I love hearing your mom speak. French is a beautiful language. Tell her thank you for sharing herself and her knowledge. She looks much younger than her age! Enjoy each other!
This may be one of my favorite videos and I enjoy a lot of them. Your Mom’s explanations seemed like common sense but as a person mediocre at sewing, I have never thought of some of the things she mentioned. Sewing doesn’t really want to be a friend to me, but I will never stop trying! My Mom did the stitch/thread marking on some points, but I never thought of doing it for the notches. My favorite part of sewing is all the prep work, then I send it all to my Daughter for the actual sewing. 😂😂😂
That thumbnail just made me smile because I know how much it means to you to have your mom with you. She's looking great. So nice that the boys will have a souvenir from your moms visit with thier new robes
Oh wow I love this video of you and your mom, It's so special when you both have a great love for what you do, and the knowledge you will gain from your mom is priceless. Your mom is so natural behind the camera, she should do her own Utube channel... Elsie😊😊😊😊👌
So happy that you are working with your mother and will have it video recorded for generations to come. I’m really enjoying the sewing lessons both French and English. Keep up your amazing 🤩 work. ❤❤
I love you both! I am currently 73, and learned to sew by hand and do simple embroidery at age 8 by my mother; she had been taught to sew, embroider, and upholster by her mother [an RN & nurse-anesthetist from 1920-1986 by career], and her maiden aunt. a bookkeeper, who reared her from age 12 when her parents divorced to h.s. graduation at 16, during WWII. Skipping over more chaos of parental 2nd marriages and divorces, she traveled many places and made many lifelong friends. She decided to take a tailoring class at nights when I was about age 9, and bought a very basic portable machine circa 1960. Her lined winter coat class project was perfect. She taught me basics but mostly I installed zippers as her vision was poor & declining; my stitched zippers amazed her but to this day I have never created a buttonhole! Now I am blind but would still rather create 5 garments from scratch than mend or alter one garment. My first garment was a "lace cage dress" for a school dance; with her guidance it turned out stunning. For decades I sewed my own wardrobe until the price of fabric was prohibitive. Tell your mom I sewed in her style/methods until blindness [and rear-ending injuries/& zero $ settlements from 3 drunk drivers [at my ages io 19, 37, and 40] left me perm disab. Hugs to you all!
I so enjoyed seeing your sweet mother. She looks fabulous!! You are blessed to still have her and be able to spend time together making memories. I look forward to your next video!
Hi i came across your video as i was on google as a video suggestion. Got to say i love your mom she looks like a very lovely lady. She reminds me so much of my mom, she taught herself how to make her own clothes and she loved it. She tried to teach me when i was in my teens but being young all i wanted to do was be with friends. Now im 56 and wished id listened more i would give anything to have her back. So big hug for mom and i will be watching more of your videos of sewing with mom ❤
You are so fortunate to still have your Mom to sew with. After losing mine, I can still hear her instructions 'over my shoulder'. Just as a lot of other women in the 50-60's, she used to make some of our clothes. I remember turning so slowly, stiffly so she could hem my dresses. I will enjoy learning her french seams and tailoring tips. Have fun with your sewing, ladies. TFS.
Hi Sophia, your mom is so lovely. I am so happy to see you both sewing together makes me remember my beautiful mom when we would cook and bake together. I kept her recipes and make them for my children and husband . It's so important to make memories together because in the end of life that's all we have left. Give a big kiss and a hug to your mama for me! Love you guys!❤
I loved this because it reminded me of watching my mum cutting Simplicity. Vogue, McCall and Butterick patterns. Sophia your mum is delightful and so talented, as are you!
Sophia, you did an amazing job editing this video. Your mom looks so cute in the first part of the video. Im looking forward to part 2. You can tell she has quite a lot of experience sewing clothes. How blessed you are to be able to share this time with your mom.
So enjoyable being with you and your Mom for a sewing lesson. The hand stitching to mark the joining arrows was quite interesting, I had never saw that. I’ll be looking forward to next video!❤❤
OH MY GOSH!!!!! Yes!! Hello Sophia & mom!! 🥳🥳🥰🥰 Both patterns are very nice YAY!! I'm excited to watch woooohoo Cute fabrics ! Thank you both for sharing your knowledge! Making pj pants are on my goals I hope to do soon , I know nothing about patterns . Honestly my plan was rewatch your older videos with clothes making to try to understand. I will probably still do that :) I enjoy the learning process you do . Have a fantastic visit . What a blessing for is all!!!!
and you answered both questions I was going to ask: the notches cut different & the pattern cut out 🤯👍I'm going to have to go buy a pattern so I can try along with your series , reading & cutting at least . MY GOODNESS THANK YOU !
Oh how I wish my Mum was here visiting. Your Mom is a beautiful lady and I can see where you get your classic beauty, brains and talent. Bonjour ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Scott needs to add mom to the family cartoon. Please tell her she looks great on camera I'm so pleased she's agreed to guest star on the channel I can't wait for this
Good morning from Canada 🇨🇦 lovely ladies. I prefer the patterns that are pre-cut. I love that they have the seam allowance line. Not everything new is an improvement. You make me want to sew again. I’m going to enjoy this series. 🎉
Hello Beautiful MaMa from Heaven. God bless you and thank you Not one can have such a wonderful Madre like you. You are an angel. My dream is to learn how to sew but my thread always bunches up on me. Thank you for the instructions. Have a fabulous stay with your beautiful daughter. You did a great job with her she is confident and very able in every thing she sets her hand to do.
Sophia, I love hearing you and your Mother speaking French. I'm learning the language and this was fun to hear. Also, of course, the sewing lesson was nice to see. I look forward to learning how to do French seams. Cheers
I just started the video, I don't sew, just excited to see you and mama! Beautiful! And the robes are really going to be cool and a great keepsake for Willie and you! Also useful! Like I said I don't sew. I had told you before my grandma was an excellent seamstress and quilter. An only child and completely self taught. Same with me and crocheting, which if I say so myself I have gotten quite skilled at. So I like to think I got that from my beloved grandma. She was the best.😇 I still have her metal cookie tin that she kept her needles scissors and little tools in Enjoy your beautiful mama. I know you will That is what family is all about Hi from SC.😊💕🙏🏻🏝️
Sophia....I had to comment right a way....Mom is to cute !!! God bless. You can tell that talking to the camera was kind of funny to her, LOL!! Good job Mom...
This reminds of the days my mom sewed. Her green Viking sewing machine and all her patterns & supplies would be all over the dining room table until she was finished. She sewed a lot of my clothes growing up and also a lot for my daughter when she was little. The sounds of unfolding the fabric paper always made me think of onion skin paper that I'd use to write friends in other countries back the late70's & 80's.
Your mum looks amazing. Maybe she can share her skin routine over the years. So happy that you'll spend so much time together making memories. Big hug and all the best în 2025 🤗
Wow ,I love everything about this. The patterns the material fabric wow wow wow!!! Can’t wait to start to learn new things about sewing. Thanks so much Sofia and Mom.❤❤ I love the way your mother sews those markings on the fabric. Even though it takes more time , I see sewing as a labor of love. I shall try it.
I think the reason for cutting the pattern out first like your mom did, was due to using a different scissors….. having sewn for 4H, my mom and oldest sister were very insistent that the good fabric scissors be only used on fabric!! VERY INSISTENT!! 😊
I don’t sew. My mom used to make a couple of my outfits when we first came to Canada in the early 70’s. I tried making simple things like curtains, pillow cases and comforters when my children were babies. I took a sewing class but my husband (ex now) would interfere with me going. I’m glad to still have my mom around to all the hemming and sewing up holes and rips in mine and my children’s clothes. Say hi to mom for me 💕🇨🇦
Your maman is a very nice lady. She has much knowledge to share and you are smart to glean from her! My mother taught me about gardening and preserving. She taught me until she was ninety! She was also quite a lady!
I do not sew, I feel as if I learned several things from watching this video. Who knows maybe some day I will be sewing with you and your beautiful mom❤
Oh I loved the video. I learned to sew from my mom when I was very young on her old peddle machine then she got a fancy Singer. Thanks for the subtitles it helped me keep up with her . I would love to hear Willie & mom talking to each other!!
Whenever my mother made a pattern using the multi-size pieces she would fold or pleat along the size she wanted so that the pattern remained complete so that she could remake it another time in one of the other sizes if she wanted. It wasn’t always an exact science as some curved lines were tricky but she was a competent and confident sewer so she could do it.
I would love to see you on camera with your Mum. I want to know what she thinks about your many talents and what great work you have done on your lovely home. 😘
That was great, I really enjoyed it, even tho I don't know how to sew. 🙂 Love seeing your mom. Thanks so much for sharing. You both have a wonderful week, looking forward to your next video. 🙂🥰😘❤
How fun to sew with your mom. The last time I sewed with mine was when we made my wedding dress (35+ years ago). Just so you know, you may not want to cut your fabric and the pattern at the same time because paper dulls scissors very quickly and can ruin fabric scissors over Ike. I know it is quicker but it would be better to have separate paper and fabric scissors.
I love hearing your mom speak. French is a beautiful language. Tell her thank you for sharing herself and her knowledge. She looks much younger than her age! Enjoy each other!
How lovely to see and your mom together!

