I agree with movement, I would like to see a system like xcom and other tactical top down games. Where you can run and shoot, or sprint a linger distance but give up the ability to shoot. Also same for moral, where instead of losing you het a random effect, like fleeing back or panic shooting at really negative chance
I mean, you’re pretty much describing an advance, which IS in KT. You get to move your normal move plus 1D6 but can’t shoot unless it’s an assault weapon.
I think that those ranges with pictograms instead of just inches are a bit confusing. It's like reinventing the wheel to make people remember what which picture means or force them to buy measurement sticks from GW :x Also I often play exploding kittens with my casual friends ;)
I use Launch Bay Next for X-Wing...stats, armies, and a collection tracker. It's a nice app. I wasn't sold on the points in an app thing, either, but I got over it and jumped into version 2 and was not unhappy and would never go back to version 1. The new Kill Team is, apparently, a complete revision of the entire system...and they've already announced plenty of changes that have divorced it from the basic 40K...which I like. I really like Kill Team and am looking forward to the new system.
Scouting phase was dropped pretty early in more competitive kill team, tbh I forgot it even existed :v Bad morale rolls still had an impact but no competitive packet used a rule broken = you lose. After a lot of fixes from competitive community game got really good and Commanders International packet made pretty much all factions viable. Still I'm very exited for the new edition, finally my eldar rangers and dire avengers will see some use :D
I had 2 options for the clear plastic flight stands. Either slightly widen the hole where the stand attaches and glue the model to the stand below the tiny peg (after painting the clear plastic flat black), or replace the plastic pylon with brass rod. Back when I played WFB I had a set of 8 bases with views of the ground seen from a high altitude with a brass tube (about 2-3" long) fixed to it by drilling a hole in the base and gluing a brass rod that fit into the tube to the base for stability. I marked one side of the base as the "front" and glued a few wisps of cotton on to represent clouds. Then for all my flying units I only had to glue a short section of brass rod into the underside and could use the same bases for any unit. Made storing flyers (Fell Bats, Terradon riders, etc) easy, as you didn't have to account for all those flight bases. You could also amuse yourself during opponent's turns by spinning your flyers on their stands. I got this from a variant of the Mustangs game a friend came up with that used 1/287 scale miniature WWII planes with the brass rod attached. Various lengths of brass rod were used to represent altitude changes.
Magnets are the way to go for flying stands. I magnetized a suppressor sergeant and both ends of the acrylic swoop are magnetized so you never have to worry about it breaking.
Had some very interesting experiences playing the British version of cards against humanity with randoms. My wife and I’s sense of humour is very dark with no boundaries, we’ve had people walk out of a party due to being offended, which is a bit of a vibe killer. But I agree Jay, we much prefer playing against people we know well, and exploring kittens is the perfect game for casuals!
From what it seems, it looks like you'll have a set number of 'actions' that you can use for whatever. Say you have three actions, you use all three to move, and that's it. Or you move, attack, attack. ETC.

