Thanks for your comment Maaike! I’ve never seen Dutch sewing patterns, but I’m intrigued. The rodeo dress has lots of buttons down the front so thats a fear we an conquer together 😊
Oh my goodness, grandma, grandma grandma, I cannot wait. I love your ideas for all year, but I really really really really wanna see grandma!!!🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤
Oooooh, I am so excited for you to teach us all about fabrics this year! I know very little & want to learn, but don't have access to stores to go into to feel them. I just joined Fabric Mart's Swatch Club and really am enjoying the January mailing so far. It really is nice to see & touch the fabrics to learn about them.
I have a lot of sewing plans for 2025. I’m going to try a coat, something lined, and a swimsuit. I actually laid out 10 projects for the year on my table yesterday. I haven’t made a new pattern for 2 months. I’m ready to sew with you and learn more. I’m getting excited. You have some beautiful fabrics to sew up. 🩷
Have you had your colors done? It made a huge difference in how I look. I absolutely love summer colors like the gray and purple knit, but I’m a winter and they just wash me out. I think you might be a winter too. Black looks great on you.
I am a fabric collector for sure. I need to have a year of no-buy year and only make projects based on fabric that I have been collecting. Could be fun/scary to actually make something out of my nostalgic-fabric-hoard
I say DO IT! Use that fabric to make something fabulous. I inherited a ton of vintage fabric when my Grandma downsized her house. It became part of my stash. I should pull it out and see what it inspires 😉
@ I am committed to this challenge now!! So now I have made a specific “make nine” kind of capsule wardrobe plan to make when I get my hands on my stash. Nothing more than things like zipper or specific tiny things that I need for completing the challenge is allowed for me. Everything needs to be completed and done and the only other things allowed to do until the 9 garments are completed is other “Work in Progress” project that I lurking in my Project-closet
OMG!!! I’m in Houston. Sadly, I leave tomorrow but I’ve been here since Thursday. It would have been an honor to meet you..btw, I’m the one that wanted to fight those people that didn’t like your makes for that play😂😂😂😂. Joking, not joking…I did get mad about it. Looking forward to 2025 plans. Happy New Year
Oh I remember those comments Maxine-they made my day! And I thought of you when they asked me to do costuming this year- hell no thank you very much. I’m done! If you come back to Houston sent me a DM on IG and we can grab coffee. I’d love to meet you too. Safe travels!
Happy New Year Toni 🎆 I love the block green fabric, it will look great made up in that pattern.. Love the rain coat fabric as well, look forward to seeing how it comes together 😊
@@SewSewLounge I think I also heard you say that you had a new baby lock coverstitch machine ( air thread) they are the easiest to thread up you will love it. I have a baby lock imagine serger which is fantastic...so so easy, thankfully I was lucky enough to purchase it second hand.
Tell those complainers to pound sand! I will be looking forward to learning about textiles and fabric. That raw silk will be gorgeous in the IM pattern. I am a big fan of Palmer Pletsch patterns and their fitting system, good for you going to take the course. I can’t wait, get to sewing , you have a lot to teach us🪡 😂
@ that’s funny because the pattern tracing and cutting out is the least stressful part to me. I actually enjoy it because no mistakes that need to be unpicked are made. Now if it’s a directional print, or if there is pattern matching the stakes get a little higher but by and large that’s a part I enjoy. I looked into taking the class but I want to go to Italy this year, so maybe another time. Anyway, I’m excited for you.
Steve Jobs worked the classic black knit tee, so I don’t think it’s a problem for you 😀. Can’t wait to see the Sisters of the Traveling Wrap Dress video. Happy 2025 (the year of fabric).
I love your comment Beth Ann. Vera Wang only wears black too. It requires less thought. The sisters of the traveling dress 🤣 now she HAS to be part of the video.
I do not have a serger but I have rolled hem foot! I actually started out sewing knit fabric clothing because I didn’t know they were supposed to be hard. I had no problem# because I read my machine Manual and it said to use jersey/stretch needles for certain fabrics and which stitches were for stretch fabrics. I also use a rotary cutter and mat which makes cutting so much easier with knits and slippery fabrics. I have been known to tape my fabric down to the mat with washi tape along with weights to stop curling edges annoying me.
