A friend of mine hung out with Weird Al a few times, and I was pleased to hear that he's exactly the person you hope he is, friendly and funny and great to be around. I love that high school story, it's brilliant.
Al is the kind of guy that decent people in high school appreciate and think is pretty fun but kinda weird.... and then at the twenty or thirty year reunion, everyone realizes that he was the realest and coolest guy in the class, it was just that people didn't have the ability to see it during the turbulent high school years. These types are the real winners. Found themselves early and didn't change.

It's weird to me that people consider him Weird Al. Clever, witty, common sense and narrative Al doesn't roll off of the tongue quite the same way. I love how Al called Kurt Cobain while they were doing SNL to ask about the parody and they were "absolutely yes!" Supposedly that's when Nirvana realized they had made it.
That's funny his one suggestion was from Madonna, my friend wrote one of Madonna's hits and he wouldn't give him the ok to do a parody of it, sounds like Madonna would have been into it as it was a few years after Like a Surgeon.