It seems like they're removing the morale phase, based on the datacards they've showed. Im honestly perfectly cool with that. I was never a fan of it, for the reasons you say, and because I just don't think it fits thematically with the game.
I doubt you'll see this, but from my perspective the points moving to an app in X-Wing was controversial, but two years in 90+% of the player base agrees it was a good idea. I wish more games would go that route for the sake of points balancing.
Kill Team was left to die. A new edition wasn't needed, but instead, the tards at GW came up with another edition, instead of fixing a few things. 1: the reroll wording. Since the core rule book came out (3 years ago), the reroll wording was flawed. Since modifiers were applied AFTER rerolls, some core abilities like They Shall Know No Fear could not be applied since a space marine after losing 3 team mates having a flesh wound would have had to take an LD7-3=4 but since modifiers dont come until rerolls happening na matter what you did you could not roll 7+ with a d6. So you passed on 1-4, but on a 5-6 meant you are shaken and TSKNF did not activate. 2: clearing up the Veteran movement + turn 1 charge. Would have been nice to have a person writing these FAQs who actually knows at least intermediate English. 3: Giving the Sisters of Battle their full rule set instead of making them a joke faction. 4: optimizing the injury roll. Thats it.
The new kits in Kill Team Octarius are actually customizable enough so that they can be built for 40k (they've even confirmed that rules for the new wargear will make their way into future 40k books), which is kind of what I expect we will see for most future Kill Team releases... at least for the ones that are able to be taken in 40k. I'm already guessing that we'll be seeing some kind of Craftworld Guardians/Rangers/Dire Avengers kit within the next 12 months that follows this basic premise, incorporating that weird mine/thing that we saw a few months back in the Rumour Engine. Kill Team is a great opportunity for GW to update some of those older kits outside of the typical 40k release windows (i.e. they don't have to release new kits with a new book). Given that Kill Team is now action based, with alternating player activations, and most "operatives" (that's what individual models are called in the game) have 2 action points (Shooting costs 1 action point), it might change the prevalence of movement entirely. As for a morale phase, the lack of Leadership values on the new datacards suggests it may not even be a thing anymore... Kill Team 2.0 is clearly a signifcant change, and no longer just "mini 40k."
dang. I was getting so pumped to buy into x-wing. your enthusiasm was really selling it to me...but now it's app based. so...nope. I play a tabletop game on the tabletop with paper, pencils, dice and models/tokens. if I'm gonna use my devices, I'll play on consoles and mobile devices. yeah, it's nice to have a 'live' rule set that gets fluid updates and all, but like you said: what if you can't afford the data? what if the wi-fi goes out? what if you're trying to conserve battery power? well, if there's a way to print out your army stats then I guess that'll be ok.
Dunno if you have ever played these, but two FUN card games I've enjoyed... Red Dragon Inn, and Sheriff of Nottingham. Still best with friends, but also a good way to make some new ones. Or enemies if you so prefer.
If they make flying bases like the ones of the ghost or milenium falcon from x wing could work better.... that bases or x wing bases are magic! Im not play the game but i love the minis and hoping some day to play and it just works.... that bases are a dream
I am on the fence about getting Killteam. I have tons of AOS plastic. I wonder, is this my chance to jump into 40k or should I just buy WarCry. In my homebrew version of Kill Team (Will Team) I tried to make morale more equally felt by all factions by making overkill damage on slain models effect the morale of nearby friendlies e.g. stinkbrother Repulsivich rolls a 6 on the damage for his plague cleaver against brother Testicules = initiate Shitimslef has a -5 penalty on his nerve test.
nope youre wrong, x-wing 2.0 has had many FAQ and PDFs that have changed cards and rules. most are minor alterations but some are quite substantial like tractor tokens and gas clouds

ooooh also, flying stands, I sanded off 2mms of it, and then used a 1mm thick magnet on the models back and 1mm superglued onto the base. So they sit same height, but are magnetised onto the base, so no breakage, it falls and the model pops off, but the base and stand is fine and the model, just reattach via the magnet, 1 second XD
well, the FIRST kill team would have been Shadow War: Armageddon in 2016 or 17? there was also a kill team in 2004, but that won was pretty different. I think the second edition is talking about the second version of THIS new version of kill team.

Don't forget the proto Kill Team rules in the 4th edition 40k rule book. The soon to be released Kill Team is the 2nd all in one box doesn't depend on codices from 40k version. Or maybe the Orange and Black branding is the distinction...