It’s amazing what you can sew why you don’t have preconceived notions about certain fabrics being “hard”. Great tip to use washi tape- I’ll have to try that out😊
OOH Toni!! That gorgeous jersey knit is spot on for the V2000 DVF dress! Yes! I made that dress and it's such a stunning classic. You have such a wonderful variety of beautiful knits. I have that Vogue trench coat pattern too! I'd love to sew it up. I can't wait to see you sew yours with that fantastic floral. WOW!! Also, I can't wait to learn Palmer & Plestch from you. I never understood the tissue fitting method. I will be making a dress with faux suede fabric I got at Hobby Lobby. Its a cow print. I will be sewing up M8501 with it. I'm excited about learning how to make the self drafted Kimono from you. You have so many things going on that I look forward to. Thanks for sharing all your exciting sewing plans. 🥰😍
@@sewlovelywithgrace I saw your cow print fabric-so fun! The pattern you plan to use will look great. Thanks for watching and for all of your support Grace. I really appreciate it. 2025 is going to be a fun sewing project year for all of us!
All of your fabrics are fabulous! The purple corduroy is my favorite. But the raincoat fabric!!! I will plan on making a tear and sew kimono as well. Looking forward to fun videos whatever you make 🌻🍄
Thank you. I’m really loving my fabric choices for these 2025 projects. I’m probably starting with the corduroy soon while the colder weather is motivating me 🤣
I thought you wore a black tee since the rest of your sewing room is so brightly patterned and colored, and you wanted us to focus on you. I admit I was surprised when I began watching your channel that you love prints and colors and make many lively garments. I love the color of that silk, but I’d recommend washing a swatch of it. I had some pink silk (from an estate sale), and it bled like crazy. I inadvertently had a white pillowcase in the machine, which came out fuschia. I kept the pillowcase and eliminated the silk. Love your ideas for this year!
That’s the OTHER reason I wear a black T. Plus it looks good on the thumbnails for my videos. I love color and wear it all day but black is easier for videos 😉
I just watched your sewing needles post. While I consider myself an experienced sewer, I was pretty ignorant about needles. As I happens, I had Schmetz booklet you talked about, so I got it out and read. I really enjoy your posts.
What exciting fabric and pattern sewing plans for 2025! I’m with you with ALL the plans and exciting sewing challenges. I’ll bet you will learn so much at the Palmer Pletch workshop in April. Say hi to Pati from Stephanie from Portland for me, she is so amazing and sweet, not to mention crazy talented, love her! Happy Sewing! PS I also have those Oscar de la Renta postage stamps you have pinned on your board. Love those so much I bought 2; one to send letters with, one to keep ❤ Also Yay for Grandma!
You’re the first person to notice my stamps!! I bought them at an Oscar de La Renta exhibit at the museum of Fine Arts in Houston. In hindsight I should have bought two!! I can only hope that Pati will be at the class-I will pass on your message😊
Hi Toni! 👋🏼 I like the first Sew House Seven pattern. Well I think you look really good in your black t-shirt! I like it and I like the fact that you're getting ready to make you some t-shirts!❤ The raw silk looks kind of like hot pink on my end!😅 The raincoat fabric is beautiful. You say you wear a lot of cotton broad cloth? Do you have videos of you working with that material that you can send me a link to because I am trying to understand the different types of fabrics. I am not high-end at all. I'm just trying to understand the basics.
I am going to make the Patina Blouse by Friday pattern company. Going to make from an embroidered black cotton. Will make the collar and cuffs from plain black cotton. I just finished the Coe trouser from Daughter Judy. Ordered another yard of fabric to redo the waistband and will lower the rise some. After the patina blouse I will make a dress from beige with thin black and red stripes. This will easily be dressed up and down. Then a black 8 wale corduroy for a jumper dress. Then I will do a floral print on black knit dress. Then will see where I am. My kids bought me lots of nice fabric while I was bedridden for over two years. I can now sit up at the table for up to 4 hours and am starting to be able to walk again. To quote Mortified Addams.... Black is such a happy color!
