play violin, and 8 other instruments with these 2 but Violin and Cello have always resonated with me. Joji's music resonates with me, especially this song. The feeling of grief and internal struggle really is something that hits home for me... and your composition of it... I haven't cried in a while, but I definitely just cried my eyes out when I heard this. I'm subscribing.