So I agree with the scouting phase, pointless phase usually seen skipped in alot of battle reports and in my play group, movement I feel like its fine other then charging should be after shooting like in 40k, so close combat armies have more of a chance to get into the thick of it other then advancing and doing nothing but dying. Now I do believe morale is something that needs to be looked at but armies like space marines are currently really bad at kill team, other armies can have more shooting more units and be much cheaper, armies like space marines that dont flee have a better chance of being around against double the number of models your opponents bring. It would be cool to see specialty boxes and units for kill team like what warcry for AoS has, but that's for uniqueness of mechanics not because this is the best models. I feel how playing with the current models in killteam make it more beginner friendly because I can just by a box of chaos space marines or gaurd or whatever for like 50 bucks and build a kill team out of it and play with friends or players at my local store and theyll play about as good as any other army. It only comes good or bad models when you start to play more competitively or go to tournaments, but like in normal 40k tournament list are always wallet killers
If I wanted to start playing X-Wing (and it would be up to me to get 2 armies, rules etc.), could you recommend any boxes/sets (probably the 2nd edition starter set) or how 2 balanced midsized armies could look like? ("midsized" for me is an 750-1000 point army in 40k)
X wing is very different to 40k, you don't build an army, you list build for each game. typicaly a game will have 3-4 ships per side and everything is prety well balanced so you can go with watever ships look cool. I would suggest the second edition starter set then maybe a second x wing or y wing, then for the empire a tie interceptor or tie advanced.
People love to say kill team is a good game but it just isn't. All these problems are true plus killing a model takes so long. It's like they were afraid to let the game be short. It would be cool to be able to play a game in ten minutes and go best of 3. For those times when you can't or don't want to spend the time on a full game of 40k.
10 minutes is really short, I don't know if there is time for an army game in that. GW did make a game called lost patrol that is really quick to play.
@@EonsOfBattle well that sounds interesting. Maybe ten minutes was a hyperbole but kill team, to me, tended to feel like "eonsofbattle" where no models die and not much happens. Maybe it's the wound/injury system I just don't like lol
You mentioned the X-Wing App. The official app is unfortunately hot garbage. launchbaynext (for your phone) or "yet another x-wing squad builder 2.0" will both make your life much better. Launchbay works offline so you are good with no wifi (there are still errata but nothing that's crucial unless you want to get into the competitive scene)
The application with rules makes me think of ideas of how warhammer rules should work which is immediately what eons and everyone else in comments is thinking. though it would kill all the sales they get for the new edition codexes and white dwarf faqs 500 minatures (exaderation whatever), that drove me to want to check out what they have and geting a que just for accessing website.
The fourth thing the need to change in Killteam is making jerkoffs on Reddit not attack people who dont like the new movement system constantly. Im not even going back to my reddit account at all until it all blows over because you cant even say "I have concerns" without a dogpile of "What are you, a toddler???" I even got banned from r/killteam because I just asked "how is 3 circle simpler than 6"?"

I think it fits better with an army situation vs a squad situation. Squad fights are over so much faster there’s no time for emotions

I Have a suppressor in my KT that is mounted on this arching flying stand, had to pin it because the glue did not hold at all.

I feel how playing with the current models in killteam make it more beginner friendly because I can just by a box of chaos space marines or gaurd or whatever for like 50 bucks and build a kill team out of it and play with friends or players at my local store and theyll play about as good as any other army. It only comes good or bad models when you start to play more competitively or go to tournaments, but like in normal 40k tournament list are always wallet killers
it could be like an underworld rework, with miniatures only for kill team, i would like that instead of buying an entire army

If I wanted to start playing X-Wing (and it would be up to me to get 2 armies, rules etc.), could you recommend any boxes/sets (probably the 2nd edition starter set) or how 2 balanced midsized armies could look like? ("midsized" for me is an 750-1000 point army in 40k)
X wing is very different to 40k, you don't build an army, you list build for each game. typicaly a game will have 3-4 ships per side and everything is prety well balanced so you can go with watever ships look cool. I would suggest the second edition starter set then maybe a second x wing or y wing, then for the empire a tie interceptor or tie advanced.

People love to say kill team is a good game but it just isn't. All these problems are true plus killing a model takes so long. It's like they were afraid to let the game be short. It would be cool to be able to play a game in ten minutes and go best of 3. For those times when you can't or don't want to spend the time on a full game of 40k.
10 minutes is really short, I don't know if there is time for an army game in that. GW did make a game called lost patrol that is really quick to play.
@@EonsOfBattle well that sounds interesting. Maybe ten minutes was a hyperbole but kill team, to me, tended to feel like "eonsofbattle" where no models die and not much happens. Maybe it's the wound/injury system I just don't like lol
You mentioned the X-Wing App. The official app is unfortunately hot garbage. launchbaynext (for your phone) or "yet another x-wing squad builder 2.0" will both make your life much better. Launchbay works offline so you are good with no wifi (there are still errata but nothing that's crucial unless you want to get into the competitive scene)

The fourth thing the need to change in Killteam is making jerkoffs on Reddit not attack people who dont like the new movement system constantly. Im not even going back to my reddit account at all until it all blows over because you cant even say "I have concerns" without a dogpile of "What are you, a toddler???" I even got banned from r/killteam because I just asked "how is 3 circle simpler than 6"?"
