Kruger National Park Kudu Video - Kudu Bark (Kudu Sound) & General Animal Video
The Greater Kudu (Tragelaphus strepsiceros) are large antelopes found throughout much of southern and eastern Africa, including the Kruger National Park in South Africa.
Population: The exact number of kudu in the Kruger National Park varies and is difficult to estimate precisely due to the vast size of the park and the constantly changing population dynamics. However, kudu are considered relatively common throughout the park, and the last census revealed there were around 7,000 Kudu in the Greater Kruger National Park.
Habitat: Kudu are adaptable animals that can thrive in a variety of habitats, including woodlands, savannahs, and thickets. In the Kruger National Park, they are most commonly found in areas with dense bush and woodland vegetation, which provide them with both food and cover.
Diet: Kudu are primarily browsers, meaning they feed on leaves, shoots, and twigs of trees and shrubs. They have a varied diet that includes a wide range of plant species, such as acacia, mopane, and various types of bushes and herbs. During the dry season when food is scarce, they may also graze on grasses.
Predators: In the Kruger National Park, kudu face predation from a variety of carnivores, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, wild dogs, and hyenas. Young kudu are particularly vulnerable to predation, and predators often target them when they are separated from the protection of the herd.
This Greater Kudu video was taken in various locations of the central and northern Kruger National Park. In the background you can first hear the animal call of the Kudu, which is the characteristic bark - often heard at night, especially in the presence of Leopard. After that we have added some general and soothing bird calls for your enjoyment.
