How does this correspond with your tip about drawing a line down the ball and putting that line between your feet, the turning your left foot and moving your right foot apart? Do you still center up with the ball, or do you center up with your line 3 inches behind?

    • @rogermounger6629

If I go 3 inches behind the ball, hitting it on the heel, will get my slice back?

Holy smokes...my "centrifugal force" idea was right, I was just kind of nervous about trying it on the course. C'mon Saturday!

Alex, As always great tips, but I have a question on driver head hitting. Have you ever had a number of students put hitting tape or foot spray on the driver face. Then have them hit and record impact points. Be interesting to see results. Cheers, Joel Halprin

I just took this video to the net in my garage, took some videos and my swing doesnt even look the same!!! i was soo over the top before and now its just shallow and hitting the middle of the face!?! HOW!? I cant wait to get this on the course!! Thanks brother!

Wow that is a great hack. I just went to the garage and gave it a go with some contact paper on the driver. Terrific! I had the tee height down but the other two were really helpful, especially lining up closer to the toe. The centrifugal aspect of the driver is real.

Hi Alex I started using your tip by setting the driver 3 inches behind the ball and out of the toe. I was hitting some of my drives from 180 metres total to 235 metres and it gave me more height.
    Thanks Alex

Alex. Used you tee peg trick with driver today (FYI just bought my first driver). After hitting the ground on my first three tries, I put the a marker to the back right of the driver as a focus point. In nutted 3 in a row! This totally works.

I tried the toe set up and it did help. I hit the ball plenty high bet have struggled to be straight.
Today my big miss was 5 yards. I was consistently to the right. I was thinking hit the inside left of the ball.
My tee up tip. Place your tea into the ground and then play Chevelle just in front of it to where the tea height is at the top of your ball. This will put you very close to the epicenter of the ball being halfway above your club.. easy fix.
    Can’t wait to hit a
Bucket an practice this drive tip more

I bought a new driver a few weeks ago and the first rounds it was constantly missing right! Trying to correct it turned into duck hooks. As for ball height off the teeing ground, simple, use stepped tees.
I use 38mm for my driver & 12mm for everything else. It takes the ball height variable out of the equation.

The only problem with grounding the driver is if you release the grip and regrip because the club will twist when resting on the ground and let it just settle. You aren't regripping the club so you aren't getting the twist those who release the grip once the club is grounded will get. Just wanted to point out a typical problem when grounding the club behind the ball.

Too many players believe there’s only one answer in golf. Experimentation is the key. For example Wesley Bryan’s driver stance is so narrow it looks like he’s hitting a wedge, and he lines the ball up on the hozzel. Mess around at the range and you may find something that seems unorthodox but it works w/ your swing. It’s fun and you’ll get a lot better.

Alex, I’m an avid listener to your program. Every day I listen to your latest tip. I’ve been slicing the ball more than I would like to admit. Your latest tip on teeing the golf ball lower and starting the club 3 inches behind the ball and slightly off center of club face is my new set up. I was bombing the ball today. Longest drive 271, and consistently out around 240-250. I also incorporated your bunker set up and I’m getting out of bunkers beautifully. Love all your lessons and I’m down to a 7 handicap. I’m also 67 yrs old and a throat cancer survivor. 100% cancer free and playing golf 3-4 days a week. CHEERS!

But, the big stick is still { to be polite, inconsistent } to be accurate { it sucks, I am right, then left and who knows where it will go next }? Have you got a Driver video that will show everything from setup thru swing?

  • @BP-kx2ig
    @BP-kx2ig ปีที่แล้ว

I have addressed the driver off the toe and on the ground for years
I had read that the reason is that if you now move your driver up to the ball, to the position that you hit it, the club automatically adjusts the address position to the centre of the club. Makes sense to me. Just watch what happens if you try this.

I enjoy your videos many thanks. I was wondering if you could try this. I am setting up with my club head at least 8 to 10 inches away from ball. I have so much room to release the club this way. I take it back square and somewhat vertical and on the downswing move a little forward onto the balls of my feet. You can never shank this way but only miss on the toe. It made my ball striking better and more distance and a ton more fun. Could you just try it? Thanks.

  • @johnschwartz1536

All excellent tips Alex on Driver alignment and tee height! Because of the inconsistencies of of our grassed tee boxes, I carry two length tees (3 1/4" & 2 3/4"). I do use your recommended tee height. I like your suggestion of addressing the ball towards the toe because on occasion I do get "off center" hits! I also like your other suggestion of setting the club three inches or so in back of the ball in order to get an upward strike on the drive!

  • @KennyGrinols
    @KennyGrinols ปีที่แล้ว +2

What's the most extreme alignment you've seen within this theory? I have to align the ball, literally beyond the club head, to find the middle because I seem to "reach" out so far in my swing. It looks like I'm lined up to take a practice swing and miss completely, but it's the only way I can get anywhere near the middle.
If I line up traditionally, I'll miss the ball completely, or hit it right off the hosel. It's so bad 😂.

Yep , agree, basic physics. Also if you do address ball hovered with arms fully extended then exhale and drop club down and back onto ground … ball is off toe.
And… ( while I have your attention) with the clubface 4” ( 100mm) behind the ball a 3deg upward angle of attack is mathematically Tan3degx100 = 5.2mm OR approx 1.5 dimples on a ball… yep 3deg AOA is less than 2 dimples up…. Game of fractions !!!!

I see you have modified, since your last video on this, 4 weeks ago, to include my comments on that video - ie set up at the swing LOW POINT (not just an arbitrary distance behind the ball) and ALIGN TOWARDS THE TOE at setup. A bit of credit would have been nice.

Omg 😮. I started with watching your earlier video hitting from the front of the toe which helped me tremendously. After watching this video by adding the 3 inches out is a game changer! I must have added about 20 yards give or take more. Thank u so much Alex n enjoy Portugal 😁

Tried this today for the first time on the range. Unbelievable! I thought it was a fluke. I hit two dozen with driver. Striped every one. Dead straight or slight draw… 👌.
I’ve been struggling with push/cuts. I’m gonna use this from here on out. Start it off the toe!! 🔥🤯

I set up my driver with the ball over the toe and lightly resting about 2 inches or so a bit closer behind the ball. Thanks Rambo and Bryson for both ideas.
Now Alex tells me 😡😡. Shame on you Lololololol

Hey Alex , I’d love some help with my long irons 6,5,4 . For some reason they are mostly going the same distance . I can hit my hybrid and 3 wood without issue .
I know I am missing one tiny thing . Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks man keep up the great content

Have you tried focusing IN FRONT of the ball when hitting your irons?

To hit my driver out of the middle I have to address the ball at the heel of the club, Is there anything I can do to improve consistent ball stricken ? Nothing too radical as I’m 66 and just started playing