I can't sew. Not the slightest bit, not at all. I watched anyway, because of your beautiful

She literally does nothing. I bought a bazillion potions for her. They renain untouch. Washes with soap and calls it a day.
It is nice to see you and your mom together. Looking forward to see the finished project 😊

Say hi to mom for me 💕🇨🇦
Loved this! And I really liked her tip on measuring sleeves. I can use that for my crochet projects!
You are so lucky to have same interests as your Mam
Your maman is a very nice lady. She has much knowledge to share and you are smart to glean from her! My mother taught me about gardening and preserving. She taught me until she was ninety! She was also quite a lady!

That s a greatvidea. Luckily mom s pattern is used on the large option which is the largest one available.
On Sophia you are so lucky I would love to still be able to sew with my Mum. We used to make all dresses to match for all the granddaughters x
I would love to see you on camera with your Mum. I want to know what she thinks about your many talents and what great work you have done on your lovely home. 😘
Enjoyed !! 🥰🥰🥰
Your mom is so cute! Love this!❤❤❤❤
Love the idea of using fabric instead of interfacing. Thanks.
That was great, I really enjoyed it, even tho I don't know how to sew. 🙂 Love seeing your mom. Thanks so much for sharing. You both have a wonderful week, looking forward to your next video. 🙂🥰😘❤

Thanks, I haven't sewn for a while, and my granddaughter wants me to help her sew some projects.
You will love making projects with your granddaughter.

Can you let the boys model them when your done making them
Can your mom sew an apron very French in style and fabric as a give-away prize? Maybe several so more than one person can win one? Sell a few as well?
Hello
