Great video. I'm amazed of how stupid the camera design is. I have repaired some old simple rangefinders, and this looks like a hell, full of tarpits... You're incredible repairman, being able to work with this "material".
@@mrfeelnothing9586 konica af have the same problems with leaked capacitors which destroy the motherboard like in t2. this both cameras required replacement of capacitors asap to prevent irreversible damage.

oh my god you want to tell that this shield prevented from short circuit from flash reflector on body? it is so dumb. but i need to check it because how i remember plastic window reflector is wide enough to cover metal reflector from contact with covers. yeah i cut off about 10 minutes with small things which was not so interesting. about door brush, 00 on counter and different motherboard revisions
@@FotonaprawaPL i just tested red eye mode (double flash) in gray contax t2 (sn 08****) with shield and without shield and it works fine without. but also this gray t2 have different shield - like in tvs, it is not solid sheet but it have window for flash, so it is isolating reflector from contact with top cover but it will not collect dirt and made burns. maybe this problem occurs only in the first revision of t2 with an old motherboard but i never paid attention to it and didnt study it from this poin so cant tell. and i never heard any complaints on freezing flash with red eye mode. i had only cases with freezing flash but it was capacitor near viewfinder. but thanks for info anyway. i will add this in description.
t3 is much better but they have design flaw too - breaks the lock inside the lens cap and either the cap stops opening/closing or the lens cannot be extended from the body
@ minilux is better if it didnt been in hands of bad repairman or if owner didnt tried to repair it. in minilux you need to replace flex cable once in 3-7 years. in t3 in never seen broken flex cable but they have problem with lens cover which in the worst case will block the camera from turning on.
@@joshuahankins7580 hard to tell because i never had to replace them twice in any camera i repaired for other persons and they never complained about it again (or maybe i forgot about someone but this is rather an exception). i replaced it only in my minilux after 4 years. but last year it just lying on shelf and i dont used it. and most common reason why flex cable breaking is loss of flexibility. it can happen faster on dry air or with high temperatures if you leave your camera on console in closed car at summer day how one person did. or if you will not use your camera more than one year how i did. also in my minilux was first generation flex cable from china. now they doing them from better materials. more flexible and thin (it is good) so they should serve longer. but you should know that even in modern cameras and lenses flex cable live not long. it can broke after 1 year of using. (Im talking about those cables that are constantly bending because they are located in lenses or screens) you can find replacement flex cable on aliexpress almost to any lenses and digital compacts. and only because they there is demand china produce them. so it is mean they breaking often. and in modern cameras and lenses manufacturers usually write service life 7 years. so i can tell that flex cable in any device can serve 1-7 years. but in my statistic is 4-? years.

the design isnt old. its just of its time. I dont think they were expecting these to still be in use this many years later.
It's not designed for manufacturing friendly and repairing friendly.
Love your finding. Very informative.
thank you for your insight, in your opinion what is the best premium compact camera with good repairable design?
contax tvs for wide angle and leica minilux for normal focal length.

What compact cameras do you recommend that are easier to repair but also have the same or better picture quality of the Contax T2?

@awaysounds yes exactly. We tested it many times and usually gives us the same result so we replace them.