I got a cover stitch machine last year. What a great investment. I was getting more into knits and I just could not find a satisfactory alternative for the hems. I’m happy for you to get one.
Love your sewing plans for 2025. I am learning for to fit pants. Made my first muslin, but need to do a crotch and hip adjustment and make a new muslin. Trying not to be to hard on myself on learning a new skill. Looking forward to your fitting skills. You go girl!
Pants are very challenging. Props to you for taking on that pattern. I tend to avoid sewing them🤣 BUT if this fit class goes well, I’ll take the pants one next year and learn those skills.
Happy 2025 to you! Thanks for a fun video. The green linen fabric could be lined, perhaps with a lightweight cotton? It might add some stability to that gorgeous fabric. I have an Ultrasuede dress from back in the day (it was my mother's). It's so much fun. The structure from the fabric is what REALLY gives it a cool, vintage feel (and perhaps the wide collar? lol). I really enjoy the throwback feel of it. It's very comfortable and soft and not too warm to wear, but I'm in the North, so there's that. Your fabric is a stunning color and complimented you when you held it up to your face. I can't wait to see what you do with these fabrics! What fun. I've got lofty goals as well, and your video has inspired me. I'm trying not to purchase any fabric this year, as well, and to really commit to sewing my stash. I'm enjoying the challenge. All the best!
I’m so happy to hear my video inspired you for 2025! We shall see how it goes with the green linen. Ultra suede was such a hot fabric in the 90s. I remember touching it for the first time at High Fashion Fabrics and thinking it was great. The price tag was around $20 a yard which was a lot of money back then. Glad to hear your mom’s dress has a new home with you. It sounds cools. Who knows, if I find some ultra suede I might end up using it to make the dress 🤷🏽♀️
You have some lofty goals; no doubt you’ll accomplish them! I’m loving your fabrics. I did sit this weekend when we had ice and snow, and make lists and sketches. I’ve listed most of my fabric stash and whether it’s washed or not, where it came from (if I remember), and if I have a plan for it, what that plan is. I also made a list of my alterations and upcycle piles, and then I sketched and/or listed sleeve, front, and neckline styles I want to use. I did all this while watching football with the hubby (earning some wifey points)!!!
I am looking forward to following along with you on your Learning All About The Serger journey! I use mine only for T-shirts, panties, and stretch pull-up pants. I have never changed any of the settings or the foot from what was on it when I bought it. It would be nice to branch out.
Hello, I love that Vogue 2000 wraparound dress, but unfortunately, I live in a little town and don’t have access to fabric stores. Where would you suggest I buy fabric online?
I love Blackbird Fabrics, in Vancouver, BC. Everything I’ve ever ordered is so beautiful, really high quality, and you call the shop for assistance if needed. She also includes washing instructions and fiber content on a tag. Really quality!
My plans are to finish alterations in my basket of stuff. Do the final topstitching on a vintage dress I made. And I have 2 dresses cut out and 3 dresses planned and 2 or 3 skirts. I also thrifted a pair of cloth flats I am going to recover to match one of the dresses (plaid flannel). I’m very excited about my 2025 sewing plans. I’m glad to see you are expanding your techniques also. 🥰👍❤
Happy new year. I am getting super organised this year ,I have spreadsheets lol. Really looking forward to your fitting videos as I have a ton of alterations I do on patterns to get them to fit. The joys of being short , very busty, narrow back, short torso the list goes on 😂. And I dont even notice what you wear 😊
Happy New Year Loraine! I need to get as organized as you’re getting!! I did break down and my an expensive planner that has worked well in the past. I’m looking forward to sharing what I learn with you to help you get the perfect fit ❤️
Hi. I love it that you will help teach us about fitting. I’m so much like you… adjusting sizes on patterns is really hard for me. Btw, my black v neck t shirt is my go to t shirt all the time. I think you look great in it.
I’m not allowing myself to buy more fabric this year either except for lining fabrics to finish a project since I tend not to buy those regularly. I also cannot buy more notions unless what I have really won’t work.
(Linda-from Montreal, Quebec, Canada). Happy New Year 2025 to you and your family Toni! Wishing you all the best, especially health. As usual, loved your video. As well, I have all these grand sewing things i want to do for 2025, starting...like now!! Yes I would love a sew along with the SIMPLICITY PATTERN 1537 - It's part of this new collection called AMAZING FIT, it shows you how to calculate the bust size for B, C, D cup sizes. It's a pretty and simple drop waist dress & princess seams. I really would like a sew a long with you. Hopefully, this pattern is one you like. Take care and bisous 😘
I live north of the DFW area in Texas and right now Sunday night at 8:55 pm, it is 27 degrees here!! LOL! But you are right - overall, not so cold most of the time!!
A sew along kind of a beginner. I want to make a dress flowey not tight(close to body) wast and flow into a skirt. To have a little shape like the hinterland style maybe
Great suggestion! It will help us all get over our fear of making button holes🤣 The funny thing is that I looked at the pattern back and November during the Black Friday sale and the talked myself out of it because of all the buttons.
That fabric is so 70s. Great for the DVF pattern. I remember the original DVF dress. I had the original pattern in the 70s but never made it. I didn’t have a serger then.
That’s so cool you had the original pattern. My friend bought some of the original wrap dresses in the 70s she said they were such a gamer changer for a working woman.
I am excited to see how grandma makes bound buttonholes. I have made them in the past and am interested in seeing grandma's technique. I am also looking forward to your pattern fitting series. Right now, I am struggling with getting New Look 6486 to fit under the arms. Three pattern pieces what could go wrong?
I like A&A Sewing in Broussard. They have beautiful dead stock fabrics that you won’t find anywhere else. That’s where I bought the lemon print fabric. I got the seersucker at Emily’s Closet in New Iberia. Where do you fabric shop in Louisiana?
Nothing has been pre-washed yet. I’m still deciding if I should or not. Thankfully I have the card of the fabric buyer who worked at High Fashion-I’m going to reach out to her and find out!
I have a Joann’s mega store near me. The selection is ok if you want to buy fleece or quilting fabric otherwise it leaves a lot to be desired. Occasionally I’ll find a knit fabric on sale that I like. Most of the time I only go for zippers and thread.
Hilarious to hear complaints about the uniform, but loving that you'll be making the black shirts yourself. I'm excited to learn from what you learn about alterations and more tailored garments - definitely a longer-term goal of mine.
There were SO many words I could have filled in 🤣 “Savant” seemed to be the best to convey knowledge of fabric. Junkie/hoarder/addict are all equally applicable. I can’t help myself… it’s all so beautiful.
You always seem to stay the same! Love your uniform because I can see your projects better!!! What do you eat throughout the day, you always look great!!!
I love how you’re sticking your tongue out at the uniform naysayers!! With all the things that can be commented on, they’re worried about your t-shirt. Shame on them!!!
I was so lucky in my teens when I was learning to sew. Size 12 fit perfectly so I could sew anything and only had to concentrate on developing skills like zippers, matching plaids, bound buttonholes, etc. my mom would just shake her head when I’d cut something out then only measure or try it on after it was finished. From P&P I learned that I didn’t have “thighs among us giantitis.”
The quality and style of clothing have gone downhill since 1969...just my opinion 😊 I hate the mid-drift stuff looks like, as Grandpa said, " a chippy wears that, not a young lady."
I hope you'll do a video on your new coverstitch machine.
Yes I will! Once I figure out how to use it 😉
You had me at rodeo season😂. Not really a Dutch thing.

Love me a seersucker! Especially in a sundress

Nice! Great use of your time 😉 I hope his team won!
I am looking forward to following along with you on your Learning All About The Serger journey! I use mine only for T-shirts, panties, and stretch pull-up pants. I have never changed any of the settings or the foot from what was on it when I bought it. It would be nice to branch out.
Sheri, you doing better than I am using it. I only started sewing dresses last year 🤣 2025 will be the year to branch out and try new techniques.
Hello, I love that Vogue 2000 wraparound dress, but unfortunately, I live in a little town and don’t have access to fabric stores. Where would you suggest I buy fabric online?
I would love to know your online fabric store suggestions as well!
I’m loving the knits selection at MarcieTilton.com that’s the only place I’ve bought fabric online recently.
You're going to have a great year of sewing projects-Happy Sewing! 🪡
Thanks Lori❤️
I’m not allowing myself to buy more fabric this year either except for lining fabrics to finish a project since I tend not to buy those regularly. I also cannot buy more notions unless what I have really won’t work.
We are in good company! I was going through my sewing box and found notions I forgot I had 🤦🏽♀️ No more for me either!
Love that Kaffe Fasset fabric.
Me too😍
(Linda-from Montreal, Quebec, Canada).
Thank you for your comment Linda! I will take a look at the pattern you suggested. I appreciate a dropped waist!
You can't go wrong with black.
Plus it’s so slimming 😉
I live north of the DFW area in Texas and right now Sunday night at 8:55 pm, it is 27 degrees here!! LOL! But you are right - overall, not so cold most of the time!!
We got winter down in Houston too, but it only got down to 31. I’m happy the weather got colder but I prefer the 40s-50s 🤣
A sew along kind of a beginner. I want to make a dress flowey not tight(close to body) wast and flow into a skirt. To have a little shape like the hinterland style maybe
Thanks for your suggestion!
Happy New Year. I would love if you could do a ew a long for Vogue 1933.
Great suggestion! It will help us all get over our fear of making button holes🤣 The funny thing is that I looked at the pattern back and November during the Black Friday sale and the talked myself out of it because of all the buttons.
I have complained about you always wearing black, but if you say it's your uniform, I get it now🖤
Thanks Cindy and no worries. Now my black t-shirts will be me made 😉
That fabric is so 70s.
I’m excited to learn Grandma’s technique too. She’s been trying to teach me for years.
I’m in Louisiana. What’s the fabric shop that you like to visit here?
I like A&A Sewing in Broussard. They have beautiful dead stock fabrics that you won’t find anywhere else. That’s where I bought the lemon print fabric. I got the seersucker at Emily’s Closet in New Iberia. Where do you fabric shop in Louisiana?
Do you prewash the raw silk and linen before you sew these??
Nothing has been pre-washed yet. I’m still deciding if I should or not. Thankfully I have the card of the fabric buyer who worked at High Fashion-I’m going to reach out to her and find out!
Just wondering, do you have a Joann’s and do you buy anything from them? I feel their selection is not that great.
I have a Joann’s mega store near me. The selection is ok if you want to buy fleece or quilting fabric otherwise it leaves a lot to be desired. Occasionally I’ll find a knit fabric on sale that I like. Most of the time I only go for zippers and thread.
Here in SC, the Big 4 patterns are as expensive as the Indie! Go figure 😮
I always wait to buy big 4 when they go on sale online. My local Joann’s never has the patterns I want.
Hilarious to hear complaints about the uniform, but loving that you'll be making the black shirts yourself. I'm excited to learn from what you learn about alterations and more tailored garments - definitely a longer-term goal of mine.
Thanks Ellen! I’m looking forward to learning to fit patterns so I can tackle some suit patterns 😉
"I am a fabric [pause] savant..." During the pause, I filled in with the word I would use for myself - "junkie."
There were SO many words I could have filled in 🤣 “Savant” seemed to be the best to convey knowledge of fabric. Junkie/hoarder/addict are all equally applicable. I can’t help myself… it’s all so beautiful.
As the quality of fabric in RTW has gone down the price has gone up. 🤔
Yep. You’re 100% correct!
You always seem to stay the same! Love your uniform because I can see your projects better!!! What do you eat throughout the day, you always look great!!!
Thanks Karol. I eat low carb and go keto for a few weeks here and there.
I love how you’re sticking your tongue out at the uniform naysayers!! With all the things that can be commented on, they’re worried about your t-shirt. Shame on them!!!
It makes my life easier. Considering I work full time and have a TH-cam channel with weekly content easy is what I need 😉
BTW Deer and Doe has Plantain which is a nice Free Tshirt pattern.
Omg your Grandfather is hysterical🤣
@SewSewLounge He was...lol
